I.OBJECTIVES
At the end of the discussion the students should be able to:
a. define the different types of Speech according to delivery;
b. construct their own speech; and
c. differentiate the four types of speech according to delivery.

wrappers around you. their chairs and arrange their chairs properly)

according to purpose and these are Informative,
Persuasive and Entertainment Speech.

What is Informative speech? Ma’am it is mainly performed for the purpose of
educating the audience on new or relevant piece of
information on a particular topic.

How about the Entertainment speech.
Yes, Jason? Ma’am the entertainment speech is are usually quite
short and are basically for the purpose of entertaining
the audience.

Absolutely!
How about the persuasive speech.
Yes, Jovelyn? Ma’am it is a speech given solely for the purpose of
convincing the audience listening that the opinion of
the speaker on a particular topic is the right or correct
one.

C. Motivation

Before we start our lesson for today, let me divide


you first into four group, so count off (The students count off)

The reason why I divided you into four groups is


because we are going to play a game entitled “ah-
answer please”.
Here are the mechanics of the game.
1. All you have to do is to decipher the code
that indicates to this envelope this is
composed of jumbled number. All number 1
equivalent to letter A, number 2 equivalent to
letter B, 3 equivalent to letter C and so on.
2. You need to arrange the jumbled letter that
you’ve got. Write your answer in the
illustration board.
3. The first group who got the correct answer
will be given a prize.
Is the instruction clear class? Yes, Ma’am!

Are you all ready? Yes, Ma’am!

Based on the activity that you have played what do


you think is our topic for today? Yes, April? Ma’am our topic for today is all about the types of
speech according to delivery.

Precisely!
Our lesson for today is all about the different types
of speech according to delivery. These are the
Manuscript Speech, Impromptu Speech,
Extemporaneous Speech and Memorized Speech.

Now, on the same group, each will be given a


Cartolina and marker. All you have to do is to write
your own definition of the speech assigned to you.

I will give you ten minutes to think and do your


activity and after that choose one of your members
to explain you work. (The students will do the activity for 10 minutes)

Manuscript speech is a word-for-word iteration of a
written message.
In addition manuscript speech, the speaker maintains
his or her attention on the printed page except when
using visual aids. So, in here you have script reading
while you are speaking.

Now let us proceed to the group two.


Now group two, the floor is yours. (Group two representative presents their work)
Precisely, thank you group two.
Impromptu speech is the presentation of a short
message without advance preparation.
Furthermore impromptu speeches are generally most
successful, when they are brief and focus on a single
point.

Extemporaneous speech is the presentation of a
carefully planned and rehearsed speech, spoken in a
conversational manner using brief notes.
Do you understand class? Yes, Ma’am!

If that so, let’s proceed to the last group.

Memorized speech is the rote recitation of a written
message that the speaker has committed to memory.
Or the speaker memorized his/her speech. .

E. Generalization

To check if you really understood our topic. May I


ask you to tell something about the four types of
Speech according to delivery?
Ma’am our topic for today is all about the different
types of speech according to purpose and we have
four. First is the manuscript wherein you have a script
reading while you are speaking. Next, is the
impromptu, you perform you speech without
preparation, next is the extemporaneous speech, in
here you perform a speech in just limited type but
you have an outline to follow, last is the memorized
speech wherein you need to memorized your speech.

We have four different types of speech according to
purpose. The memorized, extemporaneous,
impromptu and manuscript speech.

Yes, Jemie? Ma’am the importance of our topic is to know how to
deliver a speech and how to prepare during the
presentation of speech and also to know the
advantage and disadvantage of different types of
speech according to delivery.

the number.

your own speech. It should be 250-300 words. (The student will do the activity)
