Rationale:

CREDITS
We want to help farmers and plant growers to make
their plants grow faster by doing this experiment. We
also want the plants to grow healthier
Variables:
Dependent Independent Controlled

Growth of Type of soil/fertilizer ● 1 week

the plant (eggshell & charcoal) ● Amount of water
● Amount of sunlight
● Amount of soil
● Plastic cup (size,type)
● Type of Plant
● Number of times watering the

will serve as the control setup
01 Gather the materials needed

02 Crush the eggshells and

charcoal separately Put them outside where they 06
are exposed to sunlight

Water the plants 2 times a 07

PRACTICAL EXERCISE
Based on the data we’ve gathered after the experiment,
Charcoal has the greatest effect on the pechay seeds with tallest
height of 4.5 cm. The tallest plant on the eggshell is 2.5 cm and on
the control setup which is the soil is 2.6 cm. The tallest plant in
the control setup is 0.1 cm higher than the soil with eggshell which
we do not expect considering that the eggshells provide more
nutrients for the seeds/plants.
Conclusion

PRACTICAL EXERCISE
PRACTICAL EXERCISE
Our hypothesis was rejected because our hypothesis was
that the eggshell would have the tallest plant among the three
setups. The reason why our hypothesis was rejected is because
the crushed eggshells was blocking the plants space to grow. What
happened is that the plants tend to grow it’s stem in as curve way
making the plants appear smaller.
Recommendation

PRACTICAL EXERCISE
For future researchers, this our the things that we would

PRACTICAL EXERCISE
recommend:
● Measure the amount of charcoal and eggshell.
● Do not leave large size eggshell.
● Make sure that the only thing that will affect the plant is the
independent variable only.
● Try a different type of plant.
