The Giver​ Tic-Tac-Toe Choiceboard

Directions:
Complete three tasks in a horizontal, diagonal or vertical row to win!!! Each task is
worth 10 points for a total of 30 points. You can choose up to 1 more task for extra credit.

Use ​Nawmal​ to recreate an event or Create your own utopian society. Think
chapter in ​The Giver​. about five problems that really bug you
about our society. Explain how these
issues could be resolved in your utopian
society. Create a name for your
community/society. Some elements to
include: Size, physical description, roles
and responsibilities of community
members, education, government, laws,
punishment, work, science, technology,
religion, health and medicine
Create a summarizing comic book of the
novel by adding a twist of humor. Do not
change the basic storyline, but feel free to
change or add dialogue to make it funny.
Be sure to include all essential scenes
from the book. Use​ ​Pixton​ ​to create your
comic book.

Compare 2 characters in the novel. Use
the design website ​Diffen​ to create your
comparison using images and text. Share
the link in the designated space on our
class website.
Consider how the novel ends. Write an
ending that gives readers a sense of
closure for the characters of Jonas and
Gabriel. Where do they go and why? Your
ending should be 1-2 paragraphs in
length.
Analyze the character of Jonas and how
he develops over the course of the novel.
How does his evolution advance the plot?
Write the page and paragraph numbers of
the support you use.

Look at the rules that Jonas was given
when he became the Receiver. Knowing
how the story ends, decide what changes
you would make to the rules and explain
the reasons for your decisions.
Find sensory images in ​The Giver​ and
create a ​Prezi​ p
​ resentation in which you
write the sensory images along with
examples of each from the text. You must
include the page number of each example.
Then narrate your presentation using
Knovio​ and share the link on the
designated space of our class website.
Make a symbol that describes the Giver.
You should design your symbol with an
online design tool. The write half a page
about why it symbolizes him. Use
examples from the text to support your
explanation.
