from illness, change or misfortune.”
Being emotionally well is more than just handling stress. It also involves being attentive to
our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, whether positive or negative. Emotional Wellness
implies the ability to be aware of and accept our feelings, rather than deny them, have an
optimistic approach to life, and enjoy life despite its occasional disappointments and
frustrations. It helps us to achieve the followings:
 Arrive at personal choices and decisions based upon the synthesis of feelings, thoughts,
philosophies, and behaviour.
 Live and work independently while realizing the importance of seeking and appreciating
the support and assistance of others.
 Form interdependent relationships with others based upon a foundation of mutual
commitment, trust and respect.
 Take on challenges, take risks, and recognize conflict as being potentially healthy.
 Manage our life in personally rewarding ways, and taking responsibility for our actions.

Conclusion
Emotional wellness or emotional health is like a deep well. When the water is clean, it gives
life to everyone who drinks from it. When the water becomes toxic over time, it is not only
hazardous to everyone’s health but also corrodes the well beyond repair over time. So, let us
introspect ourselves, enrich our knowledge to interconnect our body, mind and soul to attain
the eternal bliss – happiness. Iwould like to conclude by a quote by
Dalai Lama and from Bhagavad gita.

“Udhretatma Atmanam na ca atmanam avsaadyet

Atma ev hi atmnorbandhu atmaev ripuratmana”

Meaning: Try to lift yourself by your Own Self. Never ever criticize or abuse your SELF as
you are your friend when you assert or love yourself. But you become your greatest enemy
when you curse or degrade yourself and feel depressed. So never underestimate your
capacities and capabilities.
“No one can lift you if you don’t want to be lifted, as a sleeping person can be awakened, but
not a pretender. You have to exert. You are here in this planet by grace of God with limitless
power and energies in the latent form. Only you have to know that/realize that/achieve that”.
- Bhagavadh Gita.
“Compassion suits our physical condition, whereas anger, fear and distrust are harmful to our
well being. Therefore, just as we learn the importance of physical hygiene to physical health,
to ensure healthy minds, we need to learn some kind of emotional hygiene”.
- Dalai Lama.
