The Cavex classification hydrocyclones
come standard with Weir Minerals’
in-house developed R55 rubber inserts,
the same rubber that is used in Weir’s
Warman centrifugal slurry pumps.
Various ranges of rubber are available on
request and include ethylene propylene
diene monomer (EPDM) and Linatex
rubbers. Other materials that Weir uses
include high-chrome cast iron,
polyurethane, high-alumina-content tiles
and monolithic liners and silicon-carbide
components.
The Cavex range of hydrocyclones
was designed to increase the wear life of
the liners and for the easy replacement
of consumables. Weir Minerals currently
has on-going R&D looking at how to sim-
plify the replacement of high-wearing
consumables and how to increase the life
of the wear parts.
