INTRODUCTION:
Started in 2001, Sara Suole Pvt. Ltd. has grown from just 25 people in one location to
become a USD 75 million company. Its footprint stretches across the world - from Europe to
Africa, the US to Australia. And footprint is appropriate, because Sara Suole Pvt. Ltd. is
India’s largest Builtup Sole manufacturer and one of its leading manufacturers of shoes and
leather.
Right from inception, Sara Suole has concentrated on ensuring the highest standards of
manufacture. Which is why every step of the process is overseen strictly, using end-to-end
integration of production: from raw leather to finished footwear, from design to retailing.

With its own design center in Italy, Sara Suole has several units employing hundreds of
skilled craftspeople and equipped with world-class machinery for manufacture and testing.
Craftsmanship is key in footwear and our workers have earned an enviable reputation for
ensuring a finish which compares to the best in the world.

The finest craftsmen need the finest materials and tools. That's why Sara Suole imports raw
leather strictly from LGW compliant tanneries in the USA, the Amazon Basin and Europe
and finishes 12 million sq. ft. in its LWG Gold rated plant. 360,000 kg of vegetable tanning is
carried out for soles. Besides its own premium calf, kip and cow leather, Sara Suole also
imports premium finished leather from Italy & Argentina.

Its current manufacturing capacity - which is being enhanced – is over 18,000 pairs of soles
and 10,500 pairs of shoes a day. Of particular note is the Central Sourcing Department, which
coordinates with nearly 50 customers worldwide. The in-house design, sourcing and
manufacturing abilities are supplemented by associations with leading specialist
manufacturers. Among a number of other awards and accolades, Sara Suole Pvt. Ltd. is
certified as a 3-star exporter by the Government of India.
A state-of-the-art Testing Laboratory complements the excellence of manufacturing and
craftsmanship. Armed with the latest equipment and highly qualified technicians, it can test
tensile & tear strength; do endurance, performance, ageing and bonding testing and much
more for all of Sara Suole units.

The preferred partner for a number of the world's largest shoe brands – Clarks, Bugatti Shoes,
Nordstrom, Florsheim, Aldo, Gabor, Dine, Lucky, Next – Sara Suole is looking to partner
others with an eye for quality and cost-effectiveness. The product line includes mens shoes,
womens shoes, sandals, thongs, accessories like laptop bags, wallets, belts, duffel bags.

Sara Suole takes a great deal of effort to ensure it is a socially responsible organization that
ensures worker happiness and environmental sustainability. Not only do all stakeholders
benefit from these policies, workers get special attention - through up skilling, community
interventions and innovation. In addition, given the heavy use of water in leather
manufacture, Sara Suole is already well on the way to being a water-positive organization.

Sara Suole Pvt. Ltd. is part of the Dhanani Group of Industries which has a turnover touching
USD 500 million. The Group is one of India’s most dynamic. Based in Bangalore, the

FINANCIAL DEPARTMENT:

Financial activities are activities that companies undertake to help achieve their economic
goals and objectives. They include events and transactions that affect a business’ equity and
long-term liabilities. Anything to do with the movement of money, i.e., cash inflows and
outflows, is a financial activity.Purchasing and selling assets or products, organizing
accounts, and maintaining accounts, for example, are financial activities. Arranging loans,
selling bonds or stocks are also financial activities.

“The buying and selling of assets and products, maintaining accounts, organizing accounts,
and issuing bonds or stocks. They also include arranging loans and other monetary business
activities.”In accounting, we display financial activities on the statement of cash flows.
Specifically, they are the third set of cash activities.

CASHFLOW ANALYSIS:

The term includes the flow of cash into and out of the company,
i.e., cash inflows and outflows. This money is from investors and creditors.

New loans that the company issues, for example, are inflows from creditor.Loan and interest
payments, on the other hand, at cash outflows.

In other words, whenever money is flowing in or out of a company, there is a financial

activity.“Cash inflows from investors occur from newly issued stock or contributions from
partners; whereas, cash outflows from investors consist of dividends and owner distribution.

Some financial activities, however, have no effect on a company’s cash. If a company

finances a project directly, for example, cash remains unaffected.A company’s cash account
never alters if it uses a mortgage for a new building.
FINANCIAL ACTIVITIES OF SARA SUOLE COMPANY:

 Issuance of bonds and other debts (cash inflow).

 Sale of shares (cash inflow).
 Repurchasing of company shares (cash outflow).
 Dividend payments (cash outflow).
 Debt repayments (cash outflow).

FUNCTIONS OF FUNCTION DEPARTMENT :

Bookkeeping and Payables/Receivables:

Bookkeeping is the most basic financial activity in a company. Before a business owner ever
considers hiring a CFO, they bring in a bookkeeper, who tracks all of the transactions in the
organization, covering both sales and expenses. As the organization grows, they might hire
more specialized payables and receivables clerks, to take over functions such as
corresponding with vendors and suppliers, above and beyond recording transactions.

Financial Reporting and Control:

Financial Reporting and Control is the function that takes raw accounting entries and
transforms them into usable and comparable financial statements. Requiring far more
judgment than the bookkeeper’s role, this function involves everything from ruling on how to
implement accounting principles to designing financial processes of the organization,
selecting accounting systems, liaising with external auditors, and ensuring that there are no
gaps or oversights in existing processes.
Tax and Compliance:

Running a business involves paying tax, and paying tax means doing a lot of calculations and
filling out a lot of forms. Often using the financial statements as a basis, along with various
other configurations of the information produced by Bookkeeping and Payables/Receivables,
the Tax and Compliance function will make sure all of the government forms and filings are
sent complete and on-time to the taxman. A strong Tax and Compliance function will go one
step beyond simple compliance, and will find ways to minimize tax, so as to maximize the
company’s net income.

Strategic Planning and Financial Planning & Analysis

This function, “FP&A” for short, is the true bridge between the Past and the Future. FP&A
regularly creates strategic and financial plans that forecast what financial results (sales and
expenses) will look like in future periods. Then, they compare actual results—prepared with
the assistance of the Financial Reporting and Control function—to determine areas where the
business can improve. With this “variance analysis” complete, they can then prepare more
accurate forecasts for the future. A strong FP&A function will not only generate annual
forecasts but will be able to update them even over the course of a day or two, and to run
many scenarios that examine the effects of, say, losing a big customer or an economic
contraction.

Treasury & Working Capital Management

The key role of Treasury is to make sure that the company doesn’t run out of cash. This
means, among other things, forecasting the upcoming working capital (receivables, payables
and inventory) needs of the company, investing surplus cash in short-term instruments to
generate modest interest income, and managing currency risk.
Capital Budgeting

Capital Budgeting is the function responsible for selecting between the various uses of
capital, or capital projects. After all, most organizations will have money available to invest
in the business, with the hopes of either growing sales or reducing expenses. But the
opportunities for spending typically exceed the amount available to spend, so Capital
Budgeting develops business cases to evaluate and identify the most effective projects. A
strong Capital Budgeting function will not only forecast project benefits, but will also track
these benefits over time to determine whether the use of capital was as effective as originally
anticipated.

Risk Management

Risk Management is a function that is rapidly developing after the financial scandals of the
early 2000s (Enron, WorldCom, the Great Recession and Lehman/Bear Stearns collapse,
etc.). In the financial services industry, the function is particularly central as most institutions
run with a high amount of debt (leverage), though leaders in other industries are also bulking
up this function. Risk Management takes a hard look at some of the key risks faced by the
company—currency, interest rate, market, operational, legal, etc.—and tries to quantify the
possible impacts so that they can be mitigated as much as possible. If FP&A looks at the base
case scenario for the company’s financial results, Risk Management takes a wrecking ball to
it.
