Strengths and weaknesses of cooperative learning methods in learning writing

Writing is one of the important part of English skill, and the students also need to study writing.
So that to increase the the process of teaching writing skill, the teacher need to use the best methods in
process of teaching writing, because by using method, the students also easy to understand the material
and they also can get a new apportunity to increase their critical thinking in writing. As we know that the
method is very important for achieving learning goals. As we know the method is the way or technique
used by the teacher to achieve a certain goals in the learning process that has been targeted.

In this section Sri Maulida Wanting as a teacher in the class used cooperative method. It is an
educational approach that aims to organize classroom activities into academic and social learning
experiences. There is far more cooperative learning than simply arranging students into groups, and it has
been described as "developing positive interdependence." And she instrucTed Students must work in
groups to complete tasks collectively toward academic goals. Unlike individual learning, which is
competitive, students who learn cooperatively can use each other's resources and skills to each other (ask
questions of information, evaluate each other's ideas, monitor each other's work, etc.) Furthermore, Her
role changes from provide information to facilitate student learning. Everyone succeeds when the group
successed.

When Sri Maulida Wahyuni using cooperative learning method, She become more easily when
she teach the students by making some group, so the students also will understand more quickly, if their
teacher using a method in teaching writing. Because using this method can increase the students' thinking
skill. They can work by them selves without the teacher, they also can give some argument about the
material that they have discussed before. even thought learning without the teacher, they always think
hard about the material, they also can give some feeback to another students by think fair with each other.
This method is not only Have a strength but also have a weakness. Because, when the teacher
(Sri Maulida Wahyuni) using this method, she only devide the students become several groups to
discuss the material of that day. Ofcourse the she don't know which students are really focus on the
material and which students are only focus with other thing. so that's why she have to control them, so
they will not do another thing. It's will be better when the teacher looking for another method which make
the students think hard by theirselves and student also can give an argument to another students, so they
will not focus with another except the material that are given by the teacher.

The teacher ( Sri Maulida Wahyuni) should tried to be a great teacher for students by looking for
an effective method for the students, because Teaching without using method is like the teacher have
nothing purpose for the students. But as we know that every methods must be have an excess and a
shortage. It's back to the teacher, which teacher are creative in choosing the best method for the students.
the shortage of this method is when the students are divided become a group, they will not only focus
with the material but maybe another thing. And the excess of this method is the students can give
feedback to another students.
