I. Origin Country and Major Branches in Different Continent

As of November 2016, Jollibee operates at 1,111 Jollibee stores, 954 of which are in the
Philippines, its country of origin, and 157 are situated in foreign markets.

Philippines

The first ever Jollibee branch was in Cubao, Quezon City which opened in 1975 as a Magnolia Ice
cream parlor. When Jollibee was incorporated in 1978, there were 7 branches in Metro Manila. The first
franchised outlet of Jollibee opened in Santa Cruz, Manila in 1979.

There were 954 Jollibee branded restaurant locations in the Philippines officially recorded to be
operating during November 2016. The 1,000th Jollibee store in the country at the Bonifacio Global
City was opened in 2017. By the end of 2017, Jollibee has 1,062 stores in the Philippines.

Italy

The first Jollibee outlet in Italy and in whole of Europe opened at the Piazza Diaz
7 in Milan, Italy on 18 March 2018. Jollibee Foods Corporation's entrance in the European market was a
result of a joint venture with Singapore Blackbird Holdings. JFC announced the joint venture in April
2017. Plans to open a Jollibee branch in Italy already existed as early as August 2015 when Jollibee
officials met with Milan's Chamber of Commerce to discuss possibilities on opening a branch in the
northern Italian city.

United States

In the United States, Jollibee has locations in California, Hawaii, Florida, Nevada, New
Jersey, New York, Texas, Illinois, Washington, Virginia, Guam.

The first location in the United States was opened in Daly City, California in June 1998. Not all
locations in California were successful and several had closed after operating briefly. In October 2018,
the company opened its second location in New York State on the island of Manhattan in NYC. The first
location in the Washington was opened in Tukwila in September 2010. The first location in New Jersey
was opened in Jersey City in June 2012. The following year, the first location in the state of Virginia was
opened in Virginia Beach in April 2013. The first location in the state of Texas was opened in Houston in
September 2013. The first location in the state of Illinois was opened in Skokie in July 2016. Jollibee
plans to open their first Arizona location in Chandler in early 2020. Jollibee is expected to have 150 stores
across the United States in 2023.

IV. Contribution to Environmental Degradation

Regarding environmental concerns, the Jollibee Food Corporation always make sure that every
act they commit abides in the environmental laws and ethics. As a matter of fact, the practice of going
green has been seamlessly integrated in the business processes of JFC. Jollibee is one of the few
companies which has a unit dedicated to the environment. In addition to that it is also stated in their
vision mission statement that one of their goals is to having an environment-friendly initiative. (Jollibee
Food Corporation, n.d.)

The actions of JFC regarding their agenda of supporting their environmental advocacies goes way
back 2011 when the JFC decided to join the steering body for Climate Change Summit. This summit that
the JFC had supported aims to get more companies to commit to targets and reduce emissions in specific
areas like transport, energy, agriculture and reforestation, solid waste and sustainable cities. (Philippine
Star, 2011)

In 2016, the JFC launched the Go Green Project to support their concern about the environment.
This project aims to encourage residents of different barangays to promote vertical vegetable gardening
and to make a more sustainable initiative towards enhancing good practices regarding it. (Lara, 2016)
And just recently during October 2019, Jollibee decided to go green regarding the vehicle that they use
for delivery. In some chosen branches in Manila, Jollibee rolls out E-Bike delivery which is a vehicle that
does not use gasoline and fuel to run but only electricity. (Business Mirror, 2019)

But alongside their actions towards an environment friendly environment, there are still some
minor environmental issues that the JFC had faced in some of the branches of fast food chains under it.
Last March 2019, The MIMAROPA office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources
(DENR) has sealed the water facilities of two fast food restaurants (Jollibee and Chowking) in Calapan
City, Oriental Mindoro province, for releasing wastewater into the Calapanriver without the necessary
discharge permits from the agency. Due to this occurrence, those 2 fast food chains had been closed down
and had to pay fines ranging from P10,000 to P200,000 per day of violation.

But with regards to JFC as a whole, their active involvement and support in this endeavor is a
concrete way to show that the Jollibee Group of Companies is unwavering in its commitment to corporate
social responsibility–apart from always offering the best to its customers–and this means playing a major
role in protecting our environment and conserving our natural resources. (Philippine Star, 2011)

V. Implemented Sustainable Development Practices / Policies

Recently, Jollibee Food Corporation signed with ECOS Environmental Foundation, Inc. as their
partner in revolutionizing environmentally conscious transportation for delivery. They will utilize E-bike
for their delivery fleet to reduce carbon footprint and the overall environmental impact of their operations.
The E-bike delivery will be initially rolled-out in three branches: Jollibee Emerald Avenue (Ortigas
Center, Pasig), Jollibee BGC Triangle (BGC, Taguig), and Jollibee Molino (Cavite). The Jollibee also
partnered with the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) to train their selected
personnel on solid waste and water management and thus, they will become environmental multipliers.
The goal is to train the staffs so they can, in turn, train their colleagues and communities on this matter to
help boost the government's campaign for environmental protection and resource conservation. Apart
from these big steps in sustainable development, JFC also uses recycled tissues and plastics and
encourage their customers to avoid using plastic straws in all their branches to dwindle their effect on the
environment.
