SCI 112- PHYSICAL SCIENCE LABORATORY REPORT

__________________________________________
(ACTIVITY# 1 )

Group #: 4 Strand/Year & Section: ABM 11-B

Leader: Krisyllea M. Calubo Date: December 12, 2018
Member/s: Princess Mae Tiongco
Fritz Villan
Zion Genona

I. Target Learning Competencies:

1. Describe the number of model of the atom and the location of its major components (Protons, neutrons,
electrons).
2. Cite the contributions of J.J Thompson, Ernest Rutherford, Henry Moseley, and Niels Bohr to the
understanding of the structure of the atom.
II. Objective:
III. Materials Needed:

Beads of 3 different colors yarn/string periodic table of elements

Art wire orFuzzy Wire scissors

IV. Illustration

V. Data and Observations:

Atomic Name Sulfur

Atomic Number 16
Atomic Mass 32
Proton 16
Neutron 16
Electron 16

VI. Analysis:
1. Fill in the blanks for the atom you built:
Name of the Element: Sulfur Symbol: S
Atomic Number: 16 Mass #: 32
Number of electrons: 16
Number of Protons: 16
Number of Neutrons: 16
2. Classify the main subatomic particles according to mass, charge, and location in the atom.
Particle Mass Charge Location
Proton 16 Nucleus
Neutron 32 16 Nucleus
Electron 16 Outside the nucleus

VII. Conclusion:
We have concluded that the objective of the activity is to describe the basic struicture of an atom, to deferentiate atomic
number, mass number, and atomic mass and to describe some important features of subatomic particles. According to
Federick Lenz “ We are like an atomic structure. We've got a causal body that's linked together.”
