a. Rule 13, Over taking
Any vessel overtaking any other shall keep out of the way of the vessel being overtaken, keeping
clear of the overtaken vessel until she is finally past & clear, if any doubt as to weather she is
overtaking another shall assume that this is the case & act accordingly.
b. Rule 14, head on situation
c. Rule 15, Crossing situation
The vessel which has the other on her STBD side shall keep out/ Alter course of the way and
shall, if the circumstances of case admit, avoid crossing ahead of the other vessel.
d. Rule 16, Action by giveaway vessel
Every vessel which is directed to keep out of the way of another vessel shall so far as possible
take early & keep well clear.
e. Rule 17, Action by stand on vessel
The vessel required to keep her course but this rule doesn’t relieve the giveaway vessel of her
obligation to keep out of the way.

3. MARPOL ANNEX 1-6

1. Pollution prevention by oil
tanker
2. Regulation for the control of pollution by noxius liquid in bulk
Category x, y, z & other
3. Regulation for the prevention of pollution by harmfull cargo carried by sea in packaged
4. Regulation for the prevention of pollution by sewage from ships
3 nm with disinfectant
12 nm without disinfectant
5. Regulation for the prevention of pollution by garbage from ships
Outside special area
12 nm for food waste
25 nm for dunnage cargo
6. Regulation for the prevention of air pollution from ships.
4. CARDINAL BUOY
5. ISOLATED DANGER BUOY
a. isolated Danger mark (or buoy) – It has a double ball top mark and is black with at least one red
band. If lighted its characteristic is Fl(2).

b. Safe Water mark (or buoy) – Red and white vertical strips. A single red spherical topmark will
be carried, whenever practicable, by a pillar or spar buoy used as a safe water mark. When lighted
they exhibit a white light. This light can be occulting, isophase, a single long flash, or Morse “A”.
If a long flash (i.e. a flash of not less than 2 seconds) is used, the period of the light will be 10
seconds. As a memory aid, remember a single flash and a single sphere topmark.

c. Special Mark Buoy – Yellow in color. When a topmark is carried it takes the form of a single
yellow X. When a light is exhibited it is yellow. It may show any phase characteristic except those
used for the white lights of cardinal, isolated danger, and safe water marks.

6. MSDS
Marine safety data sheet is a sheet of data following the name of goods with way to handle,
place to store, harmful & caution will affect ETC

7. Procedure to handling IMDG

Prepare to receive the cargo, MSDS to share with all crew to handle the cargo with care, place
the cargo on cargo space convenient with marking IMDG following by the IMDG certificate.

8. GM Calculation
a. Calculate all the displacement in MT (fuel, light ship, ship’s store, crew effect, provision,
cargo, other tank).
b. After get the total of Displacement, LCG, VCG..use the displacement figure at hydro
properties table to get LCB, MTC, KMT
c. To get GM = KMT (hydro table)-VCG (total figure)
d. G GO = FS effect (total figure)/Displacements
e. GoM (GM corrected by free surface) =GM-GGo
9. SIMO (standard international marine operational)

10. Ships handling

a. Maneuvering for 3 point mooring (deepend of kind operation)

- Prepare communication AFT & FWD station also a liaison to captain about distance
- Take & catch BDB buoy rope (FWD mooring buoy)
- Connected mooring rope to BDB buoy via panama chock/hole at FWD
- If possible to add the mooring length before tighten at bollard to avoid the tension of
FWD mooring rope too tension. (good type must little bit slack).
- Monitor the direction of current & wind.
- Start to moving by ship AFT proceed to take 2nd mooring
- Start to take the 2nd mooring which side of wind or current come, so that we can take
our ship upside windage.
- After completed to take the 2nd mooring at AFT side, continue to maintain the ships
position & keep control the tension of 2 pcs mooring rope. Be caution that some back
bound of rope will happen.
- Avoid swing too strong when try to approach the 3rd mooring at AFT. That mean the ship
proceed slowly
- After completed to tied up 3rd mooring, reduce slowly engine power to avoid backbound
of rope
- Keep engine & radar stand by during tied up for contingency plan.

b. Regulation to entering ZAKUM field area

- Update 500m zone checklist, monitoring the standard UKC during the ship sailing on
shallow water at Zakum field.
- Measure that all navigation system, steering system, propulsion system are ready to
use.
- Confirm to radio operator of field 1 hour prior arrival & 30 prior arrival also once arrival
- Confirm to SSRV at that field about our ship’s name, speed, position, job plan, area
entrance.
- Wait for the permit to entering the field.

c. Checklist to enter shallow water

d. Procedure sailing to shallow water

e. Standard UKC as per ZADCO requirement

f. Field chart of Zakum & symbol

11. Procedure to send
a. Security message (navigational warning )
b. Urgency message (PAN PAN 3X…)
c. Emergency Message (MAYDAY3X…)

12. Preventive action if any H2S leaking.

- Use the BA/ EEBD
- Shutdown all vent/fan/AC inlet to accommodation
- sound the alarm of H2S
- Mustering at muster point of H2S drill station
- Check all crew, if any victim to call MEDEVAC immediately
- Make a plan to avoid the location of H2S leaking, make the ship sail out from that position
- Ensure all room at accommodation free gas before dismantle the BA set.

13. Safety regulation especially for offshore.

- No smoking & open flare inside 500 mter safety zone
- No hot work Inside 500 mtr zone
- No maintenance at ship when inside 500 mtr zone
- No camera or blitz camera allowed to go to oil filed
- No lighter
- Use the master authority in case of danger job regarding of nature condition or any
others.

14. Objective of ISM code

ISM is (international safety management) some of manage for safety example rule, form, or any
other to fill & conducted to minimalize or to avoid the error/mistake causing by human error or
equipment error also the nature term & condition. & assess the dangerous & eliminate it during
we do that job even that before we start the job.

15. Compass error

a. Take time (UTC), ship position on GPS, Heading, Bearing (gyro/Magnet)
b. Calculate the GHA & incr
c. Get the LHA, Dec, Latitude
d. Calculate with ABC using Norries table
e. Get the TOTAL Error
f. Total Error – Var (Chart) = Deviation

True Az (Zn)-Compass bearing=Total error

Total error – Variation = Deviation
