Clairvision Astrology - An Introduction

Astrology for transformation

At the Clairvision School astrology is used for transformation, rather than for mundane purposes: it is a
tool, used to change your life. It allows you to look at yourself in all sorts of different ways. It opens a
world of potential – windows into yet-to-be discovered parts of yourself.

As such, nothing is fixed. The Clairvision work is based on a philosophy of free will. An astrological chart
has many facets. It is up to you to choose which qualities will be developed, and which avenues of life will
be explored.

Character-oriented astrology
In this chart interpretation you will notice the terms ‘character’ and ‘soul forces’. Characters are
subpersonalities, that is, various facets of the psyche. In a person, there may be several characters and soul
forces which are not yet consciously recognized, but have potential and may only surface with time - or
perhaps remain buried in the depths of the psyche.

The Clairvision approach sees the astrological chart as a map of a person's characters. Some of the
characters described in the interpretation will be very familiar. Others may not be apparent. They may have
been conspicuous only in one earlier phase of the person's life, or they may not have blossomed yet - or
perhaps they correspond to deep unconscious material. Because one of the most exciting sides of
astrological interpretation is to reveal hidden soul forces and potential, the characters described in the
interpretation that a person cannot recognize in themselves may actually be the most important.

This interpretation is valid both for tropical and sidereal charts

The astrologers of the Clairvision School favor a sidereal system of astrology (taking into account the
precession of the equinoxes) because this matches astronomical reality, meaning the position of planets as
you see them when contemplating the sky.

In a sidereal chart, planetary positions on the zodiac differ by more than 23 degrees compared to a tropical
chart. But the relative positions of the planets (aspects) and the positions of planets in houses remain the
same. Because the interpretation we are offering you is mainly based on astrological aspects, it remains the
same for tropical and sidereal charts.

Keywords

The Mars-Mercury combination tends to impart the qualities of Mars to the mental organisation:

• alertness, sharpness, mental agility, mental stamina;

• discernment, critical mind;

• can have a lot of clarity if he/she does not let himself/herself be heated up with anger;

• sharp tongue, can talk a lot;

• enjoys debates, likes to challenge ideas and people, argumentative.

This association of planetary forces can bring a strong sense of humour, and a witty temperament.

If not properly controlled, a Mars-Mercury aspect can also lead to impulsiveness and agitation.

Working on yourself
It could be that anger is one of your issues in life.

If you feel harassed by thoughts when meditating, it is essential that you engage in a systematic eradication
of deeply rooted emotional charges. On an unseen level, these are the fuel that feeds your continuous trains
of thoughts. Rather than fighting against the mind, engage in an in-depth exploration and cleaning of your
subconscious.

A Mercury-Mars mind is strong. This may mean strong mental resistance in the beginning. But once
overcome, your spiritual vision may well be endowed with especially strong qualities of discernment. The
Mercury-Mars association is one for ’penetration vision‘, or ’clair-vision‘. The stamina which used to feed
relentless thoughts becomes tamed through your practice and becomes an energy which allows you to
access hyper-conscious frequencies of the supermind.

If this chart is the chart of your partner

Make sure that all issues are talked out. A Mars-Mercury person can be the one who keeps a bee in their
bonnet.

6
Chart Interpretation

More generally, your partner is sharp, but not necessarily always easy to live with.

Perhaps you may learn to recognise when the Mars-Mercury energy becomes heated up in them and not let
yourself be caught in useless arguments and table-tennis types of discussions. The more you respond, the
more your partner's Mars will heat up. Unconditional opening and receptivity, on the other hand, may de-
activate the process in one minute and restore a field of open communication.

Whenever you feel that tension is rising, an excellent tactic can also be to deviate it into humour-a quality
that is rarely lacking in Mars-Mercury people.

Venus conjunct Mars (orb: 9°18’)

Keywords

The encounter of the 2 planets of desire, passion, libido and creativity.

The Venus-Mars combination can manifest in quite different characters. A person may well manifest one of
these characters at one period of their life, then another character of opposite polarity in another period-all
this even if they do not do any work on themselves.

The passionate character

Mars and Venus are the two planets of polarity, attraction and passion.

When they meet in the form of an aspect, they reinforce each other. The fire of Mars permeates the
Venusian sensitivity and adds stamina and spice to it. The Venusian flow tends to make the Mars planetary
force more directly geared into the sphere of emotions, feelings and sexuality.

The results are:

• Lots of fire, lots of desire.

• Emotional intensity (this combination is an emotion magnifier).

• A rich palette of feelings and also a depth to them.

• Strong attractions. Can be fascinated, enchanted, enraptured, captivated. (Think of mythological stories
relating the irresistible attraction between Ares-Mars and Aphrodite-Venus, and their passionate amorous
episodes.)

• Strong likes, ‘I love that’, ‘I adore him’.

• Strong dislikes, ‘I hate this person’, ‘I can't bear that’.

The sex maniac character

Mars and Venus are the two planets of the libido-Venus being the watery, sensual side, Mars the fiery side.
The reinforcement that takes place when they meet in the form of an aspect is likely to create strong sexual
needs, at least for periods.

If a person with this aspect is unaware of any sex maniac character inside themselves, then it is likely they
simply do not know themselves. An entire part of their sensuality remains dormant and more or less buried
in the background of their psyche, which calls for urgent self-exploration work.

7
Chart Interpretation

Conversely, this can be an aspect to burn the candle at both ends. The expression of this aspect can become
overdone in an endless multiplication of sensual experiences. Then it is essential for the individual to
realise that these will never bring full satisfaction and that, deep inside, they are looking for something of a
spiritual nature.

The creative character

Being the two planets of the libido, Venus and Mars are also those of creativity. It can, of course, be artistic
creativity-when the fire of Mars is channelled towards Venusian aesthetic values. Or the creativity can
manifest in any other endeavour, depending on inclinations and dispositions.

Whatever nature it may take, this creativity will prove a wonderful outlet for the inner build up of intensity
that accompanies a major aspect between Venus and Mars. This should be remembered in particular when
counselling someone with this aspect who is going through a difficult period of inner tension. Encouraging
them to express their creative side through an activity appropriate for themselves will allow the libido to
flow, which may greatly facilitate the resolution of inner conflicts.

Another important point is that people with this aspect may never have realised how creative they
potentially are, and therefore never applied their qualities to anything. Children with this aspect, in
particular, should be encouraged to learn some form of artistic expression, such as drawing or music, not
only because it is good for their flow of libido, but also because they are likely to have hidden talents.

Hands
A powerful piece of advice that can be given to anyone with a major Venus-Mars aspect and undergoing an
emotional crisis is: do something with your hands. The more creative it can be, the better. But even if it is
not particularly artistic, as in weeding the garden or taking a few tools and tinkering, working with one's
hands has a powerful balancing effect on the Mars flow of libido.

Grasping and free-flow

An important concept in the Clairvision work is that of grasping and free-flow. These correspond to two
different attitudes to sensual enjoyment (be it related to food, sex, or anything that can be an object of
desire). In the first one, the psyche ‘grasps’ the object, making the enjoyment a consuming experience. In
the other, there is a much more relaxed, fluid, open attitude to pleasure in which you can flow with the
experience-hence the name ‘free-flow’.

Mars is the planet of grasping, Venus that of free flow. The dialectic between grasping and free-flow
therefore takes a special importance for the characters related to aspects between these two planets. The
native may well start his/her career as a prime ‘grasper’, rushing into enjoyment of all kinds as a devouring
youth (Mars-Venus aspects give strong stamina).

From there, there is a learning curve of the free-flow to undertake. The quicker the person can move
towards free-flow, the more the Mars-Venus character inside themselves is likely to reach balance and
harmony.

Sun conjunct Mars (orb: 0°37‘)

8
Chart Interpretation

Keywords

Will power, born warrior.

Sun and Mars are the two planets of fire. In a major aspect, they reinforce each other in a combination for
will power and direction.

The Sun-Mars warrior character

Born fighter, innate need to conquer.

Self confidence.

Ambition, need to succeed, to reach the summit, to be the number one.

The Sun stands for the heart, Mars for the will and action; the combination gives the ability to really put
one's heart into what one is doing. It also introduces drive into the very core of oneself.

Will power: if you want it, you can make it happen-regardless.

Direction and directness.

The leader character

Mars’ fire enhances the leadership qualities of the Sun.

Need to shine, to be the number one.

Radiating authority.

Can be extremely sure of himself/herself, and thus command respect.

Good at making choices and decisions and discerning a direction, even in complicated situations.

Hot blood
Sun-Mars is the most fiery of all planetary combinations.

This aspect is therefore one for passion, hot emotions.

Possible flares of anger and aggressiveness.

Need to learn to control oneself. And even more: need to learn to relax. If one was to learn to control
through more tension, then the results could only be detrimental, both for the psyche and for the body.

The need to relax

There may well be more will power than the body can cope with. This means the person has enough drive
to keep themselves going even if their system is tired. Even if one can cope with much more than average
people, in the long run pushing too far could bring an exhaustion of one's resources.

There is a need to take care of one's (physical) heart and to regularly check one's blood pressure.

Working on yourself

9
Chart Interpretation

As there is a high potential of will and fire, you must regularly ask yourself “What I am doing with it?” As
a genie out of its bottle, such will potential cannot remain unused. If it does not work for you, it will work
against you. There is the need to find a focus for your will, a direction. Without it, there will always be the
feeling of a major emptiness in your life.

However, the Sun and Mars together usually find a purpose to set themselves in movement. There is
therefore an even greater pitfall-being caught in hard work and fighting to achieve something which will
not bring you real satisfaction in the end. This calls for a lot of sincerity, and the capacity to discern if your
thirst for achieving comes from the deepest of yourself, or just from a character. With a Sun-Mars major
aspect, there is bound to be an ambitious character inside you. This character may well have dictated its
choices at times, and propelled you into seeking wealth and power, or anything else, just in order to satisfy
its own desires.

As you grow up spiritually and your life motivation becomes more refined, it is essential to periodically
reassess whether your efforts are driven by a ‘thirst-for-success’ character.

Sun conjunct Mercury (orb: 0°22‘)

Keywords

A conjunction without great meaning by itself.

This aspect is not of major importance in itself. Some have even implied that a certain distance between the
Sun and Mercury is a factor of broader intelligence and that, conversely, a Sun-Mercury conjunction is
rather a narrowing influence on the mind. We do not believe a word of that. Anyway, the maximum
distance that Mercury can be from the Sun is 28 degrees. Knowing that the orb of conjunctions is 10
degrees, one can deduce that about a third of the human population has a Sun-Mercury conjunction! This
does not say much about the specificity of the aspect.

The Sun-Mercury conjunction is part of the ’chameleon‘ aspects. It does not mean much in itself. However,
it may significantly reinforce other aspects of the Sun and of Mercury.

Sun conjunct Venus (orb: 9°55’)

Keywords

Lovely and lovable, gracious, full of charm / or chameleon aspect.

Adds a Venusian component to the personality.

Aesthetic sense, love of beauty.

Sense of harmony.

Elegance.

Heart qualities.

Note: the conjunction is the only major aspect possible between the Sun and Venus, since the maximum
distance between the two planets is 48 degrees. (The only possible minor aspects are the semi-square and
the semi-sextile.) Taking 10 degrees as the orb for conjunctions, about 20 percent of the Earth's population
has a Sun Venus conjunction.

10
Chart Interpretation

This conjunction, however, is somehow part of the chameleon aspects: its significance is greatly modified
by other aspects to Sun and/or Venus.

Mars trine Uranus (orb: 6°17‘)

Keywords

Volcanic power, unstoppable, revolutionary.

The planet of fire meeting that of sudden outbursts-TNT combination with highly volatile potential.

There is fire in excess.

Mars-Uranus characters (subpersonalities) and soul forces

Sheer power, the typhoon character

Man/woman of will. Unstoppable, fierce. Can be violent, extreme. Arnold Schwarzenegger (Mars-Uranus
conjunct), Shirley MacLaine (the same). Also think of Robert Stack (conjunction) in The Untouchables,
Charlton Heston (square) as in Ben Hur, or Peter O'Toole (sextile) in Lawrence of Arabia losing all control
and becoming wild. Or Woody Allen (square) and Marilyn Monroe (conjunction), no less unstoppable, but
on other levels. Also think of Boris Yeltsin (trine) ejecting Gorbachev, or of Paul Keating (tight
conjunction) ejecting Hawke.

Volcanic libido
Electric, super-fast.

Storms of creativity.

Volcanic sensuality and sexuality. Flashes of great desire, possibly erratic at times.

Attracted towards originality and unusual circumstances.

The Mars-Uranus revolutionary

Mars engaged in a fight for a Uranus purpose of independence and freedom.

Not afraid of having recourse to violence. Che Guevara.

Or revolutionary on a higher level, as in Sri Aurobindo (conjunction), who introduced totally new concepts
in yoga and who, incidentally, fought the British with explosives during the fight for independence in India.

The terrorist
A variation of the former. Often intelligent, completely unpredictable, knowing no limits, highly dangerous,
generating storms of blind violence.

Moon trine Mars (orb: 1°27’)

Keywords

11
Chart Interpretation

Fiery Moon.

This basically disharmonious combination of planets can express in various ways-certainly not all bad.
Moreover, the native is in no way fixed in a discordant psychological framework. However, there is the
need for an inner work in order to integrate the opposite values of the two planets, which will probably be
more difficult if the aspect is tight.

Moon-Mars characters and soul forces

The fiery Moon

The good side of the combination: Mars adds fire and spice to the Moon feelings.

Emotional stamina. Hot feelings. Passionate nature. Ardent love.

Burning imagination.

Can become extremely enthusiastic about projects or people.

Can experience hot levels of devotion when engaged in a spiritual path.

The restless, ‘venom in the soup’ Moon

Agitation. The Moon propensity for chaos supported by Mars‘ dynamism.

Compulsive activity which is not always productive. Mars’ direction swamped in Moon malaise.

Has difficulty finding peace in meditation-the mind never seems to let go of thoughts. Restless emotions.

Never satisfied-it's never good enough. Pain in the neck character.

Mars trine North Node (orb: 4°31‘)

Keywords

Mars between one's past (South Node) and one's future (North Node). Indicates the necessity to positively
accept challenges in life and to take an active attitude towards one's destiny. Sitting and waiting for
opportunities is simply not good enough. There is a need to be outgoing, to not only grasp opportunities but
also make them happen. This is an incarnation to develop will, and to use it.

Mercury trine Uranus (orb: 5°19’)

Keywords

Originality and intelligence; imparts strong Uranus values to the personality.

Due to the affinity between the two planets, any aspect between Mercury and Uranus is likely to play a
significant influence in a chart.

It is basically a favourable combination. Mercury is the planet of the mind. Uranus gives intuition, higher
intelligence and ‘supermind’ connections.

Supermind

12
Chart Interpretation

Capacity for abstract thinking.

Super-fast thought processes.

Intuition. Flashes of vision and inspiration.

Intelligence. Lateral thinking.

Sun-Uranus and Mercury-Uranus are the two planetary combinations which can most directly suggest
genius.

Can also bring a certain degree of impatience/frustration-the person thinks and moves much faster than the
rest of the population.

Eccentric
Inventive, innovative.

Unconventional and original. Unconcerned with trivialities.

Independent. Can have difficulties being under someone else's authority.

Likes change. Can have some difficulty putting up with routines.

When they tell you: “You're going to be surprised...”, it is the truth!

Sense of humour
Likes to play with language and make disguised puns.

But not everyone can follow them-which is not without causing frustration.

The technological wizard character

Good with technology, computers.

Well capable of reading a manual.

Always knows about the latest trends.

Catches on to new ideas quickly and easily assimilates new concepts, for which they are thirsty,

turned towards the future.

Often have at least a phase of passion for science fiction.

Promethean mind.

Will often question whether their boss is as intelligent as they are.

The Uranus rebel character:

‘Change is good-reformation is better’.

Bored with slow moving people, jobs and life situations.

Hates to be told what to do. Rebellious.

13
Chart Interpretation

Hates following routines and established rules.

Here, the Uranus originality can take the form of a revolutionary ideology.

At its maximum, this character can become really dangerous (computer hackers, terrorists ): involved,
intelligent and efficient as Uranus can be, but totally out of control and totally unpredictable.

(The Sun-Uranus combination can give the same character.)

The Uranus nervous character

Hates waiting. Frustration. The world (and its people) are too slow.

Speaks fast.

Sometimes hectic or even erratic-in speech and in behaviour.

Agitation, nervousness, insomnia.

Mind rushes-lots of ideas in all directions in their mind.

Lacks fixity. Better at starting things than at finishing them.

Working on yourself
If the Mercury-Uranus combination plays an important role in your chart, you will love the Clairvision
work on the transformation of thinking and in particular the developments related to the ‘power of the
point’ and access to supermind frequencies.

Moon trine Mercury (orb: 2°26‘)

Keywords

Receptivity, memory, imagination, access to the unconscious.

What the astrological tradition says

The Mercury-Moon combination is regarded as good for imagination and memory.

The Moon brings receptivity to the mind.

The imagination can be related to Mercury having access to subconscious material (Moon).

Possibly feeling (Moon) other people's thoughts.

As far as we are concerned

Moon-Mercury is part of the ’chameleon‘ combinations which do not have a strong ’flavour‘ of their own.
It is likely to give completely different results depending on which other planets are aspected to it. In a
number of cases, the Moon-Mercury association may not even modify these other aspects very much.

Mercury trine North Node (orb: 5°29’)

Keywords

14
Chart Interpretation

To move towards one's North Node, that is, one's future, one needs to develop the qualities of Mercury:
versatility, flexibility, capacity to look at various avenues in life. People with this configuration may find
that they can solve a number of their problems by being light, not taking life with an overwhelmingly
serious attitude. Use sense of humour and develop a certain playfulness.

Moon trine Venus (orb: 7°51‘)

Keywords

The meeting of two planets of water, and softness. In a female nativity, it gives femininity; in a male
nativity, a natural understanding of women and easy ways of relating with them.

Moon-Venus characters and soul forces

The Moon-Venus darling sweetheart:

Gentle nature.

Grace, charm, softness, sweetness, tenderness.

Friendly with everyone. Lovable and loved by everyone.

The Moon-Venus seducer/seductress character

Deep understanding of passive-yin values. Enjoyment in unfolding the Venusian power of seduction.

Gets along well with the other sex.

Sensuality. Possibly an element of indulgence in pleasure, luxury.

At times, getting along with the other sex too well can bring a certain amount of troubles: multiple and
complicated relationships, or troubles due to having too many people attracted to you.

On the esoteric level:

A Moon-Venus major aspect can mean an affinity with the world of fairies, elves, and nature spirits.

Venus square Pluto (orb: 4°46’)

Keywords

Venus‘ sensuality and creativity with Pluto's superlative intensity and depth.

The intensity of Pluto penetrating the Venusian sphere of feelings.

This can lead to fiery and irresistible attractions, passion on the edge, nuclear bomb kind of emotions – love
that takes you to the limit!

Love and destruction

Pluto's symbolism of death and resurrection, when transposed into the Venusian field of relationships, can
make the person attracted to destructive things or people; it can also give a tendency to destroy the things
one loves.

15
Chart Interpretation

Abysmal sensuality
Passion over the edge.

Sensuality beyond measure.

Fascination with sex.

Fantasies going deep and far, acted out beyond the norm.

Sex maniac character.

Desire and sex as an unconscious pull to annihilate one's individuality and limitations.

Creativity beyond limits

The other side of the combination can be a great creativity-the Venusian creativity magnified through
Pluto's irresistible intensity.

Think of Ludwig Von Beethoven (Venus-Pluto conjunction), for instance.

Think of Steven Spielberg, for instance (Venus square Pluto).

Exceptional astral power

In Hermeticism, Venus is the planet related to the kidney, the organ of creative power, but also of astrality.

Pluto, the transcended Mars, can bring superlative strength to the kidney.

It is in relation to this deep, special kidney energy that the Venus-Pluto combination can have so much sex
drive, or make love for days and nights non stop.

There is however, danger of kidney exhaustion, if the Venus-Pluto character is allowed to rule the native's
life unrestrictedly and over a prolonged period.

Transcended sexuality, purity and alchemy:

There is, deep inside, a need to transcend sensuality (but preferably after having gone through it
thoroughly).

Can be a combination for extreme purity.

Pluto's phenomenal potential for transformation applied to the sphere of sexuality and sexual energy.

A highly alchemical combination (Venus is the planet of the jing, Pluto that of the Grail).

Potential for a real sublimation of the sexual energy into higher states of consciousness.

Venus eclipsed
As in the myth of Pluto abducting Persephone into the underworld, a conjunction or major aspect to Pluto
always leaves the possibility open for a total eclipse of the values of a planet.

Unacknowledged, unrecognised, depth of desire.

Completely out of touch with their belly, their desire, and their fantasies.

16
Chart Interpretation

May become aware of their real sexual desire only late in life, perhaps due to the trigger of a particular
relationship.

The problem is that by being out of touch with their Venus-Pluto sensitivity, a person is also likely to be
completely out of touch with the corresponding creativity.

If this is your partner's chart

Perhaps even more than with any other major aspect to Pluto, you will need to descend into your deep Pluto
side in order to match your partner. But will you be able to cope?

Venus trine North Node (orb: 4°48’)

Keywords

Venus between one's past (South Node) and one's future (North Node) points towards the necessity of
learning Venusian values to find oneself and positively walk towards one's destiny. Importance of
developing one's sensitivity. Some artistic, creative activities may be a great help. Conversely, there is a
danger of completely missing the point if one lives only according to materialistic, competitive ideals.

Sun trine Uranus (orb: 5°41‘)

Keywords

Originality and intelligence; imparts strong Uranus values to the personality. A life full of surprises.

A life full of surprises

Change as a way of life. Lightning and earthquakes-as in I Ching Hexagram no. 51.

Sudden opportunities and unexpected life circumstances. (Uranus’ transits are to be watched carefully.)

Prometheus
Progressive mind. Originality. Deep need to be different, not to conform to established patterns, but to
develop something special about oneself. Need to do what other people cannot do. Need to stand out.

Hates confinement in routines or boring social circles.

Pull towards things which are totally different and new.

Strong orientation towards the future. Promethean personality. Not afraid of transgressing limits if needed.

Deeply believes that he/she is destined to ‘something else and greater’ and therefore can achieve what no-
one else would even dare to attempt.

A combination for genius

Ability to connect with supra-logical layers of the supermind.

Can give a fantastic intuition.

Ability for mathematics and sciences.

17
Chart Interpretation

A born expert in technological fields.

Creativity. Inventiveness.

Sun trine Moon (orb: 2°04‘)

Keywords

Harmonious capacity to integrate opposite values.

This aspect is usually regarded as one of inner balance and harmony, and integration of pairs of opposite
values within the psyche: yin and yang, male and female sides of oneself, right and left, conscious and
unconscious, and so on.

More in depth, the significance of this aspect is not easy to grasp, for it corresponds to something extremely
deep in the structure of the psyche and its relation to the Ego. In terms of subtle bodies, one could describe
it as a harmonious congruence of the astral body and the Ego (which can be extremely useful in the process
of development of the subtle bodies.)

Rather than corresponding to one particular character, the result is more a ’flow‘, which positively affects
the whole psyche and favours integration and collaboration between the various subpersonalities which
constitute a person.

Sun trine North Node (orb: 5°07’)

Keywords

The Shining power of the Sun leading from the South Node (past lives) to the North Node (future). The
configuration points towards the necessity of manifesting Ego and heart qualities in order to find one's life
direction and fulfil it.

Jupiter conjunct Saturn (orb: 9°14‘)

Keywords

Jupiter and Saturn incarnate opposite sets of values. Jupiter is outgoing, optimistic, jovial, likes to take risks
and be in the limelight. Saturn enjoys introversion, is rather pessimistic by nature or at least cautious, and
enjoys solitary activities. And so on with a long list.

Thus all aspects of Jupiter and Saturn pose a challenge: how to integrate all these contradictory values?

If such integration can be achieved, then the result is a great power of realisation. Jupiter and Saturn are the
two planets of ’materialisation‘, with which one can carry on projects of a certain dimension and make
things happen in the world- the archetypal example of a sublime achiever with a Jupiter-Saturn conjunction
being William Shakespeare. Another example of irresistible force is Bruce Lee.

If the integration fails, then it is likely that oscillations between the two sets of values will take place. The
native goes through phases, being sometimes a great Jupiterian with all possible excesses, sometimes stuck
in the limitations and gloom of Saturn. When Saturn is on its good leg, it remains nearly unseen-simply
supporting the impetus of Jupiter with common sense, precise judgement and attention to detail. When
Saturn enters a depressed phase, Jupiter loses its expansiveness and joviality and the native feels enclosed
in a web of insurmountable limitations. These oscillations may well go in cycles of a few months, and if

18
Chart Interpretation

they are recognised early enough, perhaps the native may learn to minimise their effect by not yielding to
the gloom. Just the fact of recognising a recurring pattern often mitigates its impact.

Moon square Saturn (orb: 5°16’)

Keywords

Many good of the sides of Saturn, practical sense, self control, persistence; but also possibly a certain deep
inner sadness.

Not a harmonious combination: the Moon's watery softness and fertile symbolism may suffer from too
close an association with the structured and dry Saturn.

Many of the positive qualities of Saturn

Practical. Moon tendency to chaos fully counterbalanced and reorganised by Saturn.

Sense of emotional structure (as opposed to Moon scatteredness).

Self control, self discipline, restraint, tact, calmness.

Seriousness, reliability, dependability.

Persistence. Honesty, straightness.

Simplicity, frugality, good at saving, thriftiness.

Good with figures (a great combination for accounting).

Being an aspect of manifestation, the square helps to use these qualities dynamically and achieve practical
realisations with them.

The cold Moon character

Sadness. Feeling (Moon) cold (Saturn) and/or cold feelings. Loneliness, aloneness. Episodes of depression.
“Sometimes I feel like a motherless child” (mother = Moon, Saturn = separation).

Lack of affection at key times of their past, in particular childhood. Poor little child character. Painful
memories of the past.

A child with such a combination should be flooded with affection and warmth. But can they take it? There
is a tendency to isolate oneself and not allow love to reach through.

Working on yourself: look for the inner child

A Moon-Saturn major aspect often calls for the healing of the child inside you, and of the deep sadness it
carries. Learn the Moon values of playfulness. Indulge in joy, not in sadness.

Do not necessarily blame your parents for your present moods. With Moon-Saturn, these might well be
exactly the same even if you had had fantastic parents.

Learn to give more love, but even more important, learn to receive it. Allow other people's warmth to reach
you.

Learn to receive love from the cosmic Mother.

Chart Interpretation

Jupiter square Neptune (orb: 5°19‘)

Keywords

A warm and harmonious combination

The meeting of Jupiter and Neptune is a happy one: these are two planets of spirituality and vastness which
go well together. Neptune adds a spiritual dimension to Jupiter. Jupiter holds the Neptunian potential and
helps actualise it out of blurriness. Jupiter's warmth enhances the benevolent values inherent to Neptune and
minimises the coldness sometimes attached to it.

Neptunian sensitivity in Jupiterian proportions

Empathy, immense compassion.

Jupiter's generosity and Neptune selflessness.

High ideals.

High artistic sensitivity and inspiration

Deep experiences and revelations through music.

Natural perception of the sacred side of arts.

Highest spirituality
Jupiter the hierophant, Neptune the mystic-one of the most spiritual combinations of planets.

Premonitory dreams.

Faith, capital F (as in the pistis of the Gnostic gospels).

Visionary (think of Edgar Cayce, who had Moon-Neptune conjunct in the 10th house, and trine to Jupiter in
the 6th).

Natural understanding of the world of the gods and of high spiritual realities.

Great mystic. Transcendental experiences.

Experiences of expansion and vastness. Universal love.

Vast illuminations.

The Neptunian rich inner spiritual life expanding under the Jupiter influence:

The prophet. The hierophant. High priest(ess).

Notice that this chart presents a Neptune-Pluto sextile (the aspect which appeared during more than half of
the 20th century), which further reinforces the Jupiter-Neptune combination.

Working on yourself
If you have a major Jupiter-Neptune aspect, the challenge is double.

20
Chart Interpretation

On the one hand, revealing the big values of spirituality that are dormant inside you.

On the other hand, avoiding a number of pitfalls linked to Neptune and possibly further reinforced by the
association with Jupiter.

The possible pitfalls:

A fantastic ability to dream, and possibly to fool yourself. Neptune delusions, taking Jupiterian proportions.
There is a great need for carefully chosen advisers that make sure you remain in touch with reality and do
not escape into a world of your own.

Perhaps the greatest of all perils, however, is that the Neptunian inherent blurriness will never be broken
through and that the wonderful spiritual potential that is within you may never be contacted.

As always with Neptune, there is the need to fight chaos, dreaminess, vagueness, and procrastination.

Alcohol, tobacco and drugs are to be avoided at any cost, for they favour the inner confusion-the great
enemy of people with a strong Neptune. Moreover, the Jupiterian tendency to do things in large measure
could precipitate you into pronounced levels of addiction.

The dreamer character

Deeply out of touch with reality.

Layers and layers of false conceptions inside, in which the person strongly believes (Jupiter-Neptune is a
combination for faith).

Lives in an imaginary reality of his/her own. Perhaps escaping in novels or videos (waiting for virtual
reality).

A long string of disillusionment experiences in life.

Can end up completely isolated and useless.

Moon trine Uranus (orb: 7°45’)

Keywords

Uranus is the planet of unexpected flashes and sudden changes. The Moon signifies feelings and sensitivity.

This aspect will imprint a Uranus flavour on this Moon sensitivity. Thus the native tends to know
immediately if he/she likes someone or not; attractions, likes and dislikes tend to be clearly marked, and are
as intense as they are sudden.

When this happens, the native should always question whether the first impression is justified, and whether
the person is really as their intuition suggested.

Uranus has a stirring, awakening, and even shaking influence over the Moon values.

This brings originality to the native's imagination. It is also a factor of a wakefulness and sharpness-the
opposite of a pre-personal, dreamy, sleepy Moon. There has to be strong passions at times.

Moon is the planet of memory, and Uranus that of the supermind. The association can bring an exceptional
memory.

21
Chart Interpretation

The Moon-Uranus combination can also bring extremely psychic qualities: flashes of intuition,
clairvoyance, prophetic dreams and inspiration. The Moon is the planet of intuition and imagination,
Uranus that of third eye flashes and supermind inspiration. The association of the two can lead to great
insights into non-physical realities, as well as visions of the future.

Only patient cultivation and practice can bring this visionary potential to fruition. But people with Moon-
Uranus aspects should be made aware that such potential is likely to be dormant inside them, whether they
suspect it or not.

Moon trine North Node (orb: 3°03‘)

Keywords

The North Node points towards destiny. Its association with the Moon suggest that it is by experiencing the
values of the Moon within oneself that one finds one's destiny. This points towards the necessity of using
one's sensitivity and yin qualities, as well as imagination and right side of the brain. And also the values of
nurturing and of service rendered to others. It can also mean that there is a need to connect with the child
inside and develop playful attitudes to life.

This configuration may also manifest in the form of a deep pull for having children, in particular-but no
only!-in a female nativity.

Uranus conjunct Black Moon (orb: 4°54’)

Keywords

The Black Moon reinforces the independent and original nature of Uranus. If well aspected to the rest of the
chart, it can be an extremely creative aspect.

Black Moon-Lilith and Uranus have a number of features in common: taste for independence, dislike of
routines and anything which can perceived as enslaving constraints, affinity with original things, and a
rebel-if not rebellious-nature. (In Kabbalistic mythology, Lilith was Adam's first wife. She rebelled and left
him because she did not want to be subjected to his control.)

On the lower mode, this aspect can enhance the potential restlessness associated with Uranus and make it
difficult for the native to stick to long term enterprises or follow any kind of discipline.

On the higher mode, the sharpness and originality of Black Moon will reinforce the imagination and
creativity of Uranus.

On an even higher mode, the metaphysical depth of the Black Moon combines with Uranus in the chart of
great visionaries such as Sri Aurobindo (Mars, Uranus, Black Moon conjunct in the 12th), or Edgar Cayce
(opposition). Think also of the depth of vision of people such as John Kennedy (opposition), or Steven
Spielberg (opposition).

Uranus conjunct Pluto (orb: 9°38‘)

Keywords

Uranus and Pluto are very slow planets. Aspects between them last for years, and therefore are more
indicative of a generation than of individuals.

22
Chart Interpretation

Individual features are to be looked at more from other aspects to Uranus or Pluto, rather than from the
Uranus-Pluto aspect itself.

Pluto conjunct Black Moon (orb: 4°44’)

Keywords

An aspect which can strongly reinforce the occult nature of Pluto, giving tremendous insight into the hidden
mysteries of life and sharp astral energy in plenty.

On the lower mode: rich, complex and tenacious sexual fantasies or on the contrary, fear of sexuality.

On the higher mode, the need for purity, perfection and absolute can be extreme.

There is also an immense potential of energy available to realise one's goals, but one needs to be able to go
deep inside oneself to contact it and tap from it.

In the conjunction and the opposition, the meeting of Hades and Lilith can make great esotericists,
magicians-but also necromancers. Think of people such as Yogananda (Black Moon-Pluto opposition),
Gurdjieff (trine), Ramdass (trine), Samuel Sagan (opposition), Rajnesh (square in the birth chart, opposed
in the chart of death). But think also of Adolf Hitler (very significant conjunction in the 8th house), or
Aleister Crowley (opposition). And, last but not least-Shirley MacLaine (in the midheaven).

Neptune sextile Pluto (orb: 2°26‘)

Keywords

An aspect of a generation rather than indicative of individual features.

Neptune and Pluto are very slow planets. Aspects between them therefore last for years, and are therefore
not specific (that is, not meaningful on an individual level), unless aspected to other planets or to the angles.

Due to the slowing down of Neptune and the speeding up of Pluto in its eccentric orbit, the two planets
remained sextile for about 30 years, from the 1960s to 1993. With its power of deconstruction over social
structures and of awakening latent human potential, it came to prepare the great Uranus-Neptune
conjunction of 1993-1994.

Glossary of Astrological Terms
Angles: in an astrological chart, the four angles are the Ascendant, the Descendant, the Midheaven and the
Imum Coeli. Planets close to an angle exert a powerful influence in the chart.

Ascendant: the part of the horizon where planets rise. In astrological charts, planets close to the ascendant
are considered especially powerful. The Ascendant is the beginning of the first house.

Aspect: the angular relationship between planets. For instance, a sextile takes place when two planets are
separated by 60 degrees or so. Aspects associate the values of the two planets.

Black Moon: the second focus of the Moon's orbit around the Earth. A highly metaphysical point in an
astrological chart.

Cluster: more than two planets in a conjunction. It indicates an intense concentration of psychological
forces.

Conjunction: one of the major aspects, formed when two planets are close to each other (usually, less than
10 degrees). The energies of those planets combine and intensify.

Descendant: one of the four angles. That part of the horizon where the Sun and other planets set. In the
chart, the In the chart, the descendant is the beginning of the 7th house.

Grand cross: two oppositions linked by four squares.

Grand trine: An equilateral triangle, formed by three planets connected by 120-degree angles. In general,
this configuration favours a flow between these planetary forces.

Heptagram: a mandala-like drawing of the 7 major planets. The heptagram points towards a ‘pole’ planet,
which is strong in the chart.

Houses: an astrological chart is divided into 12 sectors, starting with the ascendant. Each sector is assigned
to one area of life; for instance the 8th house relates to sexuality, the 10th to career, and so on.
Note: if the time of birth is not known, one cannot calculate the angles and the houses.

Imum Coeli, or IC: one of the four angles. The lowest/deepest point in the vertical axis of a chart. At
midnight, local time, the Sun is on the Imum Coeli, or IC. In the chart, the IC is the beginning of the 4th
house.

Kite: a grand trine with a fourth planet opposite one corner of the triangle. Gives stability and intensity to
the flow of those planetary forces.

Major aspects: conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition.

Midheaven, or MC: one of the four angles. That part of the vertical axis where the Sun reaches its highest
point. At midday, local time, the Sun is on the Midheaven, or MC. The MC is the beginning of the 10th
house.

Opposition: the aspect formed when two planets are 180 degrees away. The energies of those planets
combine with a challenging effect.

Nodes (North Node and South Node): the nodes are the two points of intersection of the orbits of the
Moon and the Earth. The South Node, stands for qualities developed in past lives; the North Node for future
destiny.

24
Glossary of Astrological Terms

Orb: a perfect opposition takes place when two planets are 180 degrees apart. If they are 178 degrees apart,
the orb of the opposition is 2 degrees. Same with the other aspects. The smaller the orb, the more powerful
the aspect.

Sextile: one of the major aspects, with the two planets 60 degrees apart.

Square: one of the major aspects, with the two planets 90 degrees apart.

Trine: one of the major aspects, with the two planets 120 degrees away.
