Connection BrainPOP video and quiz that the students will be given
and watching. Technology will be implemented by the
students through the use of creating their Chatterpix and
then through the doc cam when they share the Chatterpix
to the class.
Supporting - One way that I can support my students who need
Diverse Learners extra help would be to have one Target kid there to
assist with helping the student out step by step.
Culturally The students’ personal assets will be used to support
Responsive learning in the classroom by making the content relatable
Teaching to the students when I am able to do so. I will give the
students information that they can relate to so that they
understand that knowledge better. The students’ cultural
assets will be used to support learning in the classroom by
ensuring that the content I am teaching and the way that I
am teaching it is culturally responsive to the students in
the classroom.

Instructional I Do-
Strategies and - The teacher will begin the lesson by showing the
Learning Tasks students the Chatterpix that he/she created. The
(include activities, teacher will then go back over and review key
discussions, or details and main idea with the students. The
other modes of teacher will then explain that this is something
participation that they will be creating themselves today. The teacher
engage students to will then play the BrainPOP on Benjamin Franklin,
develop, practice, followed by a short quiz about Benjamin Franklin.
and apply skills and

learning have an idea about the information that the
objective(s) or students are gaining about Benjamin Franklin and

Learning tasks may video to answer the questions. The students will
be scaffolded to then be asked to write a question that they can
connect to prior come up with about Benjamin Franklin. This
knowledge and should be a question that they are able to answer
often include themselves. When the teacher sees that all of the
formative students have a question written he/she will then
assessments) ask the students to crumble the paper and throw it
into a pile in the middle of the room. I will then
have the students put into groups of three and tell
the groups to go up and grab a piece of paper and
keep it crumbled and assign them each an iPad.
They will then be asked to open up the app
Chatterpix. I will then give them an demonstration
on how to use Chatterpix and explain to them that
as a group they will be creating their own
Chatterpix of Benjamin Franklin where they will
be inserting their voice and asking the class the
question that they pick up from the pile that I had
them throw their questions into
You Do/You Do Together(optional)-
- The students will then work as a group to answer
the question that their group was assigned. Once
the groups are done, we will come back together as
a class and present these questions and Chatterpix
through the doc cam. When each group is
presenting the students from the group will call on
their classmates who have their hands raised to
answer the questions.

Connection to the The students will be connected to the arts through the use
Arts of them creating their own Chatterpix. This allows them to
use art through the lesson when they create their
Chatterpix of Benjamin Franklin.
Higher Order 1. What do you know about the question that your
Thinking group has? (Understand)
Questions 2. What questions do you think that Benjamin
(HOTQs) Franklin would have about his inventions today?
(Apply)
3. How are Benjamin Franklin’s inventions used
today? (Apply)
4. How did you design you own product about
Benjamin Franklin? (Create)
5. Discuss the different things that you have learned
to answer the question that you were assigned.
(Understand)
Re-teaching, Re- One new strategy that I can do to reteach for students
Engagement, would be to have students use a passage to read about
Practice Benjamin Franklin and have them answer questions based
on the information they read in the text. I would have the
students highlight the key information that they used to
answer the questions and explain to them that the
information they highlighted is the key details in the text.
Extensions One extension activity that I can have students complete if
they meet the objective would be to have them create a
question that Benjamin Franklin might have about how his
inventions are used today.
Lesson Closure The lesson will close with having the students present
their Chatterpix presentation to the students. The group
presenting will also answer questions that other students
might have about the content that they are presenting.
