ANS.1 The first thing that goes to an empty room is furniture. Furniture is a product of artistic
design and is considered a form of decorative art. In addition to furniture's functional
role, it can serve a symbolic or religious purpose. Furniture is the nucleus around which the
entire interior decorating scheme revolves. Architecture is the bare space of a place which is filled by
furniture according to the taste & personality of an individual.

 Provides with a place to sit, relax, sleep, write, work, eat & store your things
 Enhances the functionality and beauty of a space.
 It has a major influence on your building’s functionality and aesthetic appeal which is why it
should be chosen very carefully.

 TYPES OF FURNITURE DESIGNING:-

1) Domestic furniture: works to create, in conjunction with furnishings such as clocks and lighting,
comfortable and convenient interior spaces.
2) Minimalistic furniture: It looks highly appealing and helps optimize space, however, it offers little
storage space.

 MATERIALS:-
  Furniture can be made from many materials, including metal, plastic, and wood.
 When thinking about furniture, do not forget scale.

EXAMPLE:

 Gothic forms of art emphasize heavy proportions with the elaborate carvings which show up in
the Victorian style of furniture design.
 There will be more ornamentation on these pieces than those of other types of furniture and often
times, a dark finish.
 This was the first style of furniture to be produced for the masses.
 You can find it in many types of fabric including velour, needlepoint, braided and velvet. You can
find pieces with claw feet or whorl’s, which has a coiled appearance.

NOTE: Too trendy furniture in old houses doesn’t look good. Cane furniture brings natural look.
