Indonesian Defense Industry

Defense industry is a national industry (public or private) whose products

either individually or in groups, including maintainability and repair services, on
the government's assessment can be utilized in the interests of national defense.

According to the definition above, then Indonesia as one of the island nation
in the world that is based on statistical data of the Interior Ministry of the Republic
of Indonesia in 2004, the number of islands in Indonesia as many as 17,504
pieces. 7,870 of them have names, while 9634 do not yet have a name. When
viewed from so many number of islands in Indonesia that spread from Sabang to
Merauke, the government is expected to provide the control system security
through its defense industry in order to remain modern and sophisticated
preservation of the unitary Republic of Indonesia.
Indonesia is famous for its natural wealth has different resources at each
island. An example is the Natuna archipelago which has recently become a hot
topic that became one of the causes of the South China Sea conflict. Natuna
islands have abundant natural resources such as natural gas, natural gas
reserves in the Natuna archipelago is the largest natural gas reserves in Asia
Pacific and the world. Due to the political, social, economic between several
countries around the South China Sea, namely Malaysia, the Philippines,
Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, China, and Taiwan is expected the Indonesian
government through the military as one of the defense agencies of the unitary
state of the Republic of Indonesia is able to provide security guarantees for all
the people of Indonesia.
Given this conflict, the Indonesian government increasingly wary of the
military to maintain security and stability in Indonesia. Alutsista (primary
equipment defense system) as the primary means to support national security
consisting of combat equipment is expected to be developed the technology so
as to compete with the tools of combat other countries. Alutsista sophisticated
and reliable human resources will support the performance of the military so that
the military is expected to give up work in order to maintain the security and
sovereignty of the unitary Republic of Indonesia.
As an example of defense equipment required by the Navy of Indonesia in
the South China Sea conflict is a warship that are tailored to the geographical
conditions Natuna regency, namely in terms of astronomical layout, area, climate,
and topography. From the astronomical, Natuna regency bordering the South
China Sea, Bintan regency, and Peninsular Malaysia. Natuna has an area of
264,198.37 km2 with a land area of 2001.30 km2dan oceans 262,197.07

uninhabited. The two largest islands include Bunguran Island and Island
