A NOTE FROM THE FOUNDER
Pinoy Devo formerly Hope in a Letter: Pinoy Devo started in November
29, 2018 when Morgan Harper Nichols, Founder of Her Binder Project —
a Los Angeles based online Christian Community approved my request to
start a Filipino based community of writers and artists to provide free
devotionals for Filipinos. This desire started when I joined Her Binder
Project in May 2015 where I wrote devotionals for women all over the
world. Now, this desire grows and in February 26, 2019, twelve (12)
Filipino volunteers joined the team from different parts of the country
and the world. It consists of writers, digital artists and photographers of
different genders and ages. It is my joy seeing creative people come
together to share Jesus to all Filipinos. Today, I pray that thousands of
Filipinos will join us to study each month.

Future Worship Pastor, a facebook page that caters
on issues, concerns and encouragements specially
for worship teams. He started the page in May of
2014 and the community grew by the grace of God.
As the years passed, FWP organized its annual
conference, dubbed as Crescendo Conferences held
every November starting last 2017 and its first
provincial conference in Cabanatuan last 2019. As
the page transitioned and as a core leadership has
been formed, the page transformed from a blog site
to a movement. Thus, the change of page name
from FWP to Crescendo Ministries Philippines.
Currently, Kuya DK works as a public school teacher
at Navotas Science High School handling Science and
Research Subjects. He is also a worship leader,

Daily Verse: Isaiah 40:31

Daily Devo: I was in my first year of college when I started to have troubles sleeping. I
thought it was just the homesickness settling in, but then the first few nights of being
sleep-deprived turned into weeks and months. If I could be able to squeeze in a few
minutes of sleep, I would eventually wake up panting and scared to the core. Anxiety
crept in on a daily basis, sometimes in the middle of a class or when I’m on my commute.
I knew something was wrong when I started to hear loud noises even on a silent
afternoon. And what scared me the most is that I knew that I couldn’t escape a thing
because it was coming from my own head. I felt like a sand castle caving in, a time bomb
ready to explode.

I was at the brink of giving up when thoughts of God started to trickle in. I started
reading the bible and listening to worship songs. Everytime I encounter anxiety, I
consumed more of God. The more fear attacked me, all the more that I retreated to
God’s words. And as the days rolled into months, I began to experience God’s divine
healing.

My past may appear as a big rock thrown to break me but looking at the bigger picture, it
was a rock thrown to break me out of my comfort and introduce me to a peace that is
secured in God.

And as a new year unfolds, let this good news of His healing ignite a fire of hope in your
heart that new beginnings are made from wretched pasts. That He, the Great I Am, and
His promises, will always come in every waking dawn. That His love everlasting, is written
on the first page of your 2020 until the last.

Cheers to the past that has brought you here. And here’s to another beginning as a child
of God—renewed, healed, and powerful beyond words.

Marahil ikaw ang tipo ng tao na mataas kung mangarap.
Maraming plano sa buhay na gustong makamit ngunit
kapag ito’y hindi nasunod ay panliliit sa sarili ang siyang
kapalit.
Ngunit nang nakilala mo si Hesus, ang salitang “bitaw”
ay nabigyan ng bagong kahulugan — bitawan ang mga
planong sa iyo lang nagmula, mga planong maaaring
sumira ng buhay mo; iyong panghawakan ang nilaan
Niyang plano para sa iyo at sumunod sa pangarap
Niyang mas malaki pa sa mundong iyong kinagagalawan.
At makikita mo na ang bunga nito’y katagumpayan.
Hindi madali ang sumunod sa plano ng Diyos. Minsan
nakakalito, masakit at mahirap dahil iba ang
pamamaraan Niya sa pamamaraan mo. Ngunit lagi
mong pakatandaan na walang natalo sa sumunod sa
Panginoon.
Let God orchestrate everything. Just trust Him and He
will make all things beautiful in His perfect time with His
perfect plan.

Friday, January 3
Daily Verse: John 21:15-17
Daily Devo: You probably may have experienced the
feeling of when you can’t face people or even yourself
because you’ve done something wrong. You may have
committed a mistake or failed to achieve a certain goal.
Guilt and shame come when you’re not able to satisfy a
personal benchmark or the standards of the community.
These are the lies that the past is trying to throw at you.
When Jesus resurrected, there’s a scene where He
talked to Peter who can’t even present himself to Jesus.
A simple backstory of a person who was regarded to be
the closest companion of Jesus and had the strongest
convictions for Him which he failed to uphold by
denying Him thrice. If you’re in Peter’s situation, you’ll
also lose your confidence to face Jesus. We all have
different versions of past mistakes that make us feel
unworthy to be with God, but one thing to take note is it
was Jesus who approached Peter first.
Jesus asked Peter, “Do you love me?” It’s interesting
that Peter denied Jesus thrice and Jesus asked Peter
three times as well. It’s just so wonderful to know that
no matter how many times you fail, God will always ask
you if you love Him. The same question from Jesus for
the third time changed its tone that made Peter grieve;
can he love Jesus as a friend and brother? It’s a
reminder that you can love Him not just because He is
God but also your friend by having a relationship with
Him regardless of your past. Lastly, understand that
Jesus gave a reply to Peter’s yes with a mission to take
care and feed His sheep.
Whenever your past is constantly bugging you, let God
remind you of your calling.

Daily Verse: Psalms 147:3
Daily Devo: You go through life all broken. You've had
bad decisions and failed relationships. Sometimes, you
think you are cursed and have no redemption. Beloved,
you might be feeling overwhelmed right now. You might
be thinking that God had abandoned you, but He never
did. He never will.
You might be asking yourself, why does God allow this
kind of pain? Beloved, God's intention is to never make
you suffer. Most often, He lets you go through such pain
so you could go back to Him. Just as a good father
disciplines his children, so does God correct those He
loves. He wants you to surrender everything to Him.
Nothing is ever too late with God. No matter how ugly
your life had been, or how broken you have become,
and despite the bad decisions you've made, God is able
to heal you. He is a forgiving God. He restores and He
saves. You just need to get rid of all pride and
stubbornness. God is able to use your pain and trials, for
His Glory. Nothing is ever wasted.
And once you humble yourself and ask for His
forgiveness, He promised to "give you a new heart and
put a new Spirit in you" (see Ezekiel 36:26). And then
you will come to know the kind of peace that only He
can give. You will also understand that God is always in
control and He will never let you fall away from His
grace.
Your past and your pain has a purpose. But that is not all
there is for you. It's the love of God and your identity in
Christ that defines who you are. Despite what you went
through, you are always His beloved.

Daily Devo: Maybe you cannot comprehend this but the fact that you're still here
means that God has carried you through it all.

Marami ka nang pinagdaanan, marami ka nang natutunan at napagtagumpayan. Sa

pagdaan ng mga araw, kung iisipin mong mabuti, marami kang dapat ipagpasalamat
sa Panginoon. Hindi mabibilang sa kamay ang mga beses na sinalo ka Niya. Noong
mga panahon na akala mo ay bibigay at susuko ka na dahil sa bigat at pagod pero
hindi pa rin pala. Nandiyan ang Diyos at patuloy Siyang magiging tapat sa mga
pangako Niya na pagpapala at pagsama sa'yo.

As you read this, it is God saying He is so proud of you! You might have started with
so little, but with God's grace you’re now ending up with so many victories.

And now that another year and another chapter will unfold, the Lord wants you to
treat this as a fresh start. You should stop dwelling in the past and forget the former
things. Ialay mo kay Lord kung ano ang mayroon ka ngayon and He will honor it. You
might have a small amount of seed in your hand now, but as you plant those in
good soils, the Lord will make it grow and you'll eventually see that it will bear good
fruits.

Give it all to God — He can make humble beginnings the most prosperous
outcomes.

ang buhay mo sa Lord? Intriguing hindi ba?
Hindi ito iyong pagsuko na ang ibig sabihin ay talo ka na.
Ito yung pagsuko na alam mong panalo ka. Panalo ka
kasi alam mo na ang pinagsukuan mo ng buhay mo ay
ang mismong nagbibigay ng buhay Niya para sa'yo.
Ito iyong tipong pinilit mong makahanap ng rason upang
baguhin ang sarili mo kasi pagod ka na, ayaw mo na,
pero walang nangyari. Pero noong naisipan mong
magdasal at sumuko sa Lord dahil sa isang hindi
maipaliwanag na dahilan ay dito ka na nagsisimulang
umiyak kasi nararamdaman mong nangungusap at
kasama mo Siya.
Kapatid, sa oras na hinayaan mong mabasag ka, inamin
mong mahina ka at kailangan mo Siya, doon Siya
papasok sa buhay mo. Once you take up your cross,
deny yourself and follow Him, dito na magsisimulang
mabago ang buhay mo. Higit sa lahat, marerealize mo
na mapalad ka at minahal ka Niya ng buo without
preamble. A Christian life is a changed life. Kapag
nagbago ka na at natuto ka nang sumuko, lumayo ka
man babalik at babalik ka pa rin. Kapag nasimulan mo
nang i-deny ang sarili mo just to pave way kay Lord,
mahirap nang lumingon pabalik. Christ is enough,
kapatid. Siya lang ang makakapag-satisfy sa longing
heart mo. Kapag naranasan mo na, no turning back na.

Bawat sandali, naririnig at nasasabi mo ang mga ito. Di

nawawala ka sa pokus. Dahil sa mga taong hindi dapat
pinapakisamahan, umaalis ka sa tamang landas.
Alam ni Lord ang hinaing at ang mga iyak mo. Gusto ka
Niyang tulungan at itayo muli. Ngunit, ikaw ba? Gusto
mo ba na manatili sa pagkakalugmok mo sa buhay at
magpalamon sa kasinungalingan ng kalaban?
Gusto ng Lord na isipin mo’t tumingin sa mga
"kagalanggalang, matuwid, malinis, kaibig-ibig,
mabuting ulat, may kagalingan, at may kapurihan" (see
Philippians 4:8)
Ang gusto Niya ay isipin Siya at tumingin sa Kanya at sa
Kanyang mga pangako. Sa Kanyang ginawa sa krus at sa
kanyang muling pagkabuhay para bigyan tayo ng buhay.
Ikaw, gusto mo din ba? Walang imposible sa Kanya.
Bangon, kapatid. Lumingon muli sa liwanag. Magtiwala
sa Kanya, at sa Kanya lamang.
"Sapagka't siya'y tumitiwala sa iyo." (see Isaiah 26:3)

Daily Verse: Isaiah 43:18-19
Daily Devo: All of us have regrets in life; and maybe you
have one in mind right now. You tend to recall those
rejections, failures, or disappointments without realizing
the fact that you cannot alter your past. Recollection of
bad, old things would always make you doubt God's
goodness. Today, Jesus wants to remind you not to worry
about the unfavorable circumstances you’ve experienced
before. You may not comprehend why God allowed those
things to happen, but know that He is working on
something new which no eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined (see 1 Corinthians 2:9).
New Beginnings: If you’ve walked away from God and do
not have the courage to come back because of your sins,
remember the story of the prodigal son in the Bible. As
long as you humble yourself to Him, He will welcome you
back with arms wide open because you are His child.
New Opportunities: If you’ve encountered many closed
doors in your studies, in your career, or in your
relationships, remember that the key is in God’s hand. The
door did not open not because you had the wrong key but
because you're not in the right door. If He can make rivers
in the desert, then He can also pave the way for you to
open the new door of opportunities.
New Mindset: If you cannot understand your situation
right now, remember that He is God and you are not.
Human mind cannot fathom the will of God. The best thing
you can do is to know Him more through His Words so you
can trust Him more with His actions.
Remember, the God who snatched you from your dark past
is the same God who is presently preparing you for your
bright future.

Sa pagsisimula ng yugtong ito, it's okay to look back and
remember all your past failures and victories but you
shouldn’t stop there. As you look back, take all the
lessons you've learned and leave the things that need to
be forgotten.
Kapatid, God is telling you today to forget what
happened before and do not think about the past
because He is going to do new things in your life.
You don't need to wait for new year to start anew. The
Lord can give you a fresh start today, you just need to
ask for it.

mo. Mga pangyayari na talagang gumawa ng marka sa
isip at puso mo noong nakaraang taon. But the Lord is
giving you another year to enjoy. Dapat mong i-enjoy
ang panibagong taon na ito. Pero hindi mo ito
magagawa kung pilit mong binabalik balikan ang mga
mapapait na pangyayari noong 2019.
Ngayong taon, isama mo si Lord sa buhay mo.
Magsimula ka muli ng kasama Siya at iwanan mo ang
lahat ng mapapait na pangyayari na naranasan mo sa
paanan Niya. Ngayong 2020, tapakan mo ang mga
mapapait na pangyayari ng nakalipas na taon, gawin mo
itong stepping stone nang sa ganon ay hindi maging
sagabal ang nakaraan mo sa kung ano ang inihahanda ng
Lord para sa’yo ngayong panibagong taon. At kung ano
man ang dinala mo ngayong taon na galing pa noong
2019, i-let go mo na ‘yan. Hindi ‘yan makakatulong
sa’yo. Hayaan mong kumilos si Lord sa buhay mo.
Buksan mo ang puso at isip mo. At darating ang araw,
ang mga masasakit na alaala ay magiging pagpapala.

Daily Verse: Proverbs 11:28
Daily Devo: Past? Madami tayo niyan at kung pwede
lang ikayaman ang struggles at problema, marahil
napalitan na si Bill Gates. You might be a breadwinner
and felt like a loser before. Nakakainggit makita iyong
mga kabatch mo na may sariling bahay at kotse, may
negosyo at may magagandang trabaho. Habang ikaw,
puro utang pa rin maging sa ngayon. Iyong tipong taga
"sana all" at “how to be you po" ka na lang at
sumuweldo para lang mabuhay. But God spoke and ask
you to give Him your gross income. It’s difficult and will
make you cry and hesitate to do so. But if you trust Him
fully, mangyayari ang isang bagay na hindi mo lubos
inakala.
Maybe God is calling you to do something now kaso may
mga pumipigil — ikaw at ang worries mo. Alam mo bang

karamdaman na hindi mo alam kung kailan malulunasan. Mga pagkakamali na
mahirap nang maituwid at mabawi. Mga mabibigat na problema na hanggang
ngayon ay iyo pang dala.

Hindi mo alam kung paano ka magsisimula. Hindi mo alam kung paano ka

makakabangon sa iyong pagkakadapa. Hindi mo alam kung sa Diyos pa ba ay
maniniwala. Hindi mo alam kung paano hahakbang sa iyong pananampalataya.

Ngayong taon, panghawakan mo ang mga pangako ng Diyos sa iyo. Katulad nga ng
paalala ni Pablo sa mga taga Filipos, "Ang mahalaga ay panghawakan natin ang ating
nakamtan na." (see Philippians 3:16) Panghawakan mo ang katagumpayan na iyong
nakamtan dahil kay Kristo. Sikapin mong magpatuloy hanggang sa Kanyang muling
pagbabalik.

Ang mahirap kasi sa'yo minsan kaunting problema lang, ayaw mo na. Nagkasipon
lang, liliban na sa pagsimba. Napagsabihan lang, nagtampo na. Nagkamali lang,
susuko na.

Alalahanin mo na binili ka na ng dugo ni Kristo kaya ang katagumpayan Niya ay

katagumpayan mo rin. Kaya't buksan mo ang puso at isip sa katotohanang ito.
Maaring totoo na mahirap nga ang sitwasyon na pinagdaraanan mo, subalit totoo
rin na may Diyos na nagligtas at patuloy na ililigtas ka sa kapahamakan o suliranin
na kinakaharap mo.

Daily Verse: Psalm 42:5
Daily Devo: At first, she was broken.
She was lost.
She felt empty.
Every day, she woke up with hollowness in her heart. At
night, she lay in bed crying herself to sleep. She couldn’t
even remember the last time she was happy. She felt
miserable about her life and insecurities pinned her
down. She saw herself slowly deteriorating. Her eyes
has no more gleamed the way they were before.
She couldn’t handle the problems thrown at her way.
They’re too much, she said. It bugged her until she
couldn’t function properly. She was so lost and felt so
alone with all the burdens from her family.
Until one day, light poured in and embraced her worries
away. She felt secured in her Creator’s arms. She found
hope and strength. She cried no more out of sadness
but wept because of His love. She raised her Hallelujah
and praised Him wholeheartedly. She anchored her trust
in Him and she felt whole.
And now, she is mended.
She is found.
She is filled.

Daily Devo: Alam mo ba na ang isa sa mga takot na
mahirap lampasan ng isang kabataan ay ang "fear of
failure"? Takot magkamali. Mga takot na nagiging
dahilan ng pagsuko. Ito ang takot na kapag hindi mo na-
handle ng maayos ay magiging dahilan ng isa pang
kabiguan. May mga babae na ayaw nang pumasok sa
isang relasyon because of failed relationship in the past
at minsan ginagawa nilang general ito. "Lahat ng lalaki
ay manloloko", ika nga nila. Nakakalungkot kasi
karamihan sa mga lingkod ng Diyos ay alipin ng kanilang
nakaraan at kadalasan ay nagiging sandata ni satan para
bumagsak ka. Marami sa kanila ang tumigil na sa
paglilingkod because of failures in the past. Lagi mong
tatandaan ang sinabi ng Diyos sa Isaiah 43:18-19,
“Forget what happened a long time ago. Do not think
about that. Look! I will do something that is new! Now it
appears quickly. Surely, you can see it. I am making a
road in the sandy places. And I am making streams in
the wild places.” The word forget ay nagpapahayag na
ang isang kasalanang pinatawad na ng Panginoon ay
dapat nang kalimutan. Bakit? Because God has
something new for you and He is ready to give it to you.
Kaya hindi maibigay ng Diyos sa’yo iyon kasi ayaw mo
pang bitawan ang mga nakaraan na patuloy na
umaalipin sa’yo. Paano mo ito gagawin? First, you have
to forgive yourself. Patawarin mo ang sarili mo para sa
iyong kabutihan. Ilagay mo sa isip mo na hindi tayo
perpekto at may mga bagay talaga sa buhay natin na
mahina tayo. Kung lagi tayong malakas, ibig sabihin nito
ay hindi na natin kailangan si Kristo. Second, you have to
decide to forget it. Hindi magiging adik ang isang adik
kung di siya nagdedecide na tikman ito. In order for you
to overcome the past, you should make a decision.

Daily Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17
Daily Devo: Relational. This is how I described the
person I am today because God allowed me to go
through series of testing when it comes to relationships.
For 26 years of existence, I met different kinds of people
whom by purpose have taken the opportunity to learn
from them. To learn the beauty of forgiveness when I
was betrayed by a relationship. To learn how to be
patient when He allowed me to be in different kinds of
personalities. To learn to listen when most of the time I
was given the opt to speak. To learn to appreciate
people even their smallest act of service.
But looking back to that old self, I never imagined that
the person I usually look at the mirror is the same
person with so much pride in herself. Who would rather
hurt others just to protect herself. Who always put any
relationship at stake for being careless with her words.
Who never likes to listen for I know I always have the
best words to say. But ended up to be a 'never
somebody else’s favorite friends. And it drained me
deep within.
But like anybody else who came to know Christ. I was
not even far from His saving grace. And as far as I
remember this is the first thing He changed in me. To
connect to people with good intentions. To care for
people because that's the right thing to do. To be
friends not to use them but to love them because Jesus
loves them. To help them for that's my mantra as a child
of God.
“A relational person”, it has been the best
characteristics He ever designed in my being. My prayer
is to always be someone else’s answered prayer and
that the life I have now is to be someone's blessing.

Daily Devo: Do you also get judged by people around
you? By those people close to you, whom you called
“real friends” and “family”?. Did they ever tell you stuff,
humiliating your personality even your faith?
Hypocrites! You think you’re an angel? Oh! C’mon quit
your make believes. You will never change.
Sometimes those closer to you are the ones mocking
your capabilities and righteousness especially if it
involves your faith in God. They don’t give you chances
to change. To them you will always be that person you
used to be. Because yeah, they were there when you
were in your most undesirable self. They’ve witnessed
you telling a lie, acting up like an actress, a drunkard,
someone who’s fond of vulgar words, with uncanny
attitudes, a disobedient kid— name them all, they knew
you so well. These led you to doubting yourself. It
sometimes makes you question your character and your
belief in the Lord. It makes you think that maybe you
really didn’t change at all because they still see that bad
image in you. Remember, you are a new creation when
you have Christ in you. The old has passed away and the
new you is coming. Believe that you’ve changed and
you’re still in the process of growing. Do not let people
dictate you as to who you should be, as to who God is
molding you to be. Do not listen to the lies that will
make you falter from being who you really are.
Forge ahead to who God wants you to be and never look
back to who you used to be. Pat yourself and walk a
straight path with God. As you continue the journey,
prepare to be in so much awe for you are to meet your
future self with a go.

Daily Devo: Growing up in a church, I thought I was
already good. I barely skipped church. From Kids Church
to the pulpit, the bottom line of it all is “Yes, the pastor
is right. We should do good.” I came from a Christian
family, but that doesn’t mean I am a Christian. And it
took me to college before I realize that all I had was
religiosity and not a relationship with the Lord.
Thinking that you are already good enough and that you
have not committed serious offense is being a hypocrite.
You are being proud and dependent with yourself and
with your achievements. And those are already and
offense against God. And being that, you are actually far
from God.
Yet it’s not too late to change. As the new year starts, so
is a new beginning available. No matter what your age
is, wherever you are, having a new life and a new heart
can happen. Just like mine which happened when I was
in college, yours could be today!
To get to God, you need humility. And to get to humility,
you first need to recognise that you are proud. Start
acknowledging that you are sinful, and you need to
depend on Jesus for salvation. Accept Jesus as your Lord
and Savior by believing that He died for your sins on the
cross. And make Him your Lord over all the other areas
in your life. Start walking with Him in every decision you
make, be it big or small.
God won’t condemn you with your past. Whatever you
did will not make Him love you less. You only have to
receive that love by making Him the authority of your
heart and mind.

Daily Devo: Are there times when all you could think
about are the mistakes you had made where you wish
to go back in the past and make better decisions? Mga
panahong hindi maiwasang mag-isip ng mga "what ifs"
hanggang dumating sa punto ng panghihinayang.
Ang bigat sa puso hindi ba? Most especially when you
feel broken and useless because of broken past (failures,
mistakes, or broken relationships)
The truth is, everyone has brokenness in life. Little did
you know, God is already using your brokenness to be
your testimony. Your brokenness can be your testimony
of how good God is in your life! You can use this for His
glory. You can be an overflowing channel of God's grace
to others.
Remember that broken crayons could still color a
canvas. God would begin to paint a beautiful
masterpiece with your brokenness in life. Just open up
your heart to God and allow Him to heal you. Even if you
can't see how God would turn your brokenness into
something beautiful, rest assured that He will never let
anything that's happening in your life gone to waste.

Daily Devo: Coming to work, you see your colleague in a new outfit and it
immediately made you want to buy a new outfit, too. As the day progresses, this
co-worker was praised by your boss for hitting the monthly target. You suddenly
felt uneasy, remembering the time that you have also hit the target but heard
nothing from the management. You go home that day feeling dejected, asking why
the world is never fair. Scrolling through your social media, you then see a
batch-mate’s post of him buying a new car. Envy slowly springs up inside of you,
thinking what were you doing wrong to appear empty-handed. Why does this world
favor other people more even when you know that you are working harder than
them?

May it be in the workplace or at school, it has always been normal to see people
being envious of other people’s success. I too, was once a green-eyed monster. And
let me tell you that it does more harm and destruction to the one feeling it than the
object of it. It’s a tortuous emotion that brings no positive goal. And it will only
dehumanize you.

The good news is that enviousness, just like every other sin imaginable, is already
conquered on the cross. Jesus’ sacrifice made it possible for you to overcome every
sin. So you don’t have to wallow in self-loathe or try your hardest to not feel even a
single titch of envy. All you need to do is to look more at Jesus. As you fix your gaze
at Him, all the other things of this world that you thought you wanted to claim, will
appear of little value. Your joy and peace will be secured in Jesus. And that is the
greatest goal that you can achieve in this life. It will be shinier than any dream this
world can ever offer. And yet you can still have hope that God will give you the
desires of your heart.

Today be reminded that Jesus is the goal and all your other goals are just a bonus.
There’s no need to want more, because in Him, more is little and in striving less,
you’ll have all.

Daily Verse: Ecclesiastes 6:9
Daily Devo: Comparison. One of the things that I hated
way back was not knowing my purpose. I was always
somebody else's shadow which is the reason why I
ended up frustrated. Most people knew my desire of
becoming a 'one day song leader' and eventually tried
different stuff like calligraphy, playing drums, paintings
and other things. Because I always wanted the limelight
than to highlight what God has been doing in my life. I
was afflicted by insecurity and hating people for their
accomplishments. And when the Bible says to enjoy
what you have rather than desiring what you don’t
have- it's serious about it. And I have compromised it in
many ways. I hated myself to the point that I was no
longer interested in what I am here for. I was not at
peace. I always sought for more. I was not satisfied.
But the good Lord didn’t fail to amaze me when His
timing ticked at the right time. He called me to speak
and write for His glory. That moment is my turning point
that it helped me a lot especially in appreciating
everything that comes with my calling. You’ll really
know that you're under God's will when peace
overflows. You experience a different level of maturity
and growth because He never stops using your life to
become a blessing to many people. You even learn to
appreciate people from different walks and calling and
even come to celebrate their small successes. You
become the best version of yourself and by His grace He
will also use you so that other people may come to
know Him and His love.
This would have never happened if I didn't obey. And
every day will always be a surrendering moment to His
calling.

Kasi iyon lang ang alam nila. Hindi nakikita ng ibang tao
ang magiging kinabukasan mo. Hindi nila nakikita kung
ano pa ang mga kaya mong gawin.
Ang nakikita lang nila ay ang mga pagkakamali mo. Ang
past mong hindi kaayaaya. Mga maling desisyon na
nagawa mo dati. Ang dating ikaw na mahina. Ang
malaking pagkakamali na nagawa mo sa nakaraan. Ikaw
na nabigo. Ikaw na kung tawagin ay average lamang.
Ikaw na hindi makita ang worth niya. Ikaw na walang
mararating. Ikaw na wala pang muwang.
Ang lahat ng iyan ay gagamitin ng kaaway laban sa iyo
lalo na kapag mahina ka. Wala namang perpekto sa

taong tulad ng Diyos.
Iyong pakatandaan na kahit ano pa ang sabihin nila,
magpatuloy ka. Tatanggapin ka ng Diyos kahit ano pa
ang nakaraan mo. Hindi namatay si Hesus para sa mga
taong perpekto, bagkus namatay Siya para sa ating
lahat.
Always know that your true identity is in Christ. He will
restore everything in you, and will always give you new
beginnings despite all your mistakes and shortcomings.

He is good even if you don’t trust Him fully,

Daily Devo: Have you ever been caught off guard by
people asking about your past? Oftentimes people are
afraid to talk about the past because of the mistakes
they’ve done. It made a big impact on every person—
how he/she acted and reacted to the present situations.
The Samaritan woman came to the well just to get
water and there was Jesus started talking to her about
her past. Sinong okay na pag-usapan ang nakaraan kung
ito’y ayaw nang ungkatin pa? Pero makikita natin how
Jesus turned that conversation to a blessing.
Maybe your past can be counted as the worst in the
world. Sinaktan ka noon, minaltrato, napabayaan, at
napahiya. Maaring isa ka sa mga nawalan ng magulang o
nawalan ng pag-asa dahil sa isang pangyayari na ‘di mo
na matakasan. Maaring hanggang ngayon ay dala dala
mo pa din ang lahat at tila ba ‘di ka makausad dahil dito.
Maybe your old experiences made you feel anxious,
pulled down your self-esteem, and made you feel ugly,
unworthy or never enough.
Dear beloved, you are not defined by your past.
Like the Samaritan woman (see John 4:25), you can see
her faith to the Messiah, to the One whom she thought
she have not yet seen but has hoped for.
Your past will affect you every now and then but our
hope is in Jesus. ‘Di mo pa lang nakikita sa ngayon pero
may patutunguhan ka. Darating ang panahon na ang
past na iyan mismo ang magiging patotoo ng kabutihan
ni Kristo! Laban lang! Kapag pinapaalala sa’yo ng
kalaban ang nakaraan, ipaalala mo sa kanya na may
Hesus kang mananagumpay!

Daily Verse: Psalms 71:20-21
Daily Devo: It’s the same thing last year. She walked
aimlessly searching for that satisfaction she couldn’t find
in the world — until one day, she found Light.
Pain made her bleed words, a harsh one to people who
want to give her the love she yearned for years. She was
always smiling, didn’t put her heart on her sleeve. She
grew up being scared of human attachments because
even her family smittened her.
She had trust issues. She became wary of making friends
with anyone. She put up her facade every day and
pretended everything wasn’t falling apart completely.
She told herself it’s okay to build walls upon walls for
self-preservation.
But Light embraced her.
She was lost but now is found. She wept and drowned in
His presence. She was reminded that she won’t do
things by herself: He will be there to hold her hand as
the season changes after the other.
Her purpose has been instilled in her — to make Light
known unto the earth. Tribulations may come, but she’s
facing them with a brave heart day by day. Her faith has
been renewed and her hope was once again restored.
She smiled, showing her pearly whites, looking up as the
sky changed hues.

Daily Verse: Romans 6:4

Daily Devo: Are you always declining an offer? Do you always say “no” when you
are given a big task? Do you ever feel like you are not competent enough? That you
are not capable to fulfill God’s calling? Do you always deny your strengths and
accept your weaknesses? The world sure moves in a constant competition
everyday. Some have their victory, others gave up and lived with a crushed spirit
inflicted by people or by their own fears.

Weak in emotions, weak in faith and weak to have the courage to challenge oneself.
Being weak to fulfill God’s call for you has something to do with the fears you are
living with. Maybe your past self is hunting you down trying to paralyze you to step
forward and making you feel unworthy to be called God’s child. You know God has
called you for something but your past sins overshadow the new you. It’s like a
creeping creature giving you chills at night and slowly consuming you until you can’t
breathe anymore.

Apostle Paul said that when Jesus was buried: your sins, your past self were also
buried with Him. So that today you can walk in the newness of life. That means your
past has nothing to do with your present nor your future anymore, because you are
made new by grace through faith.

Your past self may always remind you how cowardly you were. But carry on. Go the
distance. Your past doesn’t hold your future. Each day Jesus is renewing you, each
day is a new day to reach your full potentials for His glory. If there’s anyone you
need to challenge today that would not be other people but yourself alone. Are you
a positive individual always challenging yourself knowing that Jesus will help you
grow or are you the type who’s passive to progress?

makita ang gustong gawin sa’yo ng Diyos. Mga bagay na
nagiging dahilan ng iyong pagsuko. Mga bagay na kahit
gusto mo nang kalimutan ay patuloy pa rin na
pumapasok sa isip mo. One of the greatest and effective
tool na ginagamit ni satan ay ang word na
"discouragement". He is the king of distraction, he
wants to discourage you today and he wants to destroy
you because you love God. Lahat ng bagay na pinaplano
mong gawin sa Diyos, lahat ‘yan ay ayaw ni satan. He
will do his best para pahirapan ka at saktan ka. Alam mo
kung bakit? Kasi gusto niyang gantihan ang Diyos, hindi

worry about this because God is with us and we will
always experience His favor. Kapag nakakaranas ka ng
mga discouragement sa buhay, you have to get back sa
sinasabi ng Diyos sayo. In Galatians 2:20 it says, "Christ
died on the cross, and I have died with Him. I do not live
any more, but Christ lives in me. The life that I live now,
in my body, I live by the Son of God. I live because the
Son of God causes me to believe him. He loves me and
He gave himself on my behalf." Kapag may sitwasyon
sa’yo na parang ang hirap hirap lampasan, lagi mong
tatandaan na si Kristo ay kasama mo. Harapin mo ang
problema ng kasama si Kristo. Minsan kasi kaya ka
nahihirapan ay dahil ipinipilit mo na lampasan ang mga
pagsubok ng mag-isa. Hindi ka nag-iisa, kasama mo si
Kristong babangon at hayaan mo na ang nakaraan ay
magsilbing daan para maabot mo ang mga pangarap
mo.

Daily Devo: Si Kristo ba talaga ang laman ng puso mo o
maaring sa salita mo lang Siya ipinapakita pero iyong
totoo hindi talaga nakikita sa sarili mo si Kristo? Check
your heart kung Siya ba talaga ang dinidesire nito.
Maraming tao ang namamatay habang bata pa. Hindi
mo alam kung saan ang hangganan mo. Pero ang
sigurado ay mayroong kamatayan, bata o matanda man
dahil walang pinipili ang kamatayan. Sasayangin mo na
lang ba ang buhay na ipinagkaloob sa’yo ng Diyos sa
walang kabuluhang mga bagay? Maraming tao ang
naghahangad pa ng matagal na buhay. Ikaw? Saan mo
gagamitin ang buhay mo ngayon? Gagamitin mo ba ito
para sa Diyos o para sa mundo?
Huwag mong sayangin ang buhay na mayroon ka
ngayon. Gamitin mo ito para makatulong sa iba.
Maraming tao pa ang nangangailangan ng Panginoon sa
kanilang buhay. Kapatid, huwag mo nang balikan ang
madilim mong mundong ginagalawan noon dahil sinagip
ka na ng Panginoon mula sa iyong madilim na nakaraan.

iniwang wasak ng nakaraan mo. You might also feel
ashamed and think that God could never use you
because of this. Kapatid, hindi lang ikaw ang
nakakaramdam ng ganyan.
Truth to be told, these are just lies the enemy uses to
make you believe and keep you down so that you won't
be able to fulfill God's purpose in your life. Rebuke it and
ground yourself with truth!

Maniwala kang may plano ang Panginoon anuman ang
iyong nakaraan. Kailanman hindi magbabago ang tingin
sayo ng Panginoon. God sees His child when He looks at
you. You are someone with immense value, a value that
comes with a purpose. God is about to give you a crown
of beauty for ashes to take the brokenness of your past
and use it for something glorious. He takes broken and
shattered people and make them better than ever
before. It's all because of God's grace!

Daily Verse: 1 Timothy 1:9
Daily Devo: God did not only offer us salvation by grace
through faith so that our souls will be secured after
death. Along with it, He also gave us a holy calling so
that we could live this life with a purpose.
I had been just a church goer for some time before. I
thought listening to God’s word for an hour a week is
already enough. “My salvation is secured, and that’s
enough.” Little did I know that there were more in
stored for me. I didn’t know that I’d be able to create
my blog, be part of a small group, do ministry, and even
write this devotional piece. And by God’s grace, I believe
these are part of my calling today. And you have yours
too!
A pastor once shared to us the three types of calling that
God entrusts a person. First is the calling to be in
Christ—that is the moment we are saved. We are called
to be united with God and be part of His kingdom. The
second one is our vocation. In a certain season, some of
us are called to be students, some workers, some
preachers. It’s probably the hardest one to discern once
you graduate but one thing is sure, we are called to do a
job such that we can glorify God the most. Some can
glorify God best when they do business, some when
they become preachers. Third is the calling to do our
daily responsibilities. We are called to be excellent in
what we are tasked to do today. Along with it, to love
and bless the people around us.
Overall, you are called to be part of God’s mission for
the advancement of His heavenly kingdom: to make
Jesus known, honor God, and make disciples. You are
called to be part of God’s story.

Daily Devo: Congrats! You survived January 2020!
Gumawa ka pa ng listahan para sa faith goals mo.
Mabasa ang buong Bible sa loob ng isang taon. Madala
ang pamilya mo kay Kristo. Makapag-diet.
Makapag-exercise. Tumaas ang grades. Maging honor
student. Makahanap ng trabaho na walang Sunday na
pasok. Magshort-term mission. Mainvolved sa ministry.
Makapag-ipon. Pero bakit ganoon, when we do the
things that God has embedded in our hearts, maraming
kontra? Ang daming mga distractions na tila kumbaga
wala namang epekto pero in the long run brings us into
destruction?
Gusto mong mabasa ang buong Bible ng buong taon
pero bakit parang masarap mag-Facebook at Twitter?
Madala ang pamilya mo kay Kristo pero bakit parang
nakakahiya laging magshare sa pamilya ko?
Makapagdiet pero bakit kung kailan naman gusto mo
saka mag-aaya ang katrabaho mo ng Samgyupsal, libre
pa niya!
If you won’t honor your faith goals, it would be all for
naught. Be like Nehemiah na kayang magsabi na, “I am
doing a great work, I cannot come down!” (see
Nehemiah 6:3) Kahit may mga critics.
Samgyupsal, masarap ka, pero mas mahalagang
ma-honor ko si Lord sa body ko. Facebook, nakakaaliw
ka, pero mas mahalagang lumalim ako sa Panginoon.
Nahihiya ako na mag-share, pero mas mahalagang
mapuno ko ang langit. Mas masarap humilata kapag
weekend, pero mas honoring kay Lord if I’ll excel on my
studies and work. Mahirap magsakripisyo ng oras, pero
maglalaan ako ng oras sa ministeryo. Mas masarap
magkape sa Starbucks, pero mas honoring kay Lord
week
makapag-ipon at makapag-tithes. Be like Nehemiah who
stands with what honors God. Be like Nehemiah who
stands with what God values.
