1 Introduction

1.1 Nokia E-BAND WAVENECE NOKIA LINK Overview :

• E-BAND WAVENECE NOKIA LINK

Wavebece link Packet Radio Product comes to different architectures and addresses all microwave
applications with a single product family from full outdoor to split-mount system and nodal configurations.

• E-BAND WAVENECE NOKIA LINK architecture consists of two separate units:

· The Microwave Service Switch (Indoor Unit).
· The Microwave Packet Transport (Outdoor Unit).

6/24/2019 ZAIN - NOKIA MEGA Project 6

1.2 MSS-8 Version

MSS-8 (the 8 slots version) the Core-EVO is the heart of the system and provides the controller functions,
cross-connection functions, and manages different radio directions. The Core-EVO platform is based on
packet technology with a generic one Gigabit Ethernet serial interface between CorEvo and peripherals.

1.3 MSS-4 Version

MSS-4 can support Full-protected configurations, including EPS, RPS hitless, HSB and Core board protection
through a Core “Spare” (same PN of Core “Main”) that can be added to provide Control platform
redundancy and protection of aggregated data using an external switch.

Restricted external use

2.1 E-Band UBT-m 80 /UBT-T Carrier Aggregation Antenna

• Nokia is introducing CommScope as Antenna solution.

• Due to the unavailability of CommScope antenna, the CA links deployment will be delayed until the antenna is
available. RFS dual antenna solution will be temporarily used (1xDP antenna traditional band + 1xDP antenna E-
Band) up to 100 links.
• 2+0 E-Band will be deployed using RFS DP antenna until Commscope antenna is available.

4.1 Data fill

New Data fill needed for below cases
site category.
TDD SITE
FTK SITE
existing site re-routed from FON to other FON incase
there is VLAN duplication
• Unique VLANs will be used for all the technology.
4.2 DCN
• In-band DCN whenever microwave links having Tagged interfaces.
• Out of band DCN for untagged Ports microwave links – Ring links.
• All NEs will have unique IP
• The Microwave cluster will be divided based on the topology.
• A separate Subnet will be assigned for each MW chain terminated on the router
• Max. Subnet size will be /28 if possible.
• OSPF will be used and each segment will be defined as stub area
• In the scenario of mixed chain between NEC link and EBAND links the visibility of NEC will remain the same with no changes in the IPs

7 - Swap Scenarios

• Two types of swap are planned. Cold Swap and Hot Swap. Specific mode to be apply must
be triggered from Survey result and site model type.

 7.1 Cold Swap Scenarios :

• new system is using different frequencies (no interference with existing link’s), available spaces to
install new equipment and cables(Already checked by Survey. Cold is possible if the parallel
installation of the system is ensured on both sides.

 7.2 Hot Swap Scenarios :

• No possible execute “Cold” as preferential choice. Cases of Hot Swap are for example, Antennas
reusing, No space available in infrastructure, No space in Cabinet/Rack etc…
