1.0 Scope
This document will detail the steps necessary to assemble an Engine to the Root Tube.

2.0 Applicable Documents

3.0 Requirements
3.1 Equipment
3.1.1 The following tools will be necessary to perform this procedure:
 Awl
 Crescent Wrench
 Needle Nose Pliers
 Screwdriver, Straight Blade
 Deburring Tool
 Allen Wrench Set
 Drill Bits, Jobber Length, 1/8”
 Drill Bits, Jobber Length, 3/16”
 Drill, Electric, or Cordless
 Files
 Hammer, Plastic Tip
 Marker
 Open End Wrench, 3/8”
 Open End Wrench, 7/16”
 Screwdriver, Phillips Head
 Socket Set, SAE, 3/8” and 7/16” sockets

3.2 Materials
The following general supplies will be necessary to perform this procedure:

 Sandpaper, Coarse
 Lacquer thinner (Cleaning labels off of parts)
 Protective gloves

1.1 Remove the Bolt/Oil Return Line Connector in the bottom forward side of the motor.
1.2 Remove the plug in the bottom rear side of the motor.
1.3 Relocate and Reinstall the plug into the bottom forward side of the motor
1.4 Relocate and Reinstall the Bolt/Oil Return Line Connector into the bottom rear side of the motor.

2.1 Remove the (2) Allen Screws M6x20 that hold on the Water Inlet Bend at the back of the motor and remove the Water Inlet Bend
2.2 Rotate the Water Inlet Bend so the connection is facing to the right and slightly upward looking at the motor from the front.
2.3 Reinstall the (2) Allen Screws M6x20.

Note: Torque Value on the M6x20 Screws in this section should be 90 inch lbs of torque.

Note: This procedure is to reverse the pull on the Throttle Lever from the Factory position of Full Open Throttle to a Full Closed Throttle
in case of emergency if the Throttle Cable where to break.

3.1 Remove the hook end of the Throttle Return Spring that is in the end of the Throttle Lever which has a plastic grommet inserted in it. This
is the Full Throttle position end of the Throttle Lever.
3.2 Reinstall the hook end of the Throttle Return Spring into the other end of the Throttle Lever 180 degrees out from the factory position. This
is the Full Closed position end of the Throttle Lever.

4.1 Remove the factory Throttle Lever Bracket by unscrewing the choke tube forward and the attachment screw in the middle of the bracket.
4.2 Remove the Throttle Cable Attachment from the factory Throttle Cable Bracket and install it on the replacement PA Throttle Mount
Bracket, Left (#7610-004) and Right (#7610-005) at the aft end that will turn down.
4.3 Install the PA Throttle Mount Bracket, Left (#7610-004) and Right (#7610-005) into the existing screw holes that the factory Throttle Cable
Bracket came out of. The PA Throttle Mount Bracket, Left (#7610-004) and Right (#7610-005) will have a 90 degree bend in it at the aft
end and the bend will face down. In the middle of the bracket install the slotted screw and at the forward end install the Choke Tube.

5.1 Remove the brackets at the bottom of the motor that are used to mount the motor into the crate for shipping.
5.2 Install the Engine Mount Bar, 1/4 X 2" (#7220-006) onto the bottom left and bottom right of the motor where the mounts where bolted in while in the
crate. The Engine Mount Bar, 1/4 X 2" (#7220-006) top will have (2) larger holes in it with (4) smaller holes toward the bottom. The back end will be longer
once it is bolted to the motor. Using Bolt M10 X 1.5" (#B150-10M) with Washer, 3/8 X 1-1/2" Fender, Zinc Plt (#FW150-38), Engine Mount Bar, 1/4 X 2"
(#7220-006), Engine Standoff, 7/8 O.D. X 7/8 Long (#7220-007) and tighten into the motor block.

Note: Torque Value on the M10x1.5 Bolts in this section should be 34 Ft lbs of torque.

6.1 On the threaded end of the Oil Return Line install a Brass Fitting, ½” Hose Barb x ½” Fem/JIC Flare (#7240-025).
6.2 Using the 1/2” Rubber Oil Line, slide a Hose Clamp #6 (#7310-022) over the Rubber Oil line. Install the 1/2” Rubber Oil Line
onto the Barb end of the Brass Fitting, ½” Hose Barb x ½” Fem/JIC Flare (#7240-025). Slide the Hose Clamp #6 (#7310-022) down toward
the end of the 1/2” Rubber Oil Line and tighten the Hose Clamp #6 (#7310-022) down over the barbed area of the Brass Fitting, ½” Hose

7.1 Locate the Lord Mount Angle (#7220-002) which has (16) holes in it. Open up the (16) holes to 3/16”. Repeat for the other side.
7.2 Attach (4) Lord Mounts (#7220-014) to the Lord Mount Angle (#7220-002) using (16) Screw, #10-32 X 3/4" Dome Head (#S75-1032). Install
Screw, #10-32 X 3/4" Dome Head (#S75-1032) with a Washer AN3, Lord Mount (#7220-014), Lord Mount Angle (#7220-002), Washer AN3, Nut
AN3 and tighten.
7.3 Assemble the Lord Mount Angle (#7220-002) to the Engine Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Left (#7220-019) and Engine Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Right (#7220-
021). Install Bolt AN4-10A with a Washer AN4 through the Lord Mount Angle (#7220-002), Engine Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Left (#7220-019) and Engine
Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Right (#7220-021), Washer AN4, Nut AN4 and tighten. Note: There is a left and right mirrored assembly.

Note: Torque Value on the AN3 Bolts in this section should be 20-25 inch lbs of torque.
Note: Torque Value on the AN4 Bolts in this section should be 50-70 inch lbs of torque.

8.1 Bring the assembled Engine mount Assembly over to the motor and join the Lord Mount Angle (#7220-002) to the Engine Mount Bar, 1/4 X
2" (#7220-006). Install Bolt AN4-21A with a Washer, 1/4 X 1" S.S. Fender (#FW100-14), through the Lord Mount (#7220-014), Spacer, 1/4 ID X 1/4"
Aluminum, Engine Mount Bar, 1/4 X 2" (#7220-006), Washer AN4, Nut AN4 and tighten enough so the connection is firm but not too tight that the Rubber
Lord Mount does not crush or deform.

Note: Torque Value on the AN4 Bolts in this section should be 50-70 inch lbs of torque.

9.1 Hoist the Rotax 912/912S Motor over the Root Tube, 912/912S (#5320-018) and lower the Motor down over the Root Tube so the Engine
Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Left (#7220-019) and Engine Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Right (#7220-021) are sliding over the Root Tube, 912/912S (#5320-018).
Line up the two 5/16” holes in the aft end of the Root Tube, 912/912S (#5320-018) with the two 5/16” holes in the lower portion of the
Engine Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Left (#7220-019) and Engine Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Right (#7220-021).
9.2 Install Bolt AN5-30A with a Washer AN5, Engine Angle, 3 X 4 X 14", Right (#7220-021), Root Tube, 912/912S (#5320-018), Engine Angle, 3 X 4
X 14", Left (#7220-019), Washer AN5, Nut AN5 and Tighten.

Note: Torque Value on the AN5 Bolts in this section should be 100-140 inch lbs of torque.
