Lesson plan in Health 8

I. Objectives: at the end of the lesson 75% of the students should be able to:
a. Analyze the chain of infection. ( H8DD-IIIa-16)
b. Discuss the stages of infection. (H8DD-IIIa-15)
c. Participate and enjoy the activity.
II. Subject matter:
a. Topic: Prevention and Control of Diseases and Disorder. (Communicable)
b. Materials: Learners Material, Laptop, and Speaker
c. Reference: Grade 8 Learning Materials and Teacher Guide
III. Procedure
a. Review
 Checking of attendance
 The teacher will give a short review on the different types of disease causing
organism called Pathogens.
b. Motivation
 The teacher will instruct the students sing a song “Row, Row, Your Boat” while
passing the ball with powder.
 The teacher then ask the following question.
1. What can you say about the activity?
2. What happen to the powder in the ball?
 After processing the student’s responses, the teacher will present the lesson
objectives to the class.
c. Lesson proper
a. Activity
 The teacher will instruct the students to form a big circle.
 The teacher then tell his student to pass the ball, every time the ball stop the
students with the ball will answer a question.
 The teachers then ask the following questions.
1. What do you call the agent that causes disease?
2. What is reservoir?
3. How the pathogen get out from reservoir?
4. What do you call transmission?
5. How the pathogen enter the next host?
6. What do you call the next host?
 The teacher will then discuss the process of chain of infection.
 The teachers will ask the students to share their experiences on how they
acquire a disease.
b. Analysis
 After the students share their experiences to their classmate the teacher
will then ask the following question.
1. What do you call the disease causing organism?
2. Why do people get sick?
3. Why is it important for you to know the stages of infection?
4. What if your friends has a communicable disease, what will you do?
5. Why do we need to protect ourselves from different pathogens?
6. Do you think there is a reasons put your health at risk? Why or why
not?
c. Abstraction
 What are the stages of infection?
 Do you understand the chain of infection?
 How can you protect yourself from diseases?

d. Application
 The teacher will read an article and let the students identify the chain of
infection.
IV. Evaluation
Direction: Answer the following question.
