1. Master Data Configuration

1.1. Define Screen Layout for Asset Master Data

1.1.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Master Data > Screen Layout > Define Screen
Layout for Asset Master Data

1.1.2. Details
In this step, you define the screen layout control for asset master data. The screen layout control
contains the specifications for the field groups in the asset master record. You enter the screen
layout control in the asset class. This method allows you to structure the master record individually
for each asset class.

1.1.3. Files / example

1.2. Specify Account Determination

1.2.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Organizational Structures > Asset Classes >
Specify Account Determination

1.2.2. Details
In this step, you define the account determinations for Asset Accounting (key and description). The
key of an account determination must be stored in the asset class asset class. In this way, the account
determination links an asset master record to the general ledger accounts to be posted for an
accounting transaction using the asset class.

1.2.3. Files / example

Table: T095A

1.3. Copy Asset Classes from Reference

1.3.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Asset Accounting (Lean Implementation) >
Organizational Structures > Asset Classes > Copy Asset Classes from Reference (OAOA).

1.3.2. Details
In this step, you make copies of the asset classes that were generated from the G/L accounts. When
you copy the asset class, it gives you the opportunity to control the default values in the asset class
(particularly the depreciation terms) more finely than at the G/L account level.

1.3.3. Files / example

Table: ANKA

1.4. Deactivate Asset Class for Chart of Depreciation

1.4.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Valuation > Deactivate Asset Class for Chart
of Depreciation (AM05).

1.4.2. Details
In this step, you can lock asset classes for entire charts of depreciation. In this way, you can prevent
an asset class from being used inadvertently in a chart of depreciation for which it is not intended.

1.4.3. Files / example

Table: ANKB

Field: XSPEB

1.5. Define Screen Layout for Depreciation Areas

1.5.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Master Data > Screen Layout > Define Screen
Layout for Asset Depreciation Areas (AO21).

1.5.2. Details
In this step you define the screen layout control for the depreciation terms (depreciation key, useful
life, and so on) in the asset master record. This screen layout control is similar to the one for the
general master data section of the asset master record. You can use it in a similar way to control the
features of the depreciation areas in the asset master record. It is possible to make different
specifications in each depreciation area.

1.5.3. Files / example

1.6. Specify Location for Plant

1.6.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Enterprise Structure > Definition > Logistics – General > Define Location.

1.6.2. Details
In this step you define locations within a plant. A location allows a plant to be classified according to
spatial or situation criteria.

1.6.3. Files / example

2. Organizational Structure & Account

2.1. Copy Reference Chart of Depreciation

2.1.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Asset Accounting (Lean Implementation) >
Organizational Structures > (Copy Reference Chart of Depreciation/Depreciation, Specify Description
of Chart of Depreciation and Copy/Delete Depreciation Areas)

2.1.2. Details
In this step, you define your charts of depreciation. The chart of depreciation is a list of depreciation

2.3.2. Details
In Asset Accounting, you can only use company codes that have already been defined in Financial
Accounting as being generally valid. In addition to the general FI data for a company code, you have
to make additional specifications that apply for Asset Accounting. One of the most important of
these specifications is the assignment of a chart of depreciation to the company code. In this step,
you assign a chart of depreciation to each company code.

2.4.2. Details
You only need to carry out the following step if you have created more than one chart of
depreciation. Some of the definitions in the following Customizing steps depend on the chart of
depreciation you want to work with. If you have recently created several charts of depreciation (NOT
standard charts of depreciation), you therefore need to specify the chart of depreciation you want to
configure. The work you do in the system after this point will affect that chart of depreciation.

2.21.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Asset Data Transfer > Parameters for Data
Transfer > Date Specifications > Specify Transfer Date/Last Closed Fiscal Year

2.21.2. Details
In In this step, you determine the transfer date for the asset data transfer. This date determines the
status of posting to be used for the transfer (posting up to this date will be included in the transfer),
not the actual date the data transfer is carried out. This specification also determines whether you
want to perform the transfer during the fiscal year (with transfer of posted transactions/depreciation
in the current fiscal year) or at the end of the fiscal year (without transactions).

If the transfer date is not the last day of the fiscal year (according to the fiscal year variant in FI), the
system interprets this as transfer during the fiscal year. The system cannot transfer any historical
transactions. It can only transfer cumulative values from the end of the last fiscal year, and the
transactions in the current fiscal year (the second is only possible for transfer during the fiscal year).

Example:

transfer date = September 30, 2014

The system uses the assignment rules in the period control to establish the connection between the
asset value date of an asset acquisition or retirement and depreciation periods or fiscal year periods.
The assignment rules determine the relationship between posting intervals and periods in the given
fiscal year version.

4.7. Assign Depreciation Key to Depreciation Areas

4.7.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Asset Accounting (Lean Implementation) >
Organization Structure > Asset Class > Enter Default Values in Asset Class > Specify Default Values for
Depreciation Terms (OAYZ)

4.7.2. Details
In this step, you specify by Asset Class the Depreciation Key, Useful life in years and the Layout for
Asset Accounting.

4.8. Define/Assign Settlement Profiles

4.8.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting (New) > Asset Accounting > Transactions > Capitalization of Assets under
Construction > Define/Assign Settlement Profiles > Assign Settlement Profile to Company Code
(OAAZ)

4.8.2. Details
In this step, you define settlement profiles for settling assets under construction. You can store one
profile in the Customizing definition of each asset company code. The system then uses this key
when there is an asset under construction to be settled in that company code.

5. Inflation Process

5.1. Specify Depreciation Area for Inflation Calculation

5.1.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Asset Accounting > Special Valuation > Revaluation
of Fixed Assets > Revaluation for the Balance Sheet > Inflation Accounting > Revaluation Areas >
Maintain Revaluation Measures (AUFW)

5.1.2. Details
The revaluation measure controls which revaluation area the system takes the revaluation amounts
from when you dispose of an asset: during this procedure, the system calculates any gain or loss on
the asset disposal on the basis of the revaluated asset value.

5.2. Maintain Inflation Indexes (General Index)

5.2.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Special Valuation > Revaluation of Fixed Assets >
Revaluation for the Balance Sheet > Inflation Accounting > Maintain Inflation Indexes

5.2.2. Details
In this IMG activity, you maintain the inflation indexes that you want to use to revaluate your assets.
Unlike in Inflation Accounting for Financial Accounting (FI), where you enter one inflation index in the
inflation method to represent the general inflation index, in Inflation Accounting for Asset
Accounting (FI-AA), you have to assign an inflation index to each asset separately.

5.3. Maintain Posting Variants

5.3.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Special Valuation > Revaluation of Fixed Assets >
Revaluation for the Balance Sheet > Inflation Accounting > Maintain Posting Variants

5.3.2. Details
In this IMG activity, you maintain posting variants. If all your assets are to be revaluated on the same
dates, create only one posting variant. If, however, some assets are to be revaluated at different
intervals from others, create a separate posting variant for each case: for example, if you revaluate
some of your assets once a month and others once a quarter, create two posting variants, one for
each group of assets.

5.4. Maintain Time Base and Exposure to Inflation Variants (TBE)

5.4.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Special Valuation > Revaluation of Fixed Assets >
Revaluation for the Balance Sheet > Inflation Accounting > Maintain Time Base and Exposure to
Inflation Variants

5.4.2. Details
In this IMG activity, you maintain time base and exposure to inflation variants (TBE variants). In
Inflation Accounting for Asset Accounting (FI-AA), the TBE variants have two different purposes. You
assign them to either of the following:

Period control methods: These TBE variants control, ultimately, how the Asset Revaluation (Inflation)
program handles asset transactions that are posted partway through an interval.

Revaluation keys: You assign one TBE variant to each revaluation key. This TBE variant instructs the
Asset Revaluation (Inflation) program which inflation index date's value to use to revaluate the asset.

5.5. Maintain Period Control Methods (Inflation)

5.5.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Special Valuation > Revaluation of Fixed Assets >
Revaluation for the Balance Sheet > Inflation Accounting > Maintain Period Control Methods

5.5.2. Details
Before you can do so, you must have maintained the time base and exposure to inflation variants
(TBE variants) that you need. The period control method is a grouping of four separate TBE variants,
one for each of the following transaction types: Acquisitions; Retirements; Transfers; Acquisitions in
subsequent years.

5.6. Maintain Revaluation Keys

5.6.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Special Valuation > Revaluation of Fixed Assets >
Revaluation for the Balance Sheet > Inflation Accounting > Revaluation Keys > Maintain Revaluation
Keys

5.6.2. Details
In these IMG activities, you make the settings that control how each asset is to be revaluated as
follows: 1. Maintain the revaluation keys; 2. Assign a revaluation key to each asset master record.

When you come to run the Asset Revaluation (Inflation) program, it revaluates each asset using the
revaluation key that you have assigned to it.

5.7. Assign Revaluation Keys to Asset Class

5.7.1. SPRO Path / T-CODE

IMG > Financial Accounting > Asset Accounting > Special Valuation > Revaluation of Fixed Assets >
Revaluation for the Balance Sheet > Inflation Accounting > Revaluation Keys > Assign Revalution Keys
to Asset Classes

5.7.2. Details
In this IMG activity, you specify the default revaluation key for each asset class with assets that are to
be revaluated. When you come to create an asset master record, the system automatically assigns it
this revaluation key. You can, however, overwrite it.

1 – Explained at item 5.2 - Maintain Inflation Indexes (General Index);

2 – Explained at item 5.4 - Maintain Time Base and Exposure to Inflation Variants (TBE);

3 – Documents Type, Post Key (Deb/Cred) and tax for inflation;

4 – Activates the Inflation Accounting functions for the Asset Accounting (FI-AA) component – Needs
to execute T-CODE J1AI;

5 – Explained at item 5.3 - Maintain Posting Variants;

6 – Explained at item 5.9 - Define Transaction Types for Revaluation;

7 – Settle Revaluation Amounts Proportionately: Instructs the system, during the final settlement of
costs charged to an asset under construction, to automatically settle any revaluation amounts
calculated on the costs in proportion to the costs themselves;

8 – Split Revaluation of Depreciation: Activates the split revaluation of depreciation function for all
revaluation areas.

When you execute the Asset Revaluation (Inflation) program, it splits the revaluation amount and
posts it to two separate G/L accounts.

You can maintain the accounts in Customizing for Financial Accounting (FI), by choosing Asset
Accounting -> Special Valuation -> Revaluation of Fixed Assets -> Revaluation for the Balance Sheet ->
Inflation Accounting -> Account Determination.

Table: T095

If you select this indicator but you want to deactivate the split in specific revaluation areas, you can
do so in the IMG activity Maintain Revaluation Areas;

9 – Last Revaluation Date in Legacy System: Specifies the date on which you last revaluated assets in
a legacy system. You only need to fill out this field if you import legacy data, in which case, enter the
last date on which you revaluated the assets in the legacy system. Otherwise, leave this field blank.

Needs to set the date will run the inflation transaction – J1AI:

10 - Allow Revaluation After End of Useful Life: Controls whether the system continues revaluating
assets when they reach the end of their useful life.

If you select Yes, the system continues to revaluate the assets' scrap values. There is, however, no
depreciation to revaluate.

If you select No, the system stops revaluating assets when they reach the end of their useful life.
