“Career Interest Profiler”

Reflection

Directions: Use the below questions to reflect upon your Career Interest Profiler Assessment results.
You can draft informal answers to these questions because you will formally reflect upon the results
through the Unit 1, Module 2 Assessment.

a. In your opinion, what are the biggest differences between career, job, and school? For
you, what overlapping skills do you think you have probably already mastered (lucky
you!) and how did you master them? Also, none of us is perfect, so what overlapping
skills do you need to work on a little?
In my opinion the difference between career job and school is a career is more of a salary
based job and provides a strong living for you. A job you have to support yourself but its not exactly
what you want to do with your life. School helps provide the background to a career but you focus on
multiple ideas not just one. An overlapping skill to all I've mastered is people skills, I think it is
important for all to have people skills. A skill I am lacking is working on time management.
b. In what two areas did you score the highest? Explain some of the traits that are
associated with these areas. In what two areas did you score the lowest? Explain some
of the traits that are associated with these areas.
The Two areas I scored the highest were Social and Conventional; some of the traits
associated with these areas are helpful, authority and working with details. The two areas I
scored the lowest are realistic and then I had a three way tie of Investigative, artistic, and
enterprising. The traits associated mostly with realistic are working outdoors, and working
closely with others
c. Did your scores surprise you in any way? If they did, explain why. If they were
unsurprising, explain in a short anecdote from your life how this trait has already made
itself clear.
My scores did not surprise me that much, I've already know I enjoy helping people and
working with the follow the rules. It seems to fit me and who I know I am.
d. List at least five professions were recommended to you. Are these jobs that you yourself
have considered pursuing? Did any of the recommendations come as a surprise to you?
● Social worker
● Credit counselor
● Elementary school teacher
● Guidance counselor
● Occupational therapist
I have considered becoming a teacher and a therapist before. None of the recommendations really
come as a surprise to me.
e. Has this quiz altered your opinion of potential future goals and aspirations? Do you think
you might investigate something that you didn’t know about before? Are you surprised
at the schooling required for any career or the wages associated with a career
suggested?
This quiz had not really altered my opinion of potential future goals and aspirations. I
think I might investigate a few jobs it recommended but not too many since I already
knew they kind of fit me.I am surprised that becoming a postsecondary teacher requires
a lot of schooling.
