ABSTRACT
iii
In recent decades, the significant demand for copper in industrial application is
increasing. This requires the improvement of their mechanical properties by the addition
of suitable alloying elements .The objective of this project is to study the effect of
chromium copper in longitudinal and transverse direction their compression strength ,
microstructure and XRD. The mechanical properties of these two have been
characterized in terms of compression strength . The mechanical properties and
microstructure of Cu were observed . This shows that compression strength is more in
case of transverse direction .The microstructure of the fracture surface after compression
was examined using an inverted microscope . The experimental result shows more
ductility in both case.
KEYWORDS: Copper alloy ; mechanical properties; microstructure
