In primary school, we were taught:

“Trees comprise the fundamental unit of life. They contribute to the
environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, climate
amelioration, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting
wildlife. During the process of photosynthesis, trees take in carbon
dioxide and produce the oxygen we breathe. ”

At the same time...

“We were asked to write beautiful things about environment on our
notebook with the help of a pencil. Both, the notebooks and the
pencils were made after cutting trees.
Ironically, since the start of our learning, there was a gap between
what we were being taught and what we were actually following.”

Every Year,
“8 million trees are cut in India just to manufacture pencils, causing
huge amount of deforestation and a lot of environmental damages.”

Towards a greener alternative...

“Growdiesel Ventures Limited, a biofuel company that generates
biofuel out of solid waste identified this. It couldn’t resist and started
looking for greener alternatives and hence, Stone. Paper.
Scissors.TM(SPS) was formed.”

The way forward...

SPS, an initiative by Growdiesel’s NGO (Growdiesel Climate Care
Council) started looking for greener alternatives. There were 2 major
reason why SPS wanted to specifically enter this field:
1. To shift towards sustainable alternative.
2. To spread awareness amongst the children about the growing
environmental crises.
SPS believes that if children are educated right from the start along
with actionable steps, the future will be much brighter as children are
the future of any nation.
This is a movement to create #ClimateSaviours

Introducing the Green Box...

We believe that every kind of teaching should involve fun. Most
importantly, when we are dealing with children. If one connects with
children on a deeper level, they will accept the message.
Through Green Box, we feel that we can connect with the children on
a much deeper level.

What exactly is Green Box by SPS?

Green Box is a story. Story of those millions of trees whose voices
were never heard while they were being chopped. Green Box is a
sustainable alternative. It is a life giving tool to millions of trees.
It will not just prevent millions of trees from getting cut but also
eliminate the excess of waste we humans have been generating. It
aligns with the core fundamental of Growdiesel that:
“Waste can be a resource”
It consists of pens and pencils made out of recycled paper or
newspaper. You read it right. Not just this, it also consists plant-able
pens and pencils.
Every classroom of 40 students, with each student using one
Green Box per month, can collectively save one tree.

SPS is not just about selling environmental friendly recycled

pencils but to create a community of #ClimateSaviours by
different ways and means. Through this initiative, we wish to
support all those small and medium handicraft vendors who are
making things out of recycled material.
We truly believe that consumers are the real kings and queens.
If each one of us can just change our buying habits and support
such initiatives, we can together bring BIG changes.
Our goal is to make a community of people who care. So,
