LEARNING PLAN
Mathematics – 8

Date: September 18-19, 2019

Content Standard: The learner demonstrates key concepts of linear inequalities in two variables,
systems of linear inequalities in two variables and linear functions. The learner demonstrates
understanding of key concepts of logic and reasoning.

Performance Standard: The learner is able to formulate and solve accurately real-life problems
involving linear inequalities in two variables, systems of linear inequalities in two variables, and
linear functions. The learner is able to communicate mathematical thinking with coherence and
clarity in formulating and analyzing arguments.

Learning Competencies:

a. Identifying the parts of a rectangular coordinate system

b. Plotting points on the rectangular coordinate plane

Learning Content: THE CARTESIAN COORDINATE SYSTEM

Learning Resources: Phoenix Math for the 21st Century Learners 7, pp. 164-170
Core Values Integration: respect, creativity

Introduction
A. Motivation Technique
Shows Picture of a number line which is divided into 2 integers the positive and
negative integers.

Guide Question:
1. Are you familiar with the number line integers?
2. What do you call the integer that the numbers are to the right of zero?
3. What do you call the integer that the numbers are to the left of zero?

B. Transitions/Linking Statements
Discuss on how to plot points on the rectangular coordinate plane.

Guide Question:
1. Where you able to plot the points correctly?
2. What Quadrant does (+,-) belong?

Interaction
A. Learning Activities (ie. Cooperative Strategy & Active Learning)
With a group of 5, do the following task.
Direction: Using a graphing paper, plot the following points and color the shape that is
formed.
1. A (-3,7) 2. D (4,-5)
B (3,7) E (-6, 7)
C (0,-8) F (-2, 4)
G (4,6)
B. Assessment Techniques (Formative and Summative)
(Short Quiz)

Direction: Plot the given points in a graphing paper

M (6,3) W (-1,0.5)
P (-3,-6) V ( 3.5,7.5)
U (0, -1 ½ ) X (7,0)
S (-6,-5) Y (-8,-4)
T (10, -4) Z (11, -5.5)

C. Processing Questions
1. Is the activity difficult for you?
2. Where you able to plot the points correctly?

Integration
A. Transfer of Learning
Make your own example and find your partner to discuss your example.

B. Reflection Questions (PVMGO)

What attributes of the graduates will you relate our topic and why?

C. Closure & Synthesis
