MESSAGE FROM DIRECTOR & PRINCIPAL FUIC

Welcome to the Foundation University Islamabad Campus
(FUIC). This Institution offers you high quality most modern medical
education, unique learning environment, state of the art facilities, all
housed in a purpose built campus.

We envisage our graduates as clinically capable doctors who

have good understanding of both scientic and humanistic
medicine, up-holding the respect of life from the moment of
conception to its natural end.

The education system is at par with international standards.

Making full use of the most up-to-date approach to adult learning and
teaching we have adopted Integrated Modular Teaching
Programme. Horizontal and vertical integration, early clinical
exposure, integrated assessment and feed-back are embedded in
the curriculum along with awareness of ethical and professional
responsibilities.

From the 1st Year, students are introduced to clinical training

through the “clinical skill lab” where training in medical history
taking, physical examination of the patient and hands-on experience
in common procedures like Basic Life Support, intravenous line, intra
muscular injections etc is imparted on manikins and simulators.

The teaching in research is also spirally incorporated in

curriculum. Faculty development programmes are in place to meet
the challenges of fast progressing health sciences internationally by
implementing the new programmes.

We review our undergraduate programme and teaching on

regular basis in order to keep abreast with latest trends and
innovations in learning techniques/ strategies. The success of our

curriculum and teaching is reected in the outstanding performance of our graduates not only at national
level in FCPS program but also at international level in USMLE, PLAB and Australian examinations.

At the end of ve year medical course, students graduate with the degree of MBBS and are entitled
to provisionally register with PM&DC for the Foundation Course (house job). Full registration is conferred
after one year successful completion of the Foundation Course. FUIC affords you this opportunity at the
Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH) which is 810 bedded teaching hospital co-located within the premises of
the FUMC.

Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH) is a tertiary care teaching hospital with state of the art facilities. It
caters for a wide variety of patients from Rawalpindi and adjoining areas. FFH is recognized by College of
Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP) for Fellowship training in all major disciplines of Medicine and
Surgery. The departments of Physiology, Hematology, Histopathology, Chemical Pathology, Microbiology

MBBS Batch 2008-2012
Ex-student of FUMC
DEMONSTRATOR IN COMMUNITY MEDICINE DEPARTMENT
My journey at FUMC began on January 2008. After completing house job from Fauji Foundation
Hospital (FFH), Rawalpindi I joined FUMC as a Demonstrator in Community Medicine Department in
January 2015.

Looking back at the time I spent in FUMC, I consider it the best time of my academic tenure. FUMC
not only provided me with nourishing academic ground but also gave me up-to-date clinical experience.
My department is blessed with highly qualied faculty, our respected Head Dr. Abida Sultana has recently
taken over the department. She herself is an institution one can learn from. She is currently serving as
Supervisor of Fellowship training for College of Physician & Surgeons of Pakistan. Other faculty members
are extremely dedicated and execute lectures, research and visits all year around. FFH, a tertiary-care
hospital, with huge patient inow in its 810 bedded hospital and many subspecialty departments, like
Rehabilitation Centre and Articial Limb Centre, gave me one of its kind clinical experience. My time in FFH
aided me in acquiring ethical and professional behavior with empathetic attitude towards patient care,
which in turn brought me a lot of prayers and satisfaction. It was not all nerdy at FUMC, with co- and extra-
curricular activities ranging from clinical workshops / seminars / conferences gave me opportunity to
perfect qualities like teamwork, decision-making and completing goals under pressure.

FUMC Alumni Association, comprising of twelve batches to date, is well-organized and has its
presence all over Pakistan and many parts of the world. Alumni of my alma mater is a source of strength for
me and it will continue to provide guidance to future FUMCOLIANS.

I am deeply grateful to Almighty Allah for giving me opportunity to be a part of this prestigious
institute. May Allah (SWT) bless my alma mater with more success and prosperity, AAMEEN!!!

DEMONSTRATOR IN PHYSIOLOGY DEPARTMENT
I joined FUMC in 2008 as the 8th MBBS batch and received my MBBS Graduation degree in March
2012. In 2015 I started working here as a Demonstrator in the Department of Physiology.

Looking back on my ve years, I realize that this college groomed me excellently in order to serve
the suffering of community of Pakistan. The teachers provided a nurturing environment and made learning
easier and palatable for me. We were provided all modern academic facilities in the state of art lecture halls
and laboratories and in the end we were given a comprehensive exposure to clinical practice. Class
punctuality achieved by the administration in FUMC is the distinction of this truly collaborative process.

My institution has promoted ethics of my professional behavior, personal enrichment, learning

about subject, provision of best medical care and most of all bestowed me with a inspiration to teach and
impart knowledge to others which can bring lots of prayers, satisfaction and joy for the rest of my life.
I am indebted to register that my each endeavour of ve years academic life in FUMC, I learnt and felt that
FUMC is a place worth studying and teaching.

May Allah bless my Institution and give me the same courage, dedication and passion to teach the
same way to my students (AMEEN).
