OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the topic, the students should be able to;
Determine the terms that are related to linear equations in two variables.
Learn to identify the value of A, B and C.
Give an example of a linear equation in two variables in the standard form.
III. PROCEDURE:
Teacher’s Activities Student’s Activities
I. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES:
Prayer
- Class, before we start, let us all stand and pray
(Calls a student to lead the prayer). -Amen.
Cleaning
- Before you sit down, please pick up all the pieces of
paper and trash that you might see under your arm - (Arrange chairs and picks up pieces
chairs and please arrange your chairs properly. of paper and trash).
- Okay class you may now take your seats. -(Take their seats)
Greetings
-Good Morning class! -Good Morning Sir.
A. ACTIVITY/MOTIVATION
A. ANALYSIS
- Class did you enjoy our activity for today? - yes sir.
B. ABSTRACTION
Ax + By + C = 0
Where:
A and B are not zero
1. 4x + 2y + 8 = 0
2. 5x - 3y + 11 = 0
3. 2x + 6y - 5 = 0
4. 7x – 4y + 20 = 0
-Very Good.
-The following are examples of linear equations in two
variables
(The teacher will answer number 1 and 2 which will serve
as an example).
Now let us try to find the value of A,B and C for the
example in number 1:
1. 4x + 2y + 8 =0
Therefore:
The value of A = 4
The value of B = 2
And the value of C= 8
2. 5x - 3y + 11 = 0
Therefore:
The value of A = 5
The value of B = -3
And the value of C= 11
3. 2x + 6y – 5 = 0 ANSWERS:
-The value of A = 2, the value of B = 6
4. 7x – 4y + 20 = 0 and the value of C = -5
-The value of A = 7, the value of B = -4
and the value of C = 20
- Very good! Give yourselves a Grandpa Shark Clap.
-(Claps)
-Okay class, did you understand?
- Do you have any questions? -Yes sir.
-none sir.
C. APPLICATION
Class, are you ready for another activity?
Questions:
1. What is the value of A in the equation Answers:
2x + 2y + 4 =0? 1. The value of A is 2
2. What is the value of B in the equation
4x + 4y + 16 =0? 2. The value of B is 4
3. What is the value of C in the equation
x + y + 4 = 0? 3. The value of C is 4
4. What is the value of A in the equation
x + y + 2 = 0? 4. The value of A is 1
5. What is the value of B in the equation
x – 3y + 1 = 0? 5. The value of B is -3
V. EVALUATION:
Construct your own examples of linear equation in two
variables on a standard form, then gave the value of A, B, and
C.
Give at least 5 examples.
VI.ASSIGNMENT:
Do an advance study on how to solve for the value of x and y
by using addition property of equality.
