Materials: Visual text within in Manila paper, Reading and Writing Skills Textbook by

Recall student’s learnings from the previous lesson.
Motivation:
Let the learners examine the expressions “I wanna go with ya”. Ask them what does
it mean and what letters are deleted.
Presentation:
Give a brief overview of written text as connected discourse.

Lesson Proper:
Activity:

Pair Activity. Let the students engage in a dyadic exchange making use of words with
deleted letters like “gonna”. Let them present their conversations to the class afterwards.

1. In the movies that you have watched, did you notice some characters who
uttered similar discourse as explained in this lesson? What did you do to
understand the utterances?
2. How would the use of pronouns confuse the readers of the meaning text in the
sentence?
Explain the relation of connected discourse to writing and how the produced sound affects
the linguistic units such as phrases, words, phonemes, syllables and other essential
components in writing.
