ABSTRACT

A political party makes alliance, in the morning, with another political party even with the rival opponent if there
is interest. And that very political party denies alliance in the evening of that very day with that very political party if there
is no interest. As such, they say, in politics, there is no permanent friend or permanent foe, only permanent interest. Here,
lies the glorious uncertainty of interest.

KEYWORDS:-Interest, Curiosity, Concern, Desire

INTRODUCTION

Creative writing is based more on manifestation rather than on expression. It does not inform rather reveals, so
this style of writing bears no reference. The best creative writing is critical, and the best critical writing is creative. The
present article is the outcome of creative writing meant for lay readers. As such free style is the methodology adopted so
that pleasure of reading can be enjoyed by the readers in general. As you may know Francis Bacon (1561-1626), the
immortal essayist, wrote many essays and notably, “Of Love”, “Of Friendship”, “Of Ambition”, “Of Studies”, etc. The
myriad-minded genius rightly pointed out that all the words of the dictionary can be the themes of essays one can write.
But little has been done, in this regard since his death, in order to finish his unfinished monumental works. In fact Bacon's
way of presentation i.e., his unique style kindled the imagination already in me and encouraged me as well to write essays,
in the light of creative writing, thus to get relief through Catharsis.

OF INTEREST

Interest in somebody or something is a state of wanting to learn or know about somebody or something. It means
curiosity. It implies concern, e.g. to feel or to have or to show or to express an interest in something. It is a topic that
arouses or raises or stimulates a lot of interest. It is to hear something with interest. It is to do something just for interest or
out of interest or for interest’s sake, i.e. simply to satisfy a desire for knowledge. For example: Now he is grown up, he no
longer takes any interest in his stamp collection. By that stage I had lost all interest in the idea.

Interest is the quality in something that attracts somebody’s attentionand makes them want to know more about it.
For example: The subject holds no interest for me. The fact that we know the people involved adds interest to the story.
There is nothing of interest in the local paper.

Interest is a thing with which one concerns oneself or about which one is enthusiastic e.g. a person of wide or
varied interests. Further example: Outside her work, her main interests are music and tennis.

Interest implies advantage. It means benefit, e.g. looks after or protect or safeguard one’s own interests, i.e. make
sure that nothing is done to one’s disadvantage. For example: He has your best interests at heart, i.e. it is acting for your
advantage. Decide what is in the best interests of shareholders. It would be in your interest, i.e. to your advantage to go.

Simple interest is interest calculated on the principal only. Compound interest is interest added to the principal at

the end of each period, usually a year, to form a new principal for the next period.

Interest on something means money charged for borrowing money, or paid to somebody who invests money e.g.
pays interest or make interest payments on a loan. Further example: charge interest 10%; a high or low rate of interest.

Interest in something is a legal right to share in a business, especially in its profits e.g. has a controlling interest in
a company, i.e. owns enough shares to be able to say how it should be run. Further example: American interests in Europe,
e.g. capital invested in European countries. He has considerable business interests.

Interest in something is a personal connection with something from which one may benefit, especially financially.
For example: Members of Parliament wishing to speak about companies with which they are connected must first declare
their interest. This is called vested interest which is the root cause of all evils.

Vested interest is a personal interest in a state of affairs, usually with an expectation of gaining something. For
example: You obviously have a vested interest in Tim’s resignation e.g. because you may get his job. Powerful vested
interests, i.e. people with a vested interest are opposing the plan.

Interest group is a number of people grouped together to further or protect a common interest. Such a group of
people is engaged in the same business, etc. or having something in common which they wish to protect e.g., landed
interests, i.e. people who own land; middle-class interests; locally or special interest groups.

In the interest or interests of us as something that is advantageous. It means for the sake of something. For
example: In the interests of safety, smoking is forbidden.

Repay, return, etc. something with interest is to give back a sum of money with interest added. It is to respond to
an action by doing the same thing to the person who did it with added force. For example: return a blow with interest.

Interest-free means with no interest charged on money borrowed, e.g. an interest-free loan; interest-free credit.

Interest in the somebody or oneself in something is to make anyone or oneself give their or one’s attention to
something or be concerned about something e.g. a topic that interests me greatly. Further example: Having lost his job, he
began to interest himself in voluntary work. It is to make anyone want to do, buy, eat, etc. something. For example: Can I
interest you in our latest model?

Interested in something or somebody or interested in doing something is showing curiosity or concern about
somebody or something e.g. an interested crowd. Further example: Are you interested in history? The company is
interested in selling its product overseas. I tried to tell him about it, but he just was not interested. I will be interested to see
what happens.

Interested is having a private interest. It is not impartial or disinterested e.g. an interested party. Interested in a
position is to obtain an advantage from something. For example: As an interested party, I was not allowed to vote.

Interesting implies holding the attention. It means causing curiosity e.g. interesting ideas or features or
conservation. Further example: It makes interesting reading. Interestingly, consumer spending has increased.

In an interesting condition means pregnant.Make interest for usto secure favour for. Of interest, of money
borrowed, is on the condition that interest is payable. Declare anor one’s interest is to make known one’s financial, etc.
interests in an undertaking before it is discussed. Lose interest is to become bored or boring.

Of Interest 13

Absorbing, entertaining, gripping are synonymous with interesting. Antonym of interesting is dull.

Interested, usually means ‘liking something and wanting to know about it. For example: She is very interested in
photography. The opposite is not interested or uninterested. For example: She seemed completely uninterested in hearing
about my new job. Disinterested does not mean uninterested in modern English. Somebody who is disinterested can be fair
in judging a situation because they are not involved in it and do not expect to gain anything from it personally. For
example: You should get advice from a disinterested third person.

Interest is of various types namely; political, social, personal, public, psychological, physiological, philosophical,
historical, etc. to name a few.

She is his current interest. His chief interest is chess. Keep your own interests in mind. It is self-interest. Mystery
stories interest him greatly. Interested members will meet at two. Can I interest you in a game of golf? Can I interest you
in a holiday abroad? It is to look after one’s own interests. I have ceased to take any interest in the matter. Moneymaking is
his sole interest in life. I shall do it in the interest of my friend. Who does not look after his own interest? It is to her
interest to accept the offer. He has an interest in the family estate. He returned the blow/insult with interest. Are you not
interested in what I say? He is interested in music. Can I interest you in this plan? He is interested in the tea industry.
Watch with interested attention. I had an interesting conversation with the visitor. Look after your own interests. His
interests are gardening and sport. Your story interests me greatly.

This interest may broadly be classified into two different categories viz., classical or commercial or cocktail of
both in different proportions. Also interest differs in different degrees and dimension as well as follows.

The business interests; a matter of great interest; questions of great interest;an interested spectator; an interested
witness; an interesting book; the steel interest; an interest in politics; books of interest to children; the academic interests
of a scholar;a matter of little interest;to repay kindness with interest;have no interest in fishing; this magazine lacks
interest; findings of no particular interest;your interest to go; the brewing interest; take an interest; no interest in; this has
no great interest for me; is of no interest to me; interested parties, and motives; interested listeners.

Interest is ill-famed as private in nature. However, one should not show interest to third party’s interest. The
equation of interest is very complex and puzzling as well. Whose interest where is very difficult to find out. Apparently,
uninterested or pretend to be not interested may have great interest. Only a judicious brain or experienced person can
speculate the real interest and cause of it.

A less etiquette person pokes its nose into other’s affair. It is against courtesy to be interested in privacy. One
should not be interested in other’s private matter and simultaneously not allow others to peep in one’s own private affair.
Live and let live is the essence of the true democracy. A stranger should not allow into privacy for gain. It is better to
experience loss than gain basing on the advice of another. It causes much repentance. Previous experience protects a
person for future loss.

This creation is of interest, by interest and for interest. The world moves on interest. It is the fuel of the universe.
Where there is no interest, there is no movement. Movement fails when interest fails. Movement starts, when interest
starts. This is a very easy equation. There is no ambiguity here. Every movement of this universe can be explained by this
simple theoryof interest. It is the only single model. It is quite unique in nature.

Man faces, observes and experiences various interests from cradle to coffin. Sometimes he gains. Sometimes he

loses. It seems the net profit and loss of interest of life balance each other thereby nil in total.

CONCLUSION

A political party makes alliance,in the morning, with another political party even with the rival opponent if there is
interest. And that very political party denies alliance in the evening of that very day with that very political party if there is
no interest. As such, they say, in politics, there is no permanent friend or permanent foe, only permanent interest. Here, lies
the glorious uncertainty of interest.
