The Problem and Its Background

Introduction

Computerization is a control system that manages processes in industrial

workplace. It reduced human errors and processing time, thus it can boost productivity

and resulted into high quality of product produce. In Information System, computerization

is concerned about interrelating different but interdependent transactions. This can result

in a system with will-integrated processes that can perform much faster and more

accurate than a manual system. Enrollment is the process of entering and verifying the

data of a student in a school. And the number of person enrolled in a course or section in

a school. As our technology is advancing, many schools are using Computer Enrollment

System to provide fast enrollment process, to have secured record and easier way to

identify the record of a particular student. It is very important for a school to use

Computerize Enrollment System especially for school that has large student population to

minimize the time of enrolling and have secured data/records and to prevent missing

data/records.

As international education systems vary in terms of structure and curricular

content, it can be difficult to benchmark performance across countries over time or

monitor progress towards national and international goals. In order to understand and

properly interpret the inputs, processes and outcomes of education systems from a global

perspective, it is vital to ensure that data are comparable. The standard framework used

to categories and report cross-nationally comparable education statistics.

Today many educational institutions exist in the Philippines and some of them have

large student population. As of 2016 according to research there are almost 102,250,133

students all over Philippines in private and public schools and it increase by 1.54% yearly.

 Imagine if a school with over thousand students and they are using manual

method in enrolling and bookkeeping their record, it will consume a large amount of time

in enrolling and storing the record would take a lot of space in a room and some will be

lost. The solution for this problem is to develop an application or system that will enroll

the enrollees faster than the manual method and will store the data/records in a database.

The purpose of the study is to design the Enrollment system for the Anastacio G.

Yumul High School that will store student information and other data that is needed for

enrolling. With the help of the system time consumption in enrolling will be reduced and

using room for storing data/records won’t be needed because all of it will be stored in the

database. This Computer-Based enrollment system provides the Anastacio G. Yumul High

School for a faster, more convenient way of storing files of the student enrollees in a

computer system that lessens the effort of staff every semester. This also serves as

information database especially for freshman; irregular transferee’s student and the

administrator are able to get an access in their course, subjects, and student enrollees.

This information can be viewed in just seconds without, worries that single files could get

lost. As the enrollees increase every year, enrollment procedure becomes harder to deal,

this also a big help to all enrollment staff, especially under the computer department

because they are the one who are entitled to head and update the information in the

database. Having this system helps the school in upgrading the enrollment process so as

they meeting the qualities that we are trying to achieve.

Background of the Study

In this generation, most schools offer courses have Computer-Based Enrollment

System. They are using this system to make the process of enrollment easier. The

enhancement of Computerized Enrollment System pushes this system into a new level.

Instead of enrolling manually, they will have option to finish their form using

Computer-Based Enrollment System.

The Anastacio G. Yumul High School formerly Balutu National High School a DepED

managed partially urban public school, located in Balutu Rd, Concepcion, Tarlac establish

in 1968. Today Anastacio G. Yumul HS has a population over or less 1000 students

enrolled and teaches seventh through tenth grade and the class size is 50 to 55 per room,

have 15 instructional class rooms and 3 non-instructional classrooms.

Information Technology Innovation

In this study, two vital components will be required in designing the system. These

are the hardware and software. To further illustrate the technologies, the propose system

design will be using the following.

Enrollment System will be installed. The proponents prefer this kind of specification for

the system to have better processing speed.

Operating System Windows 10 Professional

Programming Language Microsoft Visual Studio 2015

Table 2.0 shows the operating system and the list of software applications that

will be used in developing the system. The Windows 10 Professional will be its main

operating system, Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 as its main programming language where

the system will be coded.

Rationale

The proponents choose the study to help the Anastacio G. Yumul High School for

their enrollment process. The study will benefit the school, staff and importantly the

Transferee/Students for faster enrolling process and more secured student records for the

school. And by doing this we believe that this will be very helpful for the school and also

to uphold self-awareness in the advancing in the age of technology.

Statement of the Objectives

The study aims to develop a Computer-Based Enrollment System to improve the

enrollment process and data storing of the Anastacio G. Yumul High School.

General Objective. The proponents aim is to develop the Computer-Based

Enrollment System for the students and employees of the Anastacio G. Yumul High School.

Specific Objectives. In order to achieve the general objective, this study would

seek the following specific objectives:

1. To design and develop a Computer-Based Enrollment System for Anastacio G.

Yumul High School.

Scope and Delimitation

The study aims to develop the enrollment system to manage the accounts of old,

new and transferees to easily search for student information when needed. The account

will be organized and only authorized personnel will be allowed to use the system. The

scope of this system includes the following processes:

 The system is protected by Admin account (Guidance) and User account

(Faculty).

 The members of the faculty can upload computed grades in the Grading

form in the System.

 The Guidance can add, edit and update information in the Student

database.

 In searching student record a filter is enable to filter their (Student ID or

Last Name or First Name or Status or Age and can be sorted by Grade Level

and Section and School Year) for the fast viewing of their records.

 The system can print the Student Records.

The developed system is limited to the following:

 Only authorized personnel can use the system.

 Any transaction regarding any type of payments.

- (School Tickets, School Field Trip, School Projects, etc.)

 Significance of the Study

The essential purpose of the Computer-Based Enrollment System will benefit the

following:

For the Students. By using the Computer-Based Enrollment System it will

help lessen the time needed for enrolment process.

For the Guidance. It is easier for the Guidance to edit, save and to check or

to retrieve student information needed.

For the Anastacio G. Yumul High School. The school will have a secured

records/data for every student.

For the researchers. The study will help the proponents to broaden their

knowledge in the course of Information Technology and

For the future researcher. The develop study can be used as a reference

for the future who will conducting, developing, improving and enhancing a system related

to this.

Definition of Terms

Enrollment Process. Step by step process in enrolling in a school.

Accuracy. This is to determine how the system accurate the system represents

information to the user.

Usability. The Computer-Based Enrollment System will be very convenient for the

registration of students.

Security. The Computer-Based Enrollment System is protected with Admin and

Accountant accounts.

Registration. The process of entering information of the student in the Computer-

Based Enrollment System.

 Report. Printed student information generates by the Computer-Based Enrollment

System.

Computer-Based. Use for storing, retrieving, and clever of processing

information for effective execution of commands.

Admin Account. Special accounts that are used for making changes to system

settings or managing other people's accounts.

User Account. The basic account in a system.
