HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT


Human Resource :
 Human Resource is the set of individuals who make up the workforce of an
organization, business sector or an economy.
 Other terms sometimes used include “manpower”, “talent”, “labor” or simply
“people”.

Human Resource Management :


 HRM is the strategic approach to the effective management of people in a company
or organization such that they help their business gain a competitive advantage. It is
designed to maximize employee performance in service of an employer’s strategic
objectives.
 A management function that helps managers recruit, select, train and develop
members for an organization.
 HRM may be defined as a set of policies, practices and programmes designed to
maximize both personal and organizational goals.

Human Resource Managers :


Human resources managers plan, direct and coordinate the administrative functions of an
organization. They oversee the recruiting, interviewing and hiring of new staff, consult with
top executives on strategic planning and serve as a link between an organization’s
management and its employees.

 Total Rewards(compensation and benefits)

Tasks of an HR Manager :
The primary functions of human resource managers involve the recruitment, hiring and retention of
skilled and qualified employees. The tasks involved in executing these functions include preparing a
job description, interviewing potential candidates, extending employment offers and discussing
compensation packages.

Roles of HR Management :
 HR plays a key role in the process of managing and efficient working of the business
organization, HR role in the business is more than what a normal departments do or
what an HR department does. HR role is to take a lead role in initiating activities,
provide guidance, support and services in all matters that are linked to employees. It is
about providing a service where by organization gets things done through people.
 HR should ensure that its strategies, policies, and practices are introduced, operated
and maintained with the ultimate objective of employee development and well being,
through development of a positive relationship between the management and the
workforce. HR should create an environment that makes people use their
competencies, so it benefits both the organization and individuals, and this is possible
by improving quality of working life, by attaining satisfaction through work. HR role
is changing, with increasing emphasis being laid onto sustained competitive
advantage, but the employee well being shall not be neglected, it is about caring,
listening to, responding to employees, this is the core of HR.
