TITLE : METHOD STATEMENT FOR DUCTWORK COATING/PAINTING

1. Purpose
To define & describe the method of ductwork coating/painting

2. Document/Drawing/Standards Reference
a. General summary for duct coating/pinting works.
b. Coating/painting process.
c. SEM Drawings.
d. Method Statment fo coating/painting work.

3. Equipment/Tools/Materials Requirements
a. Refer to Equipment/Tools/Materials Requirements list.
b. Ductwork coating/painting process required a special tools to support processing so the result of
coating/painting can be efficience. Here’s an example of special tools for coating/painting process.

3. Air compressor 1. Coating/painting spray 2. Coating/painting brush roller

4. Pre-preparation Work
a. Check coating/painting standard color for duct work.
b. Equipment/tools and coating/painting materials for duct painting process should be prepared in the factory
before the fabrication of duct done.
c. While at site all equipment & coat/paint materials should be prepared duct installation done.
d. Also for final coating/painting duct work process materials & equipment prepared after installation for all
system finish of before final inspection.

5. Safety Precautions
a. Barricade all work areas relating to the works if required.
b. Wear Proper Protection Equipment (PPE) for personal safety.

TITLE : METHOD STATEMENT FOR DUCTWORK COATING/PAINTING

7. Work Procedure
a. Preparing/estimating all materials requirement for ductwork coating/painting at workshop.
b. Preparing all equipment/tools also manpower for ductwork coating/painting workshop.
c. First step of ductwork coating/painting shall be processed after duct fabrication finished at workshop
according to mentioned in the Method Statement for Ductwork Coating/painting.
d. In the first step ductwork coating/painting use primary coat and shall be do workshop by coating/painting
spray completely with air compressor.
e. Check the quality & neatness coating/paint of all duct that passes first step ductwork coating/painting
process. Duct must be properly checked, to ensure the coating/painting fulfill smoothly in all side of duct.
f. Duct delivered to site in accordance with the approved shop drawings and in conformance with the approved
standard quality of ductwork coating/painting.
g. Preparing/estimating all materials requirement for ductwork coating/painting at site.
h. Preparing all equipment/tools also manpower for ductwork coating/painting site.
i. Second step of ductwork coating/painting shall be processed after duct installation finished at site and
implemented only on top side of ducting.
j. In the second step of ductwork coating/painting use finishing paint materials and shall be do at site. The
processes of coating/painting should be do by brush roller so it can’t be sully to another object/materials.
k. Check the quality & neatness coating/paint of all duct that passes second step ductwork coating/painting
process. Duct must be properly checked, to ensure the coating/painting fulfill smoothly on top side of duct.
l. Final step of ductwork coating/painting should be processed before final fix/inspection or near to hand over.
m. In the final step of ductwork coating/painting processed with finishing paint materials and implemented on
right, left and bottom side of duct.
n. The result of final step shall be check carefully the quality & neatness coating/paint of all duct. Duct must be
properly checked, to ensure the coating/painting fulfill smoothly on right, left, and bottom side of duct.

9. Ductwork coating/painting process description & explanation

Base on project requirement there’s criteria/important point should be followed for ductwork coating/painting
process.
a. Ductwork coating/painting not applied on insulated duct.
b. The implementation of coating/painting only on external side of duct.
c. Ductwork coating/painting is not necessary for internal side of duct.

9.1. First step of ductwork coating/painting

In the first step, duct should be coating with primary coat by coating/painting spray. Ductwork coating/painting
process should be do at Workshop after duct fabrication finished to prevent duct from corrotion. Ductwork
coating/painting at this step implemented at all side of duct.

9.2. Second step of ductwork coating/painting

In the second step, duct should be coating with finishing paint and applied by coating/painting brush roller.
Ductwork coating/painting process should be do at site before duct installation. Ductwork coating/painting in this
step implemented only on top side of duct.

9.3. Final step of ductwork coating/painting

In the final step, duct should be coating with finishing paint and applied by coating/painting brush roller.
Ductwork coating/painting process should be do at site after all of duct installation finished or before final
inspection. Ductwork coating/painting in this step implemented only on right, left and bottom side of duct.
