Topic: Insecurities Ms. Nicole Glydel
“It’s insecurity that is always chasing you and standing in the way of
your dreams.” – said by Vin Diesel.
Good Day to you all, lend me your ears and please do not laugh, this is not a
laughing matter. Being Insecure is no joke. It is very hard for anyone to cope with
the world with these emotional disabilities. It’s even harder with people that have
the talent and sense to do something brilliant and magnificent, and being Insecure
is simply its cause. You can feel insecure from a variety of reasons, from a major
life crisis to a simple task, such as abusive childhood or a daily criticized comment
from your boss. For various reasons, we students should not be insecure by what
others have and what we don’t have.
First of all, every single one of us in this room is special in our own way.
One is great at Math, one is great in chess, and one is great in singing and so on.
We also have different weaknesses like one being bad at dancing, one being bad at
drawing and so on. My point is that every one of us is different and comparing
ourselves to others is a worthless action and it may even make you feel more
insecure.
Furthermore, Science has proven it. Researchers have found that comparing
yourself to others could result to feelings of envy, low-self-confidence, and
depression, as well as compromises our ability to trust others. It is actually
damaging your inner self, the way you think of yourself and other people as well as
your behaviour and personalities. Being Insecure has lots of bad effects for
extreme cases; it can cause conditions such as paranoid, narcissism, borderline
personality and many more.
Rather than running and hiding away from your fears and insecurities, you should
face it, overcome it and be more positive in life. Insecurity is just a barrier that you
must conquer to be happy in life. Comparing yourself to others is a worthless and
useless action and it must be avoided at all cost. No matter what happen, always
remember that God created you and we are different. And at the same time,
special in our own way.
