Chapter 01
INTRODUCTION

Arts And architecture college 1

1.1 Background

In one of the fastest growing in the nation, it’s crucial that we’re innovative
and responsible stewards in our designs. That’s why students and faculty in
the College of Art and Architecture take special consideration for our built,
cultural, natural and virtual surroundings — while producing designs that
safeguard sustainability, economic resiliency, cultural vibrancy and the
common good.
From at least 3000 B.C. to the present day, many civilizations have flourished
on the subcontinent of India. Each has made valuable contributions to India's
rich artistic heritage. The earliest examples of Indian art come from the Indus
Valley. The Indus Valley, or Harappan, civilization flourished from about 3200
to 2000 B.C.
Architecture: Science of designing buildings and structure, building environ.
(town-planning, urban design & landscape) and objects.
Arts (Visual arts): Fine arts, photography, painting, Sculpture and graphic
design.

1.2 Criteria of Selection

•As an architecture student I have experienced that in every campus the

Faculty of architecture and arts is located of a single floor with typical four
Studios, Staff rooms, Library, A hall and classroom. This decrease the
exploration of ideas and scope of creativity and also the students have to
share their residential units with the students of another faculty.
•There is need of an architectural and arts institute in Rajasthan which
research and promote arts and architecture in fields like design methods,
preservation of traditional heritage, sustainability, construction techniques.
• There are less institutional campus fully dedicated to arts and architecture
education.
•As the art and architecture courses is the stream where hand, heart and
mind should work all together in presence of nature.
