Curriculum is a systematic and intended packing of competencies that is knowledge, skills and attitudes
that are underpinned by values learners should acquire these values through organized learning
experiences both formal and informal settings. The curriculum plays an important role in forging life-
long learning competencies, social attitudes and skills such as tolerance and respect. It also contributes
to thinking skills , creativity and the acquisition of relevant knowledge that is applicable to their daily life
and careers.

Implementation is the process of putting a decision or plan into effect. A teacher is a person who helps
students to acquire knowledge, competence and virtue. Teachers are the implementers of the
curriculum and for a curriculum to be effectively implemented depends on the quality of teaching and
learning strategies, learning materials and the assessment used in his implementation of the curriculum.

In curriculum implementation the teacher plays vital roles. Some of these roles are clearly elaborated
beneath.

To begin with , curriculum is content but when contextualized, it come alive for students. The role of
teachers in the curriculum is to help students develop an engaged relationship with the content. Active
learning will increase the focus and retention of the curriculum, resulting in an exciting learning
environment, teachers build lessons that include simulations, experiments, case study and activities to
deliver the curriculum effectively. This interactive approach interweaves curriculum and practical
experiences that immerse students in learning. The curriculum process provides opportunity for
teachers to be creative and put their unique stamp on the classroom experience.

Also teachers know their students better than others involved in the curriculum process. While the
government often dictates the skills covered by the curriculum , a teacher provides insight into the types
of materials ,activities and specific skills that need to be included in the implementation. The teacher
role in the implementation is to prepare a comprehensive lesson plan to cater for the needs of the
learners. The learner is the key is the key factor in the Implementation of the curriculum, so when the
learners needs are catered for , it assists the teacher to achieve the stated objectives in the curriculum,

Furthermore in the implementation of the curriculum ,It Is the role of the teacher to use the appropriate
pedagogies in facilitating teaching and learning , some of the pedagogies includes role play,
demonstration, experimentation among others, It is the role of the teacher of identify the kind of
pedagogies to use in each level of the lesson delivery so as to cater for all in the class that is both the
fast learner and the slow learners, thus sustaining the interest of the leaners and achieving stated
objective In the curriculum.

Not only the above mentioned are the roles of the teacher In the implementation of the curriculum.
Also teachers are the major pillars in the teaching and learning process . Without doubt, the most
important person in the practice curriculum is the teacher. With his or her knowledge, competencies
and experiences, teachers are central to any curriculum improvement effort, they are responsible for
introducing the curriculum in the classroom and outside the classroom as well. For a curriculum to be
effectively implemented, it is the role of the teacher to use the right resources in the implementation of
the curriculum. Teaching resources such as pictures, video and realia among others aid pupils to
comprehend the lesson better. Thus enhancing effective teaching and learning,

Lastly, the role of the teacher in the implantation of the curriculum is to provide a good classroom
