CHINA CAN SHUT OFF THE PHILIPPINES' POWER GRID AT ANY TIME,

LEAKED REPORT WARNS

China’s power and control over the Philippine’s power grid is a clear evidence of the
country’s peril of invasion. Through the years, China has shaken the security of our borders by
continuously threatening our fellow Filipinos and is strictly adamant of the country’s ownerships.
The battle with China’s aggressive and certain attacks created the synergy of worries and rallies
within communities and the government itself. It brings back to mind how the sinking of a Filipino
fishing boat in the West Philippine Sea by a Chinese vessel created a sticky public relations situation
for the government and its people. This already usual extremity had added fuel to the already
incendiary situation. In addition, President Rodrigo Duterte have been receiving negative clap
backs as he continued to share a friendly relationship with the Chinese. It was said that his “bahag
na buntot” continues to flourish as Chinese bullies foster.

In line with the recent news concerning the security of the continuous independence of the
country, having China control the Philippine’s power source through the National Grid Corporation
of the Philippines (NGCP) creates a major dismay towards the countrymen. The government did not
only let these invaders have the rights and capacity to enter one of the most essential properties of
how the country runs, but they are also showing dependence and inferiority when they should’ve
shown the opposite.

The NGCP denied allegations that China can remotely access and shut down the grid. It said
Filipinos are in control of the country’s power transmission infrastructure, and the SGCC is limited
to be a technical adviser. NGCP said that the system that controls the grid is being operated by
“authorized Filipino technical experts” and cannot be accessed by remote users. Even though it was
said that those allegations were baseless and purely speculative, a number of senators are pushing
for a Senate inquiry in order to be certain that our national security is not at risk.

However, this continued partnership between the Philippines and China threatens our goal
of having to leave the title of being a developing country as we continue to cling on a supposed hope
of development, but with further studies and researches shows that it will only leave our country
barren and forgotten.

This issue can be easily dodged, if and only if the decision makers were critical enough to
think about the consequences— they are well cognizant of this topic and yet they remain blind, deaf
and mute in suppressing the problem. China’s power over the country’s power grid must be
stopped at all costs as their capabilities are known to men: they are flexible and patient, and they
create inventions surprising to a person’s capacity. “As long as we are not being invaded” Juan
Miguel Zubiri’s statement was that from an apathetic citizen of his country: So when do we take
action? When do we move? When China is already inside our borders and all we could do is cry and
mourn for our country that was greatly fought for by our heroes? We must now learn how and try
to stand alone and not to be dependent to the richer countries especially with China because we
will never know what the future holds and time will come that those assistance that they gave to us
will need something in great return that we can’t afford to lose.
