The multiple effect of tourism in the Metropolitan area of

Constanta

The Metropolitan area of Constanta is located in south-est of Romania in

Dobrogea , along The Romanian Black Sea coast.
Due to its geographic location at the Black Sea, the main economic orientation is
tourism ,which is facilitated by the existence of the international airport Mihail
Kogalniceanu , providing links with major European cities.
The Black Sea coast is one of the oldest and most important tourist regions,
which traditionally offers the form and variety of attractions.
Constanta metropolitan area hosts the number four port of Europe, which has
potential for developing the food and agriculture sector, the potential for renewable
energy, an important tourist destination, inland waterways, the highway .
Transforming the Constanta Metropolitan Area into a tourist destination based on
natural and cultural heritage is one of the biggest challenges and the implementation of
a sustainable tourism development strategy will have positive effects on the growth of
the economy .
The tourism industry generates a significant number of jobs and investments in
this area they have a relatively short payback period. The local economy, as a
whole,benefit from tourism development.
Constanta Metropolitan Area was conceived as a facilitator for attracting
investments and structural funds, a platform for collaboration between the territorial
administrative units members of the association, as well as a core of development for
public services.
The tourists' motivations to visit the Constanta Metropolitan Area are very
diverse: some tourists seek rest and relaxation, others adventure, some tourists prefer
nature, while other tourists want to discover new places or are interested in cultural-
historical objectives or cultural manifestations. Health rehabilitation is also among the
most frequently encountered tourist motivations . Young people prefer active tourism
and opt for shorter seasons, families with children are heading mainly towards rural and
spa tourism and elderly people are particularly interested in balneary tourism .
Constanta Metropolitan area has developed a whole range of tourist products

The cultural tourism that took shape in the metropolitan area of Constanta
due to the rich cultural and historical heritage and the large concentration of
anthropogenic resources in the area, archaeological sites, architectural monuments, as
well as various festivals and cultural manifestations. Examples :
Historical monuments of archeology : Archaeological Site Tomis; Cavity of
Orances "from Egreta; Tower Defense ; Therme ; Paleocristian Hypogeum;
Paleochristian crypt.

tourism.
The tourist base of the Constanta Metropolitan Area is partially outdated and the
lack of modernization affects the quality of the services offered to the tourists.
Tourism in this region is seasonal and the peak season is in June, July and
August, and in January it`s the lowest level.
The natural reservations of the Constanta Metropolitan Area impress with the
beauty of the landscape and the flora and fauna, many of which are included in different
tourist circuits attracting their special color.
These nature reservations are a unique attraction in the tourist offer of the region.
The most important examples are: The natural dunes of Agigea - floral reservation ;
Techerghiol lake - zoological reservation ; Fantanita- Murfatlar reservation - floral
reservation ; Agigea lake - zoological reservation, Vadu lui Traian - botanical and
archaeological reservation.
The aquarium is located on the seafront in the immediate vicinity of the Casino,
and holds naturalized collections of marine and freshwater fish and invertebrates
belonging to aquatic fauna from different geographic areas of the globe.
