On November 29, 2019, our department of Life Sciences organized a trip to zoological museum
of Punjab University which was based on our topic of ecology “Animal Kingdom”. Objective of
trip was to gain more information about mammals, birds, reptiles, fishes and other species of
kingdom Animalia on the basis of morphology, structure and their preservation.

One day our professor Huda Rehman Mir told us that we are going on a trip to the zoological
museum of Punjab university. The trip was approved by our HOD and he allowed the students of
batch F18 to go on trip to zoological museum. The day before trip we were asked to arrive in the
university at sharp 8:30 o’ clock. We gathered near the fountain waiting for the buses. Two buses
were arranged by the department. When the buses came, we started our journey. During our
commute, students enjoyed themselves by singing songs and playing “antakshri”. When we
reached Punjab university, we were asked that each section of the three sections separately go to
the museum and other wait for their turn patiently.

Students of remaining two sections spent their free time in eating breakfast, clicking pictures and
visiting other places of Punjab university. When turn of section (A) came, Professor Huda lead us
to the zoological museum. An instructor professor shabir Hussain assistant professor of zoological
department was there who told us about various species of kingdom Animalia. He told us about
their morphology, abundance in Pakistan, which specie has habitat in Pakistan and which hasn’t.
He also questioned us about names of different species and told us how these animals are preserved
like a four-day lion cub or monkey baby. We saw skeleton of crocodile and python of class
reptilian, amphibians, various bird’s species like ‘bird of paradise’ and fishes like star fish. Marine
animals include sponges (3 different shapes), octopus, jellyfish, centipede etc. After completion of
our visit, we were asked to make a group photo with Professor shabir Hussain. Professor shabir
Hussain truly a humble and modest person who through his experience guided us very well.

We enjoyed a happy meal at McDonald after the visit. We enjoyed our trip so much. Our trip was
full of academic information. During our visit we not only got beneficial information but also
enjoyed recreational activities. We hope that such activities should be organized time and again
giving the students a chance to get more knowledge about their subjects and studies.
The octopus is a soft-bodied, eight-limbed
mollusc of the order Octopoda. Around
300 species are recognized, and the order
is grouped within the class Cephalopoda
with squids, cuttlefish, and nautiloids.

Spiders are air-breathing arthropods

that have eight legs and chelicerae
with fangs able to inject venom. They
are the largest order of arachnids and
rank seventh in total species diversity
among all orders of organisms

Scorpions are predatory arachnids of the

order Scorpiones. They have eight legs and
are easily recognized by the pair of grasping
pedipalps and the narrow, segmented tail,
often carried in a characteristic forward
curve over the back, ending with a
venomous stinger. Scorpions range in size
from 9 mm / 0.3

Sponges, the members of the phylum

Porifera, are a basal Metazoa clade as a
sister of the Diploblasts. They are
multicellular organisms that have bodies full
of pores and channels allowing water to
circulate through them, consisting of jelly-
like mesohyl sandwiched between two thin
layers of cells
Centipedes are predatory arthropods belonging
to the class Chilopoda of the subphylum
Myriapoda, an arthropod group which also
includes millipedes and other multi-legged
creatures. Centipedes are elongated metameric
creatures with one pair of legs per body segment

Starfish or sea stars are star-shaped

echinoderms belonging to the class
Asteroidea. Common usage frequently
finds these names being also applied to
ophiuroids, which are correctly referred
to as brittle stars or basket stars

The chicken embryo develops and hatches

in 20 to 21 days and has been extensively
used in embryology studies. As
the embryo grows it sinks into, or below the,
yolk. The regular appearance of somites
allowed early experimenters to acurately
stage the embryo

The Pythonidae, commonly known simply

as pythons, are a family of nonvenomous
snakes found in Africa, Asia, and Australia.
Among its members are some of the largest
snakes in the world. Nine genera and 40
species are currently recognized
Phalacrocoracidae is a family of
approximately 40 species of aquatic birds
commonly known as cormorants and shags.
Several different classifications of the family
have been proposed recently and the number
of genera is disputed

Lion cubs are born with tawny black spots

which eventually disappears as they grow
older. When it is time to give birth a lioness
leaves her pride and has her lion cubs in
dense cover. Cubs remain hidden for one
to two months before being introduced to
the rest of the pride.

Birds have a lightweight skeleton made of

mostly thin and hollow bones. The keel-
shaped sternum (breastbone) is where the
powerful flight muscles attach to the
body. Birds have a smaller total number of
bones than mammals or reptiles

Fossils of elephant have been found in

Africa, Asia, Europe and North and South
America. They show that the ancestors of
modern elephants moved around the globe.
