General Questionnaire

1) What is an Inspection & Test Plan? What is a YERPITP?


 It is a mandatory item in the Quality Plan to guide and assure
quality in a specific type of work in a specific sequence of QC
activity steps. A YERTIP is a YER Inspection & Test Plan indexed
by YERP/ARAMCO standards.

2) What is a Quality Control procedure?


 A document that details the specific steps needed to fulfil the QC
activity in the ITP.

3) What is a Quality Control Form?


 A written documentation detailing a specific activity in the ITP &
QC Procedure.

4) What references will be found in ITPs?


 YERP/ARAMCO STDs, Procedures and code references,
specifications

5) What are specifications?


 Specifications (Specs) are guideline details for construction
requirements to assure minimum quality standards are listed and
met.

6) What 4 types of Inspection Action points are found in the ITP &
Explain?
 Hold, Witness, Surveillance, Review
Hold- QA/QC organization shall be notified of the timing of
inspection or test in advance. Inspection or test shall not be
carried out without the QA/QC organization representative in
attendance.
Witness- QA/QC organization shall be notified of the timing of
Inspection or test in advance. However, the inspection or test
shall be performed as scheduled if the QA/QC organization
representative is not present.
Surveillance- QA/QC organization to monitor work in progress
without notice from Construction Organization.
Review- Review and approval of documents.

7) What is a P&ID?
 Piping & instrument Diagram shows piping layouts and detailed
notes relating to piping and instrumentation.

8) What is material receiving inspection?


 Match physical condition in field to service condition shown on
Drawings/Hardware lists
 Specification and marking/color-coding & PMI
 Identification of grade by ASTM spec listed on dwg/bolting list will
give clear reqmts.
 Identification of fittings and flanges by correct ratings, sizes, class,
schedules as marked on fittings & mill certificates.
 For the correct Scheduling of Pipe, by a Vernier Caliper and
ensure piping is within tolerances.

9) What is NCR, CAR, DR?


 NCR: (Non Conformity report): A record reporting the variation from the
specified requirements.
 CAR: Corrective action report: A record reporting the action taken
to eliminate the effect and causes of an existing non –conformity,
defect or other undesirable situation in order to prevent
recurrence.
 DR: Deviation report: A record of the concessions granted by
client or owner to certain deviation from project specification.
10) What is an SIS?
 Safety Instruction Sheet that gives full design details related to a
piping system or line.

11) What are the general requirements of an ITP?


i. Process description
ii. Quality control requirements
iii. Notification requirements for Requests For Inspections (RFI)
(minimum 24 hours for site work, 48 hours for weekend
inspections, except when YERP personnel will require special
qualifications.)
iv. Responsibilities

15) Describe the difference between QA & QC?

 Quality Control is the operational techniques (Inspection,


Examination & Testing) that are used to fulfil requirements for
quality. Quality Assurance is the system of action and planning
needed to provide confidence that a Product or Service will satisfy
quality requirements

16) What is Schedule ‘Q’?


 Schedule Q stands for Owner’s minimum quality requirements for
Contractor/Subcontractor quality system.

17) What is an isometric drawing?


 A detailed piping system/line drawing with reference to construction
and material requirements.
18) What things are found in a Piping Isometric drawing?
 Line conditions, references to drawings, materials of
construction(Bill Of Materials), continuations, orientation, piping
and drawing details and notes, revision control and approval status.

19) What is a PIP?


 Process Industry Practice details requirements for fabrication as
Industry Practice.

1) Define Hydrostatic Test, Pneumatic Test, Pressure Test, Service Test

Hydrostatic test-A pressure test conducted using water or other


approved liquid as the test medium.
Pneumatic Test- A pressure test conducted using air or other
approved gas as the test medium or in conjunction with liquid.
Pressure Test- A test conducted to piping or equipment by subjecting
it to an internal pressure using liquid or gas to ensure strength or
tightness of the system at the test pressure.
Service Test- A leak test conducted at operating pressure using the
service fluid.
