Factory Radio Removal


1. Before proceeding, eject disc(s) from factory
unit if present.

2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative


battery cable to prevent any electrical short.

3. Pull both receiver side panels toward rear of

vehicle to release five (5) clips on each panel (1 of 2 shown)
and remove side panels (Figure 1). (1 of 2 screws shown)

4. Remove two (2) 10mm bolts exposed by
removal of side panels (Figure 2).

5. Pry out center vent panel to release eight (8) FIGURE 4


clips and remove panel (Figure 3).

6. Remove two (2) 10mm bolts exposed by


removal of vent panel (Figure 4).

7. Pry up clock housing to release clips. Place


a cloth on top of dash to protect finish and

8. Pull receiver/climate control assembly
toward rear of vehicle to release eight (8)
clips. Disconnect wiring harnesses and
remove assembly (Figure 6).

OEM Integration
This page addresses integrating aftermarket accessories such as
CD Changers, Auxiliary Input Adaptors, iPod Adaptors, etc., with a
R

factory radio system.

1. Remove factory radio following instructions on the previous page.

2. Follow instructions supplied with the accessory device.

3. Connect optional adaptor to inputs as shown.

4. Test operation of the adaptor and reassemble dash by reversing removal steps.

• Inspect factory receiver harness connector in vehicle.

Receiver Installation Ensure that the wiring adaptor received from Crutchfield
plugs into the vehicle’s connector. If the connector is
missing or incorrect, please call our Technical
Support Department at 1-800-955-9094.
A Standard DIN unit is shown. A Double-DIN
receiver may also be installed following these
same steps.

1. Secure receiver to mounting bracket


following instructions supplied with the
installation kit.

2. Make wiring connections following


instructions supplied with the receiver wiring
adaptor received from Crutchfield.

3. Hold receiver assembly near dash. Connect


receiver wiring adaptor to vehicle harness
and plug antenna lead into rear of receiver. Receiver Assembly

4. Slide assembly into dash and secure with


screws previously removed.

5. Test operation and reassemble dash by


reversing removal steps.

! IMPORTANT
No speaker wiring adaptor is available at this time from
Crutchfield for this speaker location. It will be necessary to FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2
splice wires in order to install an aftermarket speaker.

The dash speakers and the door woofers are wired together
at each dash speaker location. If dash speakers are
replaced, the input and output wires must be spliced
together in order for the woofers to operate.

1. Starting at rear edge, pry up speaker grille to Speaker Grille


release five (5) clips and pull toward rear of
vehicle to remove (Figures 1 & 2).

2. Remove two (2) 10mm screws securing


speaker to dash. Disconnect wiring harness
and remove speaker (Figure 3).

3. Make wiring connections following


instructions on page 10. Return to this page FIGURE 3
to complete installation.

4. Secure speaker to location with screws


previously removed.

5. Test speaker operation and reinstall speaker


grille.

! IMPORTANT
No speaker adaptor bracket is available at this time for this FIGURE 2 FIGURE 3
location. A mounting bracket must be fabricated in order to “Sail” Panel
install an aftermarket speaker.
Power Options
It is possible that the replacement speakers do not have
screws supplied. It may be necessary to acquire mounting Switch Panel
hardware.

1. Pry out “sail” panel to release three (3) clips and


remove panel (Figure 1).

2. Pry out screw cover behind door release handle


and remove one (1) exposed phillips screw Screw Cover

3. Pry up power options switch panel to release six


(6) clips. Disconnect wiring harnesses and
remove panel (Figure 3). FIGURE 4 FIGURE 5
4. Remove one (1) phillips screw exposed by
removal of power options switch panel (Figure 4).

5. Pry up armrest cover to release eleven (11) clips


and remove cover (Figure 5). Armrest Cover

Front Door Speakers (continued)


6. Pry out sides and bottom of door panel to
release ten (10) clips. Disconnect wiring FIGURE 6
harness, door lock and release cables.
Remove panel (Figures 6 & 7).

7. Remove four (4) 10mm screws securing


speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and
remove (Figure 8).

8. Fabricate a speaker mounting bracket and


secure speaker to bracket.

9. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement
speaker to vehicle speaker harness. Secure

10. Test speaker operation and reinstall door panel


by reversing removal steps.

 Check that wires do not interfere with window operation.
 Test door lock and release operation.

Seat Side Bolster
1. Pull up rear seat bottom cushion to release
two (2) clips and remove cushion (Figure 1).

2. Fold down both rear seat back cushions. Slot


3. Remove two (2) 12mm bolts securing bottom Rear Seat Bottom Cushion

4. Lift bolster and work seat belt through slot
at top of bolster, then pull bolster toward
front of vehicle, but do not remove (Figure 3).
Note: DO NOT DISCONNECT AIRBAG

5. Pull rear door gasket away from body along
rear pillar (Figure 4).

6. Starting at the top edge, pry out rear pillar
trimpanel to release five (5) clips and remove Door Gasket
trimpanel (Figure 5).

7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for the opposite
side of vehicle.

8. Carefully pry up front edge of rear deck Rear Deck Panel
panel to release three (3) clips (Figure 6).

9. Push brake light housing toward driver’s


side of vehicle to release. Disconnect wiring
harness and remove housing (Figure 7).

to remove (Figure 8).

11. Remove four (4) 10mm screws securing


speaker. Pull out speaker, disconnect and
remove (Figure 9).

12. Secure new speaker to adaptor bracket.

13. Place speaker/bracket assembly in location


and mark new mounting holes. Remove
assembly and drill holes with a 1/8” bit.

14. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of


replacement speaker to vehicle speaker
harness. Secure speaker/bracket assembly
to location.

15. Test speaker operation and reassemble rear


of vehicle by reversing disassembly steps.

Wire Splicing Guide These methods can be used to make wiring connections if no receiver or speaker wiring adaptor is available.
