None can deny the importance of a good vocabulary. It not only helps you climb ladders
professionally but also personally *wink wink*

Reading a lot of books is a sureshot way to expose yourself to new words and having them
imprinted on your mind and become a part of your vocabulary.

So the next time you come across a book, don't lose out on a sexy new addition to your
vocabulary.

3. Productivity

Reading is one of the best sports you can fill your time with. It not only guarantees that you'll
enjoy your time, but also that post it you're left with an experience that has led to your overall
personal growth.

4. Concentration power

With our generation’s romance with 140 characters and microblogging we have brought upon us
an epidemic of attention deficit. Nobody has the patience to read these days. Posts are
measured by word per blink. In such conditions it hampers our professional lives as well.
Reading on the other hand keeps you captivated with a book for a long time; improving your
focus and concentration skills - something that can greatly benefit your grades or study
sessions.

5. Writing skills

Every budding writer will tell you that they have carried a streak of their favourite author within
them. Reading does that to you - unconsciously you begin to emulate the writing the skills, you
learn the paraphrasing and overall turn into a better writer.
So if you are turning in your essays and assignments, prepare to wow them from the improved
writing skills you acquired from a bout of reading in the summer.

6. Solitude

Spending time with yourself is healthy when done in the right measures. Silence has a way of
recharging you and making you reflect on your life. The best companion in your silence can be a
book, which does a good job of calming you down; such as spiritual or self help books.

Also, people know better than to disturb a man with a book ;)

7. Analytical and decision making skills

Books help us live lives of others. They put us in situations our protagonists are facing and
inadvertently make us examine our choice if we were facing the same situation. Detective

Books are the cheapest form of entertainment that doesn't need a designated spot or a
electricity connection or a network. Just you, your couch and the comfort of book which you can

9. Stress buster

Books act as an effective stress buster. Once you open and immerse yourself in the pages of a
book you can find yourself drifting away to newer realms and forgetting your present. When you
return, even if it's not with a solution, you are geared up to face your life, all recharged.

10. Knowledge

Last but not the least, books are the epitome of knowledge. A man is made up of the books he
reads and rightly so - every book takes you on a whirlwind tour of places, plots and history. You
learn about history from Robert Langdon, career building from self help books and chemistry
from. . . Oh well.
