Subject :- Solid waste management in Vidyut Nagar Colony, Hisar.

Vidyut Nagar colony is spread over 110 acres and comprises 1076
dwelling units in total. It houses more than 3000 persons overall. Significant solid
waste made up of dry and wet waste is generated by the colony everyday. Waste
management rules and laws by the government mandate municipalities and
commercial establishments to act in an environmentally accountable and responsible
mannerand restoring balance if their actions disrupt it. Solid waste management
rules 2016 framed by the govt recently binds the residential colonies to manage their
solid waste on their own and that too sustainably. So far, colony waste and that too
mixed and unsegregated one is collected from common large bins placed at certain
suitable points by the contractor of cleaning and sweeping. That collected waste is
then transported through tractor and trolley to dumping yard managed by the district
authorities at Dhandoor-rendering the latter as mount of garbage.

Now that Municipal corporation Hisar has taken initiatives for adopting
sustainable solid waste management practices so as to stop further addition to the
mountain and then reduce it gradually, authorities are objecting to the further
disposal of waste at Dhandhor. Also, management of the DHBVN has directed to
take steps for solid waste management comprehensively in a way that is law
complying, environmentally sound and revenue generating. So, this office intends to
manage all the solid waste generated in the colony within it on its own in pursuance
of the directions imparted by the Nigam management and relevant govt laws and
rules.
The entire scheme of solid waste management shall be as below:
