All of these licks focus on the kind of grooves Lari plays with her fingerpicking approach. They’ll
mostly also work with hybrid picking (pick & fingers) and some will even work with just a pick.
Experiment! Be prepared for lots of muted strums, rests on downbeats, accented notes on upbeats
and some quite intricate picking patterns. Work slowly and try to feel the groove. Licks 1-10 use a
slower backing track with a simpler chord progression, and Licks 11-20 are more difficult.

The first backing track looks like it’s going to be in G Aeolian (G A Bb C D Eb F) but the ambiguous
Gsus2 means that we can also use Mixolydian (G A B C D E F) up until the Ebmaj7 change. Lari
uses this flexibility to great effect. In this first lick, she starts with a punchy double-stop phrase built
around G5 and then does a pull-off phrase based around a G major triad (G B D). In measures 3-4,
she smoothly moves from G Mixolydian into G Aeolian.
