What I learned during the debate was how to persuade through pathos, ethos, and logos.

Using pathos during the debate really connects to the audience and influences their perspective

on the certain topic at hand. Logos shows the statistics and how it affects others as well as the

realistic point of view of the topic. Lastly, ethos shows the authority of why the certain person

can talk about the topic or references where the statistics came from. This can persuade the

audience to side with a certain group because it shows the amount of knowledge they have for

the topic. While observing the debate I learned that using certain words and emotion really

conveys passion the certain person has when talking about the topic. This also can persuade the

audience because they can see importance of it. I also learned that questions can be phrased in a

way to coax the opponents to give the answer the opposite side was looking for. Using this tactic

can also persuade the audience to side with a group.
