Evolution of Events and Mobility Solutions

What is EMS?
Events and Mobility Solutions (previously known as Trusted Mobile Ticketing) is a
ticketing solution to issue and manage different types of tickets (RFID, Barcode,
Mobile, Google Wallet, Apple Wallet) for Events like Football matches, Moto
races, Conferences, etc and Mobility Solutions like Train Tickets.

Traditional ticketing system and problems:

All of us would have gone through the below manual ticket verification process in
stadiums, theatres, concerts, etc. So what exactly are the problems/shortcomings
that a ticket manager would face with the below ticketing approaches?

1) Support for mobile tickets

2) Tickets should not be duplicated
3) Multi technology verifier solution
4) Strong access control with photo verification
5) Offline verification capability
6) Realtime dashboard and statistics
 7) Communication between the verifiers
8) Cloud hosted solution

Trusted Mobile Ticketing was formed in 2017 to address the above

problems/shortcomings. As we already have a SEOS core as an operating
platform, the idea was to integrate our core SEOS to a ticketing system to address
the above needs.

Features:

 Cloud hosted backend system

A backend system hosted on AWS cloud which had two microservices to
issue/revoke/list/export tickets, post/get/export ticket scan details,
post/get/manage verifiers, groups and profiles
 Interactive portal

Portal system which integrates with the backend services to display the
statistics dashboard and manage other event related attributes which are
exposed through backend services as mentioned above

 Types of tickets
 Three different types of tickets were supported which were RFID, Barcode
and Mobile tickets apart from Vouchers. Mobile tickets had SEOS as a core
platform for issuance and validation

 Verifier app

Verifier app was build supporting both Android and iOS platform to validate
these tickets and post the resultant scan logs to the backend system. One
of the major advantages of this verifier app is its offline capability which
stores the white list and black list data locally

 MobiBadge app

This was also build for both iOS and Android systems to issue mobile
tickets.
Major Events:
Secutix – UEFA Super cup (August 2017)
 Secutix, a leading & innovative swiss company is the incumbent
ticketing supplier.
 UEFA has an objective to go fully Mobile tickets by 2020 and has
contracted Secutix to develop & implement a roadmap to achieve
this.
 The first step was this pilot with 200 mobile tickets.
 As security of tickets is key to UEFA, Secutix has developed a mobile
ticket using blockchain technology and has integrated our TMT
Secure Wallet BLE technology.
 A HID new Raptor reader with specially TMT developed firmware was
used.
 The reader was mounted on a “pole” and was completely off-line,
powered by a battery.
 Secutix integrated the new TMT back-end and mobile SDK. (done in 3
weeks)
 200 fans were issued mobiles tickets and were welcomed at a special
gate.
Technical Stack:
 Backend system was running on cloud Amazon EC2 instances with 2
microservices.
 Postgres RDS was used as database

Customers:

2018 started with our major customer being UEFA and couple of major events
with UEFA and Info Salons. This year marked a major shift in the back end design
as well.

Access control based on area/time and zone were implemented.

 SEBARA integration – Secure Barcode implementation for customer which
cannot be cloned.
 Real time statistics – Faster real time statistics with quick select filters

Communication between verifiers

 Native Wallets

One important feature that was added is the ability to add the event tickets
to the native wallets Google/Apple. This meant that the customer need not
download specific applications for ticket validation and instead they could
use their already available wallets to store the tickets and for validation.
  News & Agenda

Details of News, Agenda, Speakers specific to an event(in case of

conferences) will be displayed in both portal and the app.

Technical Stack:
 Backend system was migrated to Kubernetes
 Database was migrated to Aurora RDS Postgres

Customers:

Trusted Mobile Ticketing(TMT) was renamed as Event and Mobility

Solutions(EMS) and was aligned under the IDT business unit. 2019 marked a great
year as many new customers integrated with the EMS system.
Features:

One major feature of this year was the integration with the BluVision
technology to manage the access control within the statdium

Major Events:
 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final
 UEFA Champions League Final
 UEFA Europe League Final
 UEFA National League Final
The above four major events with UEFA happened in the May-June timeframe
where the UEFA National League Final had two matches for 3rd place and final.
These combined events had close to 200,000 scans.
UEFA Super Cup (August 2019)
VIP credential was used for the first time during this event and also Kiosk verifiers
were used for validation
UEFA 2020 European Qualifier Draw (November 2019)
Tickets were instantly issued and printed during this event
TixCraft (September, December 2019)

Chester Race Course – This is the first venue for EMS, which means all the events
(Conferences, matches, exhibition,) which will be hosted in this venue would use
the EMS system and they had two successful events this year
Trenitalia (December 2019)
Trenitalia is the primary train operator in Italy. Trenitalia integrates with AlmaViva
which in turn integrates with EMS to provide ticketing solutions. The live UAT for
this customer is scheduled for December 2019.
