INSPECTION CHECKLIST FOR INSTALLATION OF HV AND LV CABLES.

2 Check for any damage on the cable.

3 Check that cable laying has been done as per IFC Drawing Cable Schedule

Check that no source of heat, gas, water & oil or drains, piping,

Air conditioning ducts are near the cable.

Check those cable number tags are provided along the route as IFC Cable Schedule /

per Cable Schedule Laid route Markup

6 Check that the cable bending radius is as per IS specifications.

Check those cable route markers & joint markers are provided as

per IFC drawing.

8 Check that all concrete cable trenches are filled with sand.

9 Check that the RCC covers of trenches are effectively sealed.

Check that cables are properly clamped / supported on cable

trays.

Check that the cable trays / pipe racks are sturdy & are designed

to withstand the weight of the cables.

12 Cable Termination

Check that Double compression flameproof glands are used for

flameproof equipment.

Check that Double compression weatherproof glands are used for

standard equipment.

Check for the correct type, size of glands used and correct

method used for cable termination.

Check for proper size, type of lugs used and verify correct

marking of phases on the cables.

Check that ferruling on all terminations Conforms to wiring

Check for proper connection of the earth screening cable to the

earthing strip.

16 Check that single core cables are not earthed at both ends.

Check for sufficient accessibility & facilities for disconnecting or

removal of cables is available.

18 Check all openings covered / plugged.

19 Check that no loose items are left in the cable end box.

Check for provision of canopy, to prevent entry of moisture,

wherever required.

21 Check for continuity of phase and earth

Check & record IR values of the cable at all three phases, Ph –

Ph, Ph – E & Ph - N

Perform & record HVDC test on the cables at all three phases

(Check & record IR values before & after HVDC test )

24 Check for tightness of cables to bus bars.

Check for the correct size of bolts used & check for presence of

plain and spring washers of proper size.

Transfer of documents. Eg: IR & PI value readings, Stage wise

inspection clearance / test reports etc.
