Allah directly, but indirectly” / “Look at it this way…” / “ I am a well wisher, I come in peace”
/ “Takes one away from literal interpretation of verses” / “Made halaal what was declared
haraam”

 The Origin of Shirk: Ibn Abbas (ra): “Between Adam and Nuh, were 10 generations on the
Sharee’ah of truth, then they differed” 1 And note the following Hadith, Prophet (Saws) said
that Allah (swt) said2:

ّ
 PROVES WRONG: Those who claim a Man’s natural disposition is Shirk.
 Ibn ‘Abbas relates regarding verse (QS71. Nuh ayat 23)

o 23. "And they have said: 'You shall not leave Your gods, nor shall You leave Wadd, nor Suwâ',
nor Yaghûth, nor Ya'ûq, nor Nasr (names of the idols);

 “Indeed these five names of righteous men from the people of Nooh. When they died
Shataan whispered to their people to make statues of them and to place these statues in
their places of gathering as a reminder of them, so they did this. However, none from
amongst them worshipped these statues, until when they died and the purpose of the
statues was forgotten. Then (the next generation) began to worship them.” 3
 Nuh (as) sent with combat kit against Shirk [Blind following of ancestors & Authority]
 Demonstrative Examples are Established for Mankind: Aad (Powerful people, large
constructions) and Thamud (Carved out homes in mountains).
 As populations increase, people regroup into communities and hierarchies are established.
Leading into the fitna of power-struggle and dominance.
 Nimrod forms the example of Shirk and Man-made ruling system of the time.
 Abraham (as) sent with a combat kit, Abraham (as) to become the father of Prophets to
come. The example of truth, righteousness and uprightness. The man whom Allah (swt) took
as a close friend (QS4. An Nisaa' ayat 125)

 Ibrahim’s Reaction (A model for mankind to follow) :

 Da’wah goes public and becomes physical : (QS21. Al Anbiyaa' ayat 52-69)

1 Related by Ibn Jareer at-Tabaree in his tafseer (4/275) and al-Haakim (2/546) who said: “It is authentic
according to the criterion of al-Bukhari.” Adh-Dhahabee also agreed.
2 Muslim [Book 54, Hadith 7386]
3 Bukhari [Vol. 8, Hadith 534]

settings examples for the principle of Prophetic ‘Sunnah’ as part of means to attain salvation.

 SIDE NOTE: Destruction of Lut (as) happens concurrently to serve as a warning and an
example to generations following that Fahasha has no room on Allah’s Earth and Under
Allah’s commands, these are to be punished severely. While preaching to the Mushriks, the
Mufsidin / godless of the Society must also be tackled.
 Yusuf (as) establishes Hujjah against the upcoming generations and their Shirk. (QS12.
Yusuf ayat 40) While at the same time re-iterating the importance of a Fahasha free society.

 The Pharaohs Are Given Authority in the Land. [Extreme forms of Shirk surface]. As
decades pass under Pharaonic rule, preaching of Yusuf (as) slowly forgotten, and strength of
faith declines. A great trial/test for Bani Isra’il. Life under tyranny. A great challenge set for
a great Nabi: Musa (as) is chosen for this monstrous task.
 Musa (as) sent to combat the super-taghoot of the time.
o An Epic Dialogue (Remnants of the past) : (QS40. Al Mu'min ayat 26-45)
[Read from Qur’an]
 Hypocrisy: Bani Isra’il’s dealings with the Messenger. [A quick history up to Jihad denial].
 Yusha bin Nun (as) : Guides them into battle leading to victory.
 The famous statement: (QS5. Al Maa-idah ayat 24)

 After Musa (As) another strong fitna emerges. People who ‘claim’ to be followers of the
Prophet Musa (as) yet have vested authority in human beings rather than the scripture.
Abandoning the Sunnah of Musa (as) is the norm. [A glimpse of things to come…]
 Isa(as) sent to re-establish links with the revealed ‘Sharee’ah’ and to take people from
darkness to light, from serving men to the service of Allah (swt). Re-iterating the Da’wah of
the Messengers = (QS3. Ali 'Imran ayat 50)

oTwo products of the era: “Maghdoobi Alai’him” and “Daalleen” [Setting an example
for future generations]. When the call to Sharee’ah is made, people split into 2 camps.
Camp of Ar-Rahman and Camp of Shaytan.
 Muhammad  is sent.
o Sent with the greatest Miracle of all: Al-Qur’an, The Critereon. The guide-book that
sums it all up. The Creator’s final commandments to Mankind.
o And the living example of the Qur’an, its explanation, and interpretation, the Sunnah
of Rasulallah .

 Khulfa-ur-Rashidin. Rasulallah  said:

 “For those who live after me, they shall see great disagreements. You must then follow my
Sunnah and the Sunnah of the Khulafa-Ar-Rashideen. Hold to it and stick fast to it. For every
novelty is a Bid’a and every Bid’a is an error/misguidance”4
 The First Fitan : From the martyrdom of Uthman (ra) onwards. Formulation of the
Khawarij Movement and future foundations of the Rawafidh is established.
 Mu’awiya (ra) introduces hereditary office inadvertently creating the Umayyad Dynasty.
 Umayyads : 7th to 8th Century AD. Martyrdom of Az-Zubair . Shi’a support the Banu
Hashim side of Umayyads. Imam’s of Ahlassunna, such as Abu Hanifa, supports the Bani
Abbas revolt. Mu’tazila and Sufism takes root. Blossoming Hadeeth Sciences.
 Abbasids : 8th to 13th Century AD. (During the Abbasids, Fatimid Caliphate from 10th to 12th
Century : Ismaili Shi’a dominate the Arabian Peninsula Salahuddin Ayyubi fights back),
Jabariyya and Qadariyya take root. In 1095 Crusaders are formed by Pope Urban II.
Originally intended for “liberation of Jerusalem”.
 Caliph Musta’sim is defeated by Mongols. The sack of Baghdad. Ibn Taymiyya and the
Mamluks. [Shadow Caliphate, No officially recognize Caliphate]
 Ottomans : 16th to 20th Century AD. 1924 AD marks the end of the Caliphate. Expansion of
the Murji’ah and the Jahimiyya Sect.
