第一章Purpose
This instruction is used for guiding service staff to upgrade firmware of handset with Micro SD
card.

第二章Scope of application
This instruction is apply to Y520U handset, and used for the service staff and related persons to
upgrade handset software version.

第四章Operation Steps

4.1 Run “Flash tool”

This flash tool don’t need to be installed, double click “Flash_tool.exe” to run it(Notice: an
error prompt message will pop-up at the first time run it, it’s caused by wrong file directory
setting, click “OK” to ignore it), the tool interface is as below picture.

4.2 Configure Flash tool

1.Click “Scatter-loading” icon, select the “…scatter.txt” file from the firmware directory. Please
refer to below picture.

Click” Download Agent” icon to select “MTK_AllInOne_DA.bin” file from flash tool directory.

2. All firmware files and DA files loaded are as below picture.

3. Select upgrade mode：

“Download”: for the case that handset is unable to be powered on. The RF and ADC parameter
of handset should be re-calibrated after firmware upgraded.
“Firmware﹥Upgrade”: for the case that handset is able to be powered on properly and
calibration parameter is normally. Normally please choose this mode to upgrade firmware!!!
“Format”: for the case that handset is unable to be powered on after firmware upgraded. Select
this mode to format handset firstly, then flash firmware with above upgrade mode.

4.3 Firmware upgrade via USB

 “Firmware->Upgrade” mode upgrade firmware

1. Start “Firmware﹥Upgrade” upgrade.
Normally please choose “Firmware->Upgrade” mode to flash firmware.

Click “Firmware->Upgrade”, Switch off handset, keep pressing volume “up” key and
connect handset to PC with USB cable, the software upgrade procedure will start
automatically. The whole process is back up calibration parameter format and upgrade
restore calibration parameter, the below picture is for your reference:

2. Firmware upgrade finish

The below prompt page will pop-up when software upgrade procedure completed.

1. Select “Download” mode to upgrade firmware.

Please choose “Download” mode to upgrade firmware in the event the handset is unable to be
powered on.
Click “Download” icon, power off handset, keep pressing volume up key and connect
handset to PC with USB cable, the firmware upgrade procedure will start automatically.
2. Firmware upgrade finish
The below prompt page will pop-up when software upgrade procedure completed.

“Format” mode

1. Start Format mode.

In the event that handset is unable to be powered on or on some special situation, you can
choose “Format” to format handset, then please repeat the Download operation after format
procedure.
Click “Format” icon, set the configuration as below picture, then click”OK”:

Power off handset, keep pressing volume up key and connect handset to PC with USB cable,
the format procedure will start automatically. In case some prompt page pop-up during
format process, just need to click “OK”.

2. Format procedure finish

The below prompt page will pop-up when format procedure completed
