The first thing one learns on the way is that giving brings much greater joy than taking.
Then, gradually, one learns that selflessness is the source of an immutable peace. Later, in this selflessness one finds the
Divine, and that is the source of an unending bliss....
One day Sri Aurobindo told me that if people knew that and were convinced of it they would all want to do yoga.
(silence)
We need a message for the 21st.... Do you have something? There are several probable texts, but perhaps you have something
of your own? Texts from where? From Sri Aurobindo. That would be nice.
But for the 21st, it would be nice to have something from you also, no? Not necessarily.... Do you think this (Mother hands
Satprem a scrap of paper) would do?
The complete unification of the whole being around the psychic center
is the essential condition to realize a perfect sincerity.
I have noticed that people are insincere simply because one part of their being says one thing and another part says something
else. That's what causes insincerity. It came very clearly: a vision, you know, an inner vision. So I tried to put it down on
paper; I don't know if it's clear.
But it's very difficult to remain in a permanent state of consciousness, to have always the same consciousness prevailing at all
times.
But that's when you're not unified, mon petit. It's been a-l-w-a-y-s like this for me (Mother draws a straight line in front of
her) for years and years. It comes from here, the psychic consciousness, and it's CONSTANT.
Recently, for a few moments, I had the experience [of the nonunified consciousness]; I hadn't known that in years-many
years, at least thirty years. From the moment the psychic being became the master and ruler of the being, it was OVER – it
is over – and now it's like this (same straight gesture). That is the sure sign. Constantly like that, constantly the same. And all
the time: “What You will, what You will.” Not a “You” up there, at the back of beyond, whom one doesn't know; He is
everywhere, He is in everything, He is constantly there, He is in the very being – and one clings to that. It's the only solution.
Do you think that note makes sense? Certainly, it makes sense! Read it again.

Is it understandable?
Well, I for one, understand!
What do you think?... Because it's something I discovered recently. I saw why people are insincere (even when they make
an effort): because now it's one part, now the other, now yet another part of them that asserts itself; each part is quite
sincere in its own assertion, but is in disaccord with the others.
But that means the psychic consciousness must penetrate the PHYSICAL consciousness.
Yes.
Because that's the only place where there is permanence.
Yes....
The psychic consciousness must penetrate the ordinary physical consciousness.
Yes.
That's what is difficult!
But, mon petit, I tell you, that's what happened to me at least thirty years ago.
The psychic consciousness has always been there, controlling and guiding the being. All the impressions, everything was
referred to it, like this (gesture of placing something before a spotlight), so it would give the true direction. And the physical,
for its part, is sort of constantly attentive to the Divine Command.
And that was constant, constant – even BEFORE coming here. It was so when I arrived here (long, long ago). And it has
remained unchanged. Only recently did I have the experience [of the nonunified consciousness], for a few hours one night,
two or three hours – it was horrible, really, it seemed like hell. It was to make me touch, to make me grasp the condition
people live in. Imagine when the psychic is no longer there....
But it's in the BODY – in the body: the body is listening, listening, constantly listening (gesture above or within) – listening.
But the Divine Command is not expressed in words, it comes as a will asserting itself (a straight and imperturbable descending
gesture). Should I add something to make it clearer?
You said, “The complete unification of the whole being.”
So that means the physical, too. People never understand anything. But it's perfectly clear.
Oh, yes!
So you think it's all right?
Yes, Mother, certainly!
I think it's important, because it came as an experience, precisely to make me grasp its importance.
We must put: “Message for the 21st.”

LAST INTERIM ISSUE of the WEEKLY AUROVILLE will be published on the 29th of JULY

Regrettably, those 5 weeks of Interim did not bring a fast-enough progression on the current deadlock situation.

As of the 29th of July, we will therefore dedicate the required full time and energy to settle constructively the situation,
and finally get what is needed for such a community service to function properly:

- Clear and complete implementation of the last year BCC/FAMC decision to close the previous mechanical printing system
- Decision under which Status to register this Auroville essential service (at present: none)
- Nomination of Managers/Executives/Trustees (at present: none)
- Agreement on Minimum number of Staff required to insure proper continuous service – and for which task
- Allocation of these positions until at least minimum number of staff is reached, and adequate training given
- Allocation of according number of maintenances and budget
- Formulation of an adequate publishing policy (insuring in particular the legal safety of the Editors in their work)
- Community-approved standards of report contents and clarification on how to apply them before publication.

Dear Aurovilians, Newcomers, Guests and Friends,

The bonfires at the Amphitheatre of the Matrimandir

on 28th February and 15th August are an opportunity for all,
individually and collectively, to rededicate ourselves to Sri Aurobindo
and The Mother and the ideals of Auroville.

To maintain this special atmosphere everyone is requested to leave

their cell phones and cameras at home or in their vehicle, or to deposit them
at the safe custody facilities that will be provided for this purpose near
the designated parking area outside the Park of Unity.

Please be aware that Cell phones and Cameras

will not be allowed in the Amphitheatre.

Transition period for the new version
of the News&Notes to emerge
Dear Community at large,
Over the busy years, this Service never came to have any
defined status, structure nor the proper resources to
function. We have now reached a deadlock situation.
News & Notes could not continue any longer to function
properly without clarifying this situation, so we are in the
needed process of reviewing the possibilities to start anew
with all the concerned bodies.
For a few weeks, we are trying to maintain the regular
publication under the interim name “The Weekly Auroville”
in order to still offer a continuous service to the community.

Registration of ALL Non-Residents (Guests,
Volunteers, Visiting Friends & Family) and
Verification of Documents
This is a reminder to everyone regarding the FRRO's legal
requirement that all foreigners staying in Auroville need to
be registered within 24 hours of their arrival. Please note
this includes Auroville volunteers, as well as family and
friends staying in private homes. In addition, registration
must be done with original documents (passports, visas);
photocopies are NOT acceptable. It is the responsibility of the
person taking the registration to verify the validity of the
document (please note the expiration date).
The Auroville Foundation also requires ALL Indian guests to be
registered, and to provide proof of identity.
Finally, please note that a new registration must be done each
time someone moves to a new location in Auroville.
The Auroville Guest Registration Service operates at 3 locations:
-Visitors Centre - at the far end of the Expo Hall (big white
building on the left), opposite Dreamer's Cafe – All days, ALSO
ON SUNDAY 9:30 to 12:30 and 2 to 5pm.
-Town Hall - reception area - Monday-Saturday 9:30 to 12:30
and 2 to 5pm.

OBITUARY
Ursula proceeds
In the early morning of 15 July, our
Aurovilian sister and friend
Ursula (Loose Tuschkewitz) of
Gratitude passed away in PIMS at
the age of 69. She had suffered
from a cancer (lymphoma)
affecting her spine. After a short
stay at PIMS, treatment in
Chennai during March of this year
could not prevent progression of
paralysis of the legs while the
cancer progressed. She returned to PIMS, where additionally she
got several minor strokes.
Ursula joined us from Germany in 2011 and, having worked as
accountant for a large German car maker, she was readily
welcomed to look after financial matters here in Auroville, half
time for City Services, half time for Varuna. Though she could
be at times somewhat strict, friends and colleagues much
appreciated her often quaint German use of the English
language, her great sense of humour, friendly goodwill and hard-
working stance in life.
Ursula lived in a small, completely open house in the Gratitude
community of which she had grown very fond, and where she
will be deeply missed. Cats were another love of hers: she was
an internationally well-respected juror for pedigree cats and
travelled once a year abroad to attend international cat shows
in that capacity.
As one of her doctors mentioned, Ursula was a model of a life-
oriented and affirming patient throughout the process.
Now she is free. Auroville’s love and prayers accompany her to
the Light.
Ursula’s remains were brought to the Farewell centre where
friends could bid her goodbye. The cremation took place at
Auroville’s mandapam in the afternoon of Tuesday 16 July
where friends and colleagues honoured her with flowers and
incense, and quietly stood by.

KIM Update
On June 1st last year, in harmony with the spirit and values of
Auroville, Kinisi initiated a program to give Aurovilians access,
rather than ownership, to sustainable mobility. Kinisi In-kind
Mobility (KIM Service) was born.
To date, Kinisi dedicated 85 e-cycles to KIM. This program is
much appreciated and has a waiting list. Nevertheless, do not
hesitate to register by coming in person to Kinisi, as the e-cycles
will be attributed on a “first come, first serve” basis when they
become available. When your turn comes, you can always opt-
out of the scheme if you are not ready or able to take the e-
cycle.
How KIM works:
 Each member receives stewardship of an e-cycle for his/her
personal use.
 KIM e-cycles cannot be lent, rented or sold to anyone. They
remain the property of Auroville, and will return to the KIM
fleet if members don’t comply with the terms of the KIM
contract or decide to give up membership.
 To become a KIM member, Aurovilians agree to contribute
850 rs/month to the KIM fund.
 The e-cycle is fully checked every month to make sure the
e-cycle is in good condition.
 The e-cycle belongs to Auroville. The members' contribution
to KIM will be used to maintain the e-cycles and to purchase
new batteries, accessories and spare parts.
KIM takes care of these hassles for its members, because we care
and we want to promote sustainable mobility for all in
Auroville.

Building meaningful relationships
with Auroville across the world
The Auroville Learning Exchange (ALE) is a
platform to explore ways to connect Auroville
with the world outside through the sharing of
ideas, cultures and experiences. Its vision is to
create the conditions for unity in diversity
through shared passions and long-lasting
relationships.
What? ALE represents a unique opportunity both for Aurovilians
and outsiders to build new relationships and gain fresh
perspectives with people who have a shared passion outside
their usual circle, by both hosting as well as travelling to a new
destination.
Why? A line in the Charter of Auroville provides inspiration:
…Taking advantage of all discoveries from without and from
within… One of the key aspects of Auroville is to be a place for
the exchange of ideas and experiences, with nations and
cultures from all over the world. This learning exchange program
will create opportunity for shared experiences and form hands-
on connections with other parts of the world, which are
currently “under-represented” in Auroville.
Who? Individuals and groups with a shared passion involved in
social, cultural, economic or environmental innovation.
Participants are expected to be: passionate, committed,
motivated and open to new perspectives as well as be able to
host 1 or 2 participants.
How? Identify individuals or groups with an area of shared
passion in Uganda or any other country which is currently under-
represented in Auroville. Write to
learningexchange@auroville.org.in to request additional
information as well as the application form which should be duly
filled and submitted before 1st of September 2019.
Where and When? Countries whose cultures are under-
represented in Auroville. For 2019 those with special interest in
Uganda are especially encouraged to apply. The program will
last around 6 weeks in each location, taking place anytime
between the 1st of October 2019 and the 31st of May 2020.

month. Aim of the project is to reach out into nearby villages to

ARTS IN AUROVILLE
A new comedy coming soon!
For everyone looking for some laughter, Francesca is directing a
play which is a 70’s Broadway comedy from the USA. It will be
performed on 6th, 7th and 8th December. Having previously done
a play called “The Odd Couple”, Francesca and Elke want to do
another hit with laughter backing up every comic scene.
As you would have noticed, the title of the play has not been
shared. This is because this play was adapted into a feature film
which was absolutely not up to the mark even though the play
itself was considered a gem of scenic writing for its impressive
humor and its precision to detail. The film gives a very skewed
idea of what the play might be like and Francesca and Elke
decided that it would be best not to reveal the name of the play
for the moment so as to not give Aurovilians the impression of a
vulgar comedy before they see it staged.
What makes this play special is that it is a slapstick comedy
which features universal humor. Hence this makes it accessible
to audiences of diverse backgrounds. It is about professional
people in theatre and revolves around their everyday life so the
set is quite complex because it is trying to show a play inside a
play.
Francesca believes that theatre needs to be looked at
differently here, to more and more be seen as a service to
Auroville and not only as a hobby. “Theatre produces culture
and Auroville has a lot of educational life but lacks a cultural
one”, she says, and suggests this could start by acknowledging
the requirements of theatre: a unit of its own, where sets and
costumes from different plays are preserved, and which provides
a space for theatre artists to practice. “Storing the set and
costumes of different plays would mean they would be reused
and performances could be organized in a sustainable way”, she
points out.
Francesca conducted a theatre workshop on 12th,13th and 14th
July to fundraise for the performance happening in December.
They are looking for more financial support, and donations can

forest he had created next to the Guest House.

i felt after reading Binah's article in AV TODAY that a new
category needs to be established for the 'master list'. anyone
who was accepted by The Mother - would be in that category -
the pioneers...Binah is also in that video she referred to playing
in the sand at Matrimandir - she must have been maybe 3-4 years
old... a lovely shot. As Mother left 46 years ago no one under 46
would be in this category - however for people who were part of
that amazing time between 1968 and 1973 they shared
something special and unique and something that can only
