b) The question paper consists of 40 questions divided into four sections A, B, C & D.
c) Section A comprises of 20 questions of 1 mark each. Section B comprises of 6 questions of 2 marks each.
Section C comprises of 8 questions of 3 marks each. Section D comprises 6 questions of 4 marks each.
d) There is no overall choice. However internal choices have been provided in two questions of 1 mark each,
two questions of 2 marks each, three questions of 3 marks each and three questions of 4 marks each. You have
to attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.

23. Find the 15th term from the last term of the AP : 10, 7, 4,……, – 62
24. A motor boat whose speed is 18 km/h in still water takes 1 hr. more to go 24 km upstream than
to return downstream to the same spot. Find the speed of stream.
OR
Prove that sec A (1 – sin A)(sec A + tan A) = 1.
25. Prove that the lengths of tangents drawn from an external point to a circle are equal. (proof only)
26. If sin 3A = cos (A – 26°), where 3A is an acute angle, find the value of A.
OR
If sec 4A = cosec (A – 20°), where 4A is an acute angle, find the value of A.
SECTION – C
27. Prove that √5 is an irrational number.
28. The sum of the numerator and denominator of a fraction is 12. If 1 is added to both the numerator and
denominator, the fraction becomes3/4.. Find the fraction.

29. If AD and PM are altitudes of ΔABC and ΔPQR, respectively where ΔABC ~ΔPQR, prove that
𝐴𝐵/𝑃𝑄 =𝐴𝐷/𝑃𝑀
30. The line segment XY is parallel to the side AC of ΔABC and it divides the triangle into two
parts of equal areas. Find the ratio 𝐴𝑋/𝐴𝐵

.OR
O is any point inside a rectangle ABCD. Prove that OB2 +OD2 =OA2 +OC2.

31. Prove that : (sin 𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑠𝑒𝑐𝜃)2 + (𝑐𝑜𝑠𝜃 + 𝑠𝑒𝑐𝜃)2 = 7 + 𝑡𝑎𝑛2 𝜃 + 𝑐𝑜𝑡2 𝜃


OR
From a point on a bridge across a river, the angles of depression of the banks on opposite sides
of the river are 30° and 45°, respectively. If the bridge is at a height of 3 m from the banks,
find the width of the river.
32. The angles of depression of the top and the bottom of a 9 m tall building from the top of a
multi-storeyed building are 30° and 45° respectively. Find the height of the multi-storeyed
building and the distance between the two buildings. (Take √3 = 1.73)
33. Prove that opposite sides of a quadrilateral circumscribing a circle subtend supplementary
angles at the centre of the circle.
OR
The incircle of an isosceles ΔABC, with AB =AC, touches the sides AB, BC and CA at
D, E and F respectively. Prove that E bisects BC.

34. A straight highway leads to the foot of a tower. A man standing at the top of the tower observes a
car at an angle of depression of 30°, which is approaching the foot of the tower with a uniform
speed. Six seconds later, the angle of depression of the car is found to be 60°. Find the time taken
by the car to reach the foot of the tower from this point.
OR
The angles of elevation of the top of a tower from two points at a distance of 4 m and 9 m from
the base of the tower and in the same straight line with it are complementary. Prove that the
height of the tower is 6 m.
SECTION – D
35. Solve the following pair of linear equations graphically:
x + 2y = 5
2x – 3y = – 4
Also, find the area of the triangle formed between the x-axis and the two lines representing
the equations.
36. A train travels 180 km at a uniform speed. If the speed had been 9 km/hr more it would
have taken 1 hour less for the journey. Find the speed of the train.

OR
In a class test, the sum of Arun’s marks in Maths and English is 40. Had he got 3 marks
more in Maths and 4 marks less in English, the product of their marks would have been
360. Find the marks in the two subjects.
37. Find all the zeros of the polynomial x4 – 3x3 – x2 + 9x – 6 if two of its zeros are √3 and – √3.

OR

The sum of the third and the seventh term of an AP is 40 and the sum of its sixth term and
14th term is 70. Find the sum of the first 10 terms of the AP.

39. Two poles of equal heights are standing opposite to each other on either side of the road
which is 100m wide. From a point between them on the road, the angles of elevation of the
top of the poles are 60° and 30° respectively. Find the heights of the poles and the distance
of the point from the two poles.
40. If a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle to intersect the other two sides in distinct points, then
prove that the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
OR
State and prove the Pythagoras theorem.
