GIGI is:  
A startup offering benefits to gig workers (anyone who doesn’t have a fulltime 9 - 5 job). Unlike the older 
generation, it is unlikely that most of us will work at one organisation for 30 - 50 years, and retire with a 
pension and gratuity and insurance. Typically benefits are linked to employment - but what happens in a 
world where full time employment is the exception not the norm?  

GIGI is the answer to these questions. Put simply, we’re creating safety-net products never seen before, 
and enabling access to them for Indians who have never had an employer-driven safety net. Our market is 
huge, the problems are insanely complex (and fun!), and we’re just getting started.  

GIGI is funded by institutional investors in India, and accepted into a prestigious accelerator in the US with 
additional funding. Founders of GIGI are ex-Uber and ex-Urban Ladder. Team has members from Uber, 
Kaleidofin, and Morgan Stanley. 
 

We are looking for someone:

1) Who can listen carefully and with empathy - Our consumers have hard lives, and your ability to 
understand them from their world view is necessary to build a product that enriches their lives for good.  

2) Who could communicate and show ownership, rather than just executek - Gigi is a first of its kind 
attempt to build a platform for blue-collared workers, a segment that is hardly been served by the digital 
economy. We believe that a continuous user feedback incorporation is the path to build a delightful 
product. We don’t have a fixed roadmap, and we iterate quickly basis feedback. You need to be 
comfortable with change, and you need to move fast when needed. 

3) Interested in blue collar India - you should be motivated to research and study this area - be aware of 
products and companies working in this segment, analyse design interventions and guides for NBU, and 
be comfortable walking away from established design tradition where it just won’t work for our 
customers.

4) Some details on the skills needed: The role requires ​all the critical aspects of design function - User 
Research, Persona framing, Information hierarchy, Usability Study, Interaction design, Prototyping, Design 
systems, etc.  
 
We’d like to work with you if:  
 
● You have expertise in designing for individuals who are NBU, not English-first, and are typically 
associated with gig and blue collar jobs. (if you don’t have this expertise, please tell us why you’d 
be the right candidate, and we are open to considering you) 
● You are self-motivated and able to work without supervison.

● Brownie points if you speak Kannada, Telugu, Tamil or Hindi well. If not, you should be willing to 
learn. Our team communicates with each other in English, but we are multi-lingual, you do not 
need to be fluent in English.  
 
 
About the position:  
 
● This is a full-time position, based in Bangalore (sorry we are not considering remote work 
candidates), with health insurance and support for conferences, courses as needed.  
● We are a fun, very relaxed and diverse workplace with a healthy gender balance.  
● Most of us are foodies and there are regular office lunches and chaat/tea sessions to unwind.  
● We work hard and there are late nights when needed, but we do not endorse an unhealthy ‘work 
till you drop’ culture.
