ones who live in poverty because they cannot afford to purchase medicines prescribed by their
doctors.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
Our goal in this research is to prove that herbs can be used as an alternative for medical
treatment. To find out if herbs can be as good or much better than mainstream medicine
prescribed by doctors.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
1. Can herbs help more people most especially those who live below the poverty line?
2. Is it possible for medicinal herbs to replace medical treatment for diseases such as
cancer?

Every year, 14 million suffer from cancer and 8 million die by cancer. According to Kooti
(2017). Every year, an average 182 per 100 000 persons suffer from cancer worldwide, and 102
die by cancer. It is predicted that more than 13.1 million deaths will occur due to cancer worldwide
by 2030.
Herbal medicine has been an alternative to modern medicine and facilities. There are
many herbs that can help destroy cancer cells, according to Manila Bulletin, (2013). The latest
herbal medicine fad to hit the market these days is Guyabano. It is said that Guyabano can kill
malignant cells in the body without the side-effects which chemotherapy gives to the person.
Conclusion
Herbal medicine has its own pros and cons, it can be beneficial to one if used responsibly,
certain plants can kill cancer cells. However, it is still important that you are being assisted by a
professional doctor and never resort to quack (fake) doctors as it may make your illness worse. If
you used an unapproved medical herb, it may lead to toxicity, or even death. In our opinion, herbs
still has a lot of benefits, its just that you have to be mindful and knowledgeable to what herbs you
will use.
